They say that music is the wallpaper of life, well if that is the case I've spent a lot of mine decorating..!!
I have been a music fan and collector all my life. Growing up during the 60s and 70s I've been lucky enough to witness first hand many of the music 'revolutions'... Beatlemania, Psychedelia, Glam Rock, Classic Rock, Prog Rock, Punk, New Wave, Synth Pop, Indie Rock, Heavy Metal, Electronica, Hip-Hop and all things in between. It's been quite a journey and it's not over yet...
Join me on my channel where I discuss, rate and reminisce about the music that has decorated my life over the years. And feel free to comment with your own opinions and memories. Look forward to hearing from you all...

1. Debut 2. Deuce 3. Tattoo lady 4. Top priority 5. Calling Card
As a devoted fan must say best you keep your thoughts to yourself
Great album ranking. I have a load of Hawkwind album rankings as they are one of my favourite bands and I was promoting a book on Hawkwind. Hope you can check them out and my other rankings th-cam.com/play/PLbazsUgCraewKsI7fpKaJTmkaS3Nus0qZ.html
My White Devil lyrics came from Lorraines school history book.
Aqualung is also my #1 and finally one of you rankers agrees with me!
Brix Fall is the best Fall
Songs, heavy horses and thick are the best. Apart from aqualung and locomotive breath aqualung is overrated.
defender I would say is top 3
I got into the Fall during lockdown. Despite being from Manchester and being into punk /alternative record buying since 1978 , they had never really appealed to me, apart from the odd song. I found that I liked them up until around 1990. Bend Sinister being my favourite LP. I was also amused to discover how much they mentioned other musicians in their lyrics.
"These are the days"- Last track in Van Morrison's "Avalon Sunset." A most uplifting track from notoriously grumpy Van.
Hi Ash. Just discovered your channel and have subscribed. Don't have all the R.G. studio albums but, of the ones I own, my order would be : 1. Photo Finish. 2. Top Priority. 3. Calling Card. 4. Tattoo. 5. Deuce. 6. Self titled. 7. Defender. I'll be working through your other videos in next few weeks.
1. Just Testing (1980), 2. No Smoke Without Fire (1978), 3. Argus (1972), 4. Number The Brave (1981), 5. Wishbone Ash (1970), 6. Bona Fide (2006), 7. New England (1976), 8. Frontpage News (1977), 9. Elegant Stealth (2011), 10. Bare Bones (1999).
Is it just me or does the british accents get as annoying as the american southern accent. They just sound so bad. Just my opinion lol
Really interesting delve into the band and your experience at the time
I bought Phaedra, my first Tangerine Dream album, 3 weeks ago on CD with bonus 2018 remixes from Steven Wilson. I gave it away brand new. Why because there is absolutly nothing going on. Nothing happens at all.
The live albums were original compositions and they did a large amount of music for films. (
Rory's name is pronounced Gallaher. The second g is silent.
Dude.....not even to mention the collaberation with Gavin Friday..... terrible. You picked all the great great early stuff....what a bout Reformatoon and Your future Our Clutter, Imperial Wax. etc.....impossible task =:;-))
I adore Tangerine Dream. My favourite albums is Stratosfear.
Thanks for this! So well done. Interesting and engaging..
Hey thank you, glad you enjoyed it...
Further is their best album, followed by DYOH.

