Why the export is limited to 502 rows in Excel?
It's not "limited" per se, it's all about the way how we copy the query from Power BI. Visually it presents the first 502 records. But it can be easily adjusted - and should be :)
Subscribed just for this solution. Genius
Thank you! Great to hear it helped you
Great information. Thanks!

I have a problem with my PowerBI report. The last column header is showing impact type;;;;;;;;;;;;;;, which is then reflected in the data, which is showing as x;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; which means that PowerBI cannot identify the right value. Any clue on how to resolve this please?
Maybe as a first step replace the ";;;;;;;;;" value to something else and then do the split.

Thanks!
Hey, Id love to know your thoughts on following. As there are ways to refresh particular partition of a semantic model, is there a ways to connect to the partitions of dataflow, and initiate a refresh for a specific partition of a dataflow ? this is in case of a scenario where full refresh of the dataflow fails or times out.
At this stage your only option is to turn off incremental refresh, do a full refresh and turn on incremental refresh again :(
Thanks for the clear examples. Do you know if these roles are 'stackable', i.e. if a user is a member of a dynamic RLS role on other tables in the model and a member of one of these more static roles, would they see this limited view correctly? I think the answer is yes, assuming everything is setup correctly.
RLS is in a sense ‘additive’, meaning that if a user is part of multiple roles, they will be able to access data filtered to both roles.
Hi, is it possible to have the video open from a hover-over or clicking a link, and playback to occur within PBI? I don't have enough space in my dashboard page to leave my video embedded like this.
I dont think so - but I have never tried. I’d reconsider the design then to work better with the video. And once users are skilled enough redesign it again

How do you currently handle descriptive analysis? Would this automation save you time?
I have messaged you via LinkedIN, so I hope you don't mind that I raise my nagging concern here as well. I really want to make email automation work. I've tried for years to make the rules in Outlook work for me, but they never do. The problem as far as I see it is that people simply don't care enough about their subject lines. I work in construction and I may be working on 4 jobs at once with the same project manager. All I want them to do is put the Project name or reference in the subject line so that I can filter those emails to project folders. But invariably they don't or they email me about two projects at the same time, or the subject line was generated automatically from the document they've attached and has nothing in it to identify what project it relates to, until I open the attachment. I'ved tried, and I will keep on trying to instill discipline but it's like cleaning teeth, the agreed conventions are followed for a day or two, but after that things quickly descend into a free for all. Some days we can get swamped with incoming emails and as soon as they drop below the bottom of the screen even important emails can get overlooked. I'd really like use Automate BI to handle these inconsistencies and help me manage my inbox better than I can at the moment, but I fear that in the main it won't. Or is there an answer? How do you deal with human generated inconsistencies?
Hi, this was very useful for me, but I'm planning to take this to the next level and I'm getting stuck. Please guide me if possible. I actually get a data dump on my Outlook every morning and I want to append the data present in that email attached (Excel/CSV) to the master file present in a SharePoint folder. This should happen once everyday as soon as i get mail (even if my laptop is shut down) Could you please help me solve this one, please?
Combine the learning from this tutorial with Day 13 th-cam.com/video/6PmuxmDx_v0/w-d-xo.html That should help you automate your process.
Have you tried Copilot yet? What’s your favourite automation so far? 🚀
Hi @BI-Lingual Analytics At the first step where we add url and header as Authorization and Value as Bearer token, I'm getting below error Details: "The 'Authorization' header is only supported when connecting anonymously. These headers can be used with all authentication types: Accept, Accept-Charset, Accept-Encoding, Accept-Language, Cache-Control, Content-Type, If-Modified-Since, Prefer, Range, Referer"
Have you followed the video?
@@BILingualAnalytics Yes Sir and following the each step

