Retro Fuzion Crystal Breadbin Case - Pimped out with RGB LEDs!
มุมมอง 36428 วันที่ผ่านมา
Hi Viewers! Putting my Christmas leave to good use by fitting an Ultimate 64 Elite, Mechboard64 and RGB LED strip in to my new Crystal Breadbin case from Retro Fuzion. The RGB LED strip is controlled by the Ultimate 64 Elite and is triggered by sounds from the SID chip, and it looks freaking awesome! There's a few different options for patters and I'm not sure yet which I like the most, but as ...

The Spectrum - A C64 users take on RGL's newest release
มุมมอง 253หลายเดือนก่อน
Watch a dedicated C64 user enter the world of The Spectrum! As a Commodore owner from childhood the world of the Sinclair Spectrum never really interested me. Now as an adult I can appreciate that other systems had their pros and cons, just like the C64 dd, and I figured RGL's latest release was the ideal way to immerse myself in the world of Spectrum. And I have to say, so far I'm not disappoi...
SX64 hates BackBit and EasyFlash 3 cart

Repairing a friends SX64 and discovered it has an issue with my EasyFlash 3 and BackBit (legacy) cartridges. Note that both these cartridges work perfectly on both of my own SX64's. I have tried the following: Ran Commodore diagnostic with harness (all tests passed) Built GI-Joe ram tester cart (all tests passed) Ran a non name (label came off) diag cart, all tests (ram, kernel) passed Cleaned ...

I was never a fan of the whole oled and mini push button arrangements of many Pi1541 setups. Luckily I had one of the official Raspberry Pi 7” lcd displays left over from a previous project. The case comes from SmartiPi and has more than enough room to fit the Pi1541 hat. Apple external disk drive on a C64? - Part 2

In Part 2 I reveal the magic and show exactly how I was able to connect a Apple II Disk II compatible external floppy drive up to the C64. Make sure you watch Part 1 first: th-cam.com/video/AWGmsroWeKY/w-d-xo.html
Apple external disk drive on a C64? - Part 1
มุมมอง 2811 หลายเดือนก่อน
In part one I ask the question, can an Apple Disk II compatible external disk drive be connected to a Commodore 64. The inspiration for this project was from a forum post on lemon64.com where, in a tear down of the drive, someone mentioned there was a 20 pin connector on the main board which looked a lot like the Apple Disk II interface connector. Nothing more was said, and it seems as though t...
CP M v2 2 on a Commodore 64!
มุมมอง 8511 หลายเดือนก่อน
Dirk Wouters has taken the unreliable Commodore CP/M cartridge, reverse engineered it and refined the design to produce a modern day reincarnation. The latest revision pcb design, using all surface mount components, fits in a standard cartridge case and provides a stable platform that Commodore could only have dreamed of. Here I give a quick demo, booting up CP/M 2.2 and loading an application ...
Part 8 - The SX64 gets a major upgrade!
มุมมอง 2702 ปีที่แล้ว
The CRT to LCD swap project has been finished off for a long time now and it's still working great. I've loved being able to grab it and plonk it on the dining room table for my C64 fix, when the home-office space (where my retro gear lives) is being used. But, the one thing that spoilt the "all in one" experience a little was having to connect up my external Pi1541. So I began to wonder, was i...

      Sweet, you should get a decent price for it considering RF have sold through all their additional crystal cases now. Happy for you to link to the video too.

      It sure is! And I used the white keycaps from the Indiegogo keycaps for 64 campaign. The Mechboard kit comes with the C64 to Cherry MX keycap adapters.

    Nice! Mine's still in customs. Is there any documentation (other than on the U64 site) about hooking up LED strips? Last thing I want to do is accidentally fry my U64 Elite :)

      @8bitcorner615 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks :) Hopefully you'll get your package soon! As for documentation, I used the info in the U64 manual. The LED strip had the writing for the signals on it that more or less matched the pictures. Always double check and tripe check your work. Catch any mistakes before you power on.

      And another thing: the LED strips can produce annoying reflections in the monitor. You need to find the best position, before you position it with the double sided tape.

      I've experimented with it in a few places, and finally found what I think gives the best effect and least glare. For me, the optimum position was on the underside of the keyboard, facing towards me.

    That LCD looks pretty awful on camera. Shame you couldn't keep the CRT in there.

    • @8bitcorner615
      @8bitcorner615 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's my fault for not knowing how to use the camera properly. Believe me, in person it is a massive improvement over the CRT. If it wasn't, I would not have gone ahead with the project. The display is crisp enough that you can clearly ready any text with ease, unlike the CRT. This means it can be used to its full potential.

      @@8bitcorner615 improvement is subjective I guess. I grew up playing on one of these and the CRT was awesome.