Nice to see this video. I saw them in 1970 at the Glastonbury Town Hall, supported by the Pink Fairies. Then again, in 1980 at the Lewisham Odeon, with Ginger Baker on drums. I'm now revisiting their music and discovering their more recent albums. Great stuff.
I recall that JT's first * 7-Single * / 45 rpm was incorrectly labelled as JETHRO TOE ! Stand Up was my first JT album and remains as one of the favourites ( As does the traditional line-up ). The outstretched left hand of Ian on the rear cover is kinddov significant .... Go count the number of fingers on his hands on the front of this most unique cover .... ! 🤙🥁🎸🎵🎶
Grave New World - what an effing great album. Blew me away back when I acquired it in '72. I can honestly say it made a huge impact upon me. I still play my original vinyl. Good call on the top choice.
Pete is in the 27 club, died in the 80s.
In descending order The smiths The Queen is dead Meat is murder Strangeways here we come (hat full of hollow could be added to the number one slot had it been a studio album).
Never heard so much crap all at once!!!!!!!!!
Great video. For me, there’s always been one answer: The Queen is Dead. 10/10, all killer, no filler. A song for every mood, emotion, and scenario in a young adult’s life. In fact, the older the you get, the more the lyrics resonate with you. It simply never gets old.
I disagree with almost all of these choices but that's the thing with Hawkwind fans they all seem to like different elements. My top pick would be PXR5 but that is probably very influenced by that being the first one I bought. A punt on a cheap second hand record by a band I knew very little about, I wasn't expecting too much but overnight I became a compulsive buyer of second hand Hawkwind LPs that were in abundance due to them having become very unfashionable at the time. Seen them live loads of times and never been dissapointed.
24 was a bond reject. She wrote it for the movie
Yes, I've actually found that out since... If I thought it sounded like a bond theme it must've been well written for that purpose....

Just got into Rory about two years ago .never knew of him ,in the states he wasn’t ever played on rock stations..do yourself a favor if you do another video try not to smack your lips.i had this on I was doing other stuff and I almost turned it off because of the lip smacking.im not trying to be mean .just a honest observation
Miss the 10 best ... start with Puccini Manon (Freni/Domingo).
You didn't mention SWORDS. A great album of b-sides.
Yeah, I was mostly concentrating on studio albums and just did a cursory mention of some compilations... Thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed it...
Great ranking! My favourite album is Battle for the Sun, especially if we take all the Redux/B-sides-stuff into the account
Great stuff as usual, ash. Safe travels, enjoy the music!
Thanks... I will, see you all soon...!!
Such an enchanting chanteuse… It was lovely to hear you speak of her with deep respect, affection, and grace. Hope you enjoy her upcoming performance. ❤️🩷🩵
Thank you for your kind words... I am so looking forward to seeing her... 'enchanting chanteuse'... perfect description... thanks for watching...

Really looking forward to watching this!
Hidden track on 'Without you I'm Nothing' CD is 'Evil Dildo' (on my copy anyway)
Hmm... now you mention it, there may be one on mine too... to be honest, it's such a long time since I played the CD version I've forgotten... Thanks for watching...:)
@@ashfromlondon7008 Thank you! Great video, it's made me want to go and listen to a few more Placebo albums :)
Hey Ash. New subscriber. The " Real Groovy Records " thumb-nail drew my eye, I'm a record collector from New Zealand as well. I find it really difficult to navigate all the Auckland record shops, but I do have a long history of record digging there for many years. I went to the latest " Real Groovy " in Auckland recently, but mainly use their on-line. On record store day I picked up the RSD latest from Pearl Jam and also a re-release of the obscure album from " Gandalf ". Nice shout-out to the stores in Auckland.
You are so talented & handsome!!!!
Wire's first was the best thing that year
1. A New World Record 2. Out Of The Blue 3. Discovery 4. Time 5. Face The Music
Nice video! Thanks! I would replace "Piano Man" and "Streetlife Serenade" with "An innocent Man" (1982) and the wonderful album "Turnstiles" (1976). I subscribed to your channel because I find your narrative style and voice very pleasant. Greetings from Germany!
Hi, thanks, glad you enjoyed the video, I try to keep things relaxed and interesting and mostly unscripted...
The first five albums plus the SR live album were the best in my opinion, Lemmy gave them a heavier sound, once Lemmy then Nik left it became Brocks band (it probably always was) They even had Ginger Baker in the drum seat for the Levitation your but but for me the best days had gone by then. I listened to more of Nik Turners output by then as his bands were playing more of the early Hawkwind style which suited me. It has to be said that with all the ups and downs they have weathered the changes in music well for the last 50 years.
I must admit that nowadays when I listen to them it's always the live album... definitely their peak... thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed it...