thank you. this is very helpful, can you kindly post the data you use here? this will hep much in practicing the steps. thank you.
Unfortunately I no longer have it, but there are lot of examples online you can use to practice.
Have you tried automating dimension table updates before? Share your experience!
Great. I see we are using the same lego blocks in different places. Is it possible to copy paste blocks from one flow to another (with the configuration details the same?)
Great question, I haven't tried copy-pasting from one flow to another. Within the flow it works for sure :)
So same issue as before. I could not get the power automate icon when editing in BI service. I could only see it if I re-uploaded my original desktop report this time with a blank sheet that contained a just started PA visual. Then the icon could be found in BI service when editing the report. It does seem a basic issue to still be around now, so maybe there is a simpler solution. [I could actually create and configure the PA icon in desktop. Maybe that is the simplest way to go, especially as I make any other changes and want to upload them without losing the PA button]
I would then stick with creating it using Power BI Desktop. Not sure about the issue though... Sounds like a strange one
:) breaking down these tasks into lots of small videos really helps. Particularly for those of us with limited effort to overcome the every day hurdles we keep getting. If i got stuck twice in a 1 hour video I'd give up.
That's the whole point of the Advent of Automation. Videos no longer than 10 minutes so everyone and anyone can join the party
Great. For the Sharepoint new file trigger we set it to re-check every 3 minutes. For Outlookmail it seems to do it automatically and pretty much immediately? Seems odd to me. Or is Power Automate leveraging the internal filtering within Outlook?
Both of them (SharePoint and Outlook) have the same option to change the frequency. Although I must admit Outlook does seem (or feel) to be a bit faster. But i reckon it's just a feeling rather than something I can prove to be faster :)
Quite surprised to find I have Sharepoint as part of my free developer account.
Not sure what account type you have, but if it is the M365 dev it should be there
How do you manage complex conditions in your workflows? Let me know here 👇👇👇
Setting up the blank report is tricky for 2 reasons. 1. I couldn't publish to BI Service a pure blank report, not until I added a dummy table (and I notice you had a single column table too). 2. The Power Automate button on the Visualisations pane is not available to me on BI Service or Desktop.. Eventually I solved this in Desktop by Using Insert Tab where it does exist. Only by publishing from desktop with a blank Power automation visual does the button appear in the Visualisation panel in BI Service. Seems a significant issue, so maybe there is a better work around. (I can create new buttons but the icon goes if I save with no PA buttons in the report) Then to run the flow it requires Control + click (standard Edit mode issue that I always forget). But I am liking this - lots of small use cases to begin with :)
Yeah, it sounds like a weird issue
Thanks. Curious about what licenses I need - free trials especially, and what is enough to complete these 20 days.
For most of the examples a User License should be enough, however, I also plan to cover one or two premium connectors where other type of licensing come into play
Expressions can be tricky-what’s your go-to resource for learning?
Have you implemented any of these solutions before? I'd love to hear about your experiences and how they worked for you!
I do not how it worked but all I did to resolve some row loading differently within the data set was go to gear icon, switched to custom, then switched it back and that seemed to correct the issue... Not sure how...
Sometimes we just have to trust the tool :)
Which of these automations are you planning to try first? Share your ideas below!
This is great! I'm trying to find a way to get data of my company which resides at the vendor. Can I use dataflow to connect to an outside network if given a user account in their environment?
As long as you do have access to that platform it should be fine.
Great series. My accounting software send me and email whenever I have an invoice waiting for my approval for payment. I don’t want to receive 30-50 emails every time we go to pay our invoices. So I created a PA flow to capture these emails and save the contents to a Sharepoint list. I then put a 5 minute delay to make sure all the emails from the accounting software are processed and the the flow will put together an html table from the Sharepoint list, and email me that table.
Sounds amazing!!! Great stuff

Awesome video, can you help me in automating a return to week attendance only for those days on which there should not be any manual work the employees details should be saved in a file automatically and show power automate a mail. Can you make a video on this at the earliest. Thanks in advance 1 example in video can help me.
Not quite sure I get what you are after.
@BILingualAnalytics My question was I would like to create a form for employees who will punch in attendance when they wfo and if by mistake they select wrong selection it should trigger their manager of the response they submitted and if manager accepts or rejects we should be notified or it has to be updated in excel automatically the manager response so pls can you create a flow or automation like this and post.
@@MoonShine-bs6cl Thanks for the clarification. That's definitely doable with Power Automate, however, for this series, it would be a bit too complex. I added to my list and hopefully in 2025 will have time to cover it.
Great tip. Are you planning to touch automation where you could set up refresh times in a Excel file. Then automation could run refresh of model in automation. Or maybe to run refresh of model when previous model has finished refresh?
There will be some tutorials on refreshing data (focusing on DataFlow and Semantic Model). I think those will be good starting points for you.
