Always was a Thunderbolt fan and your tribute is fantastic. My mom had a white 64 Fairlane 500 (4 door 289) so that’s probably where my interest started. It obviously is a fast freakin Ford the way she acts.. very nice 👍🏼

What year and mk golf did the engine come from ? The gearbox- did you strip the petrol gears out of the case and replace them with tdi gears to keep the Quattro output shaft ?
ASZ PD130 Engine. Mk4 Golf. And yes, factory TT gearbox with TDI gears from euro A3/S3. We didn't do the build, but the thread is somewhere on audizine I believe.

I believe they're Precision turbos. 5862 Ball Bearing.

Lets say you wanted to do the same thing and your going to use a american alh or bew out of an mk4 How much would you need to spend to get the transmission to work out right? What model transmission are you using?
Factory 6-Speed with TDI gears. Not exactly sure which ones, but if I can find the full build thread the specs would be on there.

I do not see where the 30k comes from... you could buy a whole jetta tdi parts car with everything you need for under 5k.
Importing the ASZ PD130 engine. Rebuilding the transmission with TDI gearing. Getting all electronics to work as factory. It can add up.

Too big and extreme nosedive
I had a 1975 405 wagon gas, I also had one in diesel, I liked the gas better. Then I got a 505 STI. This was a very fast car, 4000 RPM in 5th gear you were doing 100 MPH! The engine red lined at 7000 RPM and yes, it would do every bit of it.
Really miss my 604. :(
