Around 4:22, he was talking about the cladding on either side of the core metal, which is the higher quality metal that you create the edge with.
Thanks for sharing this video watching this was a treat!
@@ckkk1m I'm happy you enjoyed it!
He seems like such a friendly, down to earth dude. He tried his best to explain each stage.
That looks good
This is a great video thanks to share 😊 Takada knife is in bucket list
He acid etches the knives a different points in the rest of the polishing. Those parts are secret
I love sparkling water and jelly drinks so this looks nice
FIRST!!!!!!!
Very nice video. Thank you for sharing! How much was the average price of knives? I planning to visit Takada san shop next month.
I don't remember what the prices were on the other knives but I bought a 240mm Gyuto for $460 USD. I also suggest you visit the Sakai craftsmanship museum a short walk from Takada san's shop. They have a large display of knives and other locally produced goods for sale. You can see some of it near the end of my deer with knives video th-cam.com/video/WoU7-KTDA1Q/w-d-xo.htmlsi=0PEQZstXdqJMJ8mC
Very rare sight to see Takada No Hamono's almost entire shop And suddenly Yoshikazu Tanaka shows up! Incredible video Thank you for sharing this
Not yoshikazu. Maybe disciple
I'm planning to visit his shop next spring; this got me fired up. He agreed to a visit so I'm still debating which knife/knives I want to get. What did you end uo buying and what was the ballpark cost?
I ended up getting a 240mm Gyuto for my brother. I think it was $460usd. thanks for watching!
Thanks for posting this video. I thourghly enjoyed the entire process. I had the opportunity to visit him last week and this video completes my experience.
Love seeing all the Nissan Elgrands in their natural environment, and I really want to go to Japan..Bōsōzoku life....
A man who never eats pork buns is never a whole man.
Nice hot tub ! The original
I forgot to mention the guy at the end is the blacksmith Tanaka! He happened to be making a delivery while Takada was wrapping up my knife.
Cool spotting of Yoshihisa Tanaka, son of Yoshikazu Tanaka. I like how he politely declines when Takada san says he is world famous (probably referring to Tanaka uchihamono). Funny enough Takada-san's knives are well renowned and ofc Yoshikazu's as well.
wow, great video, loved watching it!
you cracked the jackpot, how did it come to it? did you just ask him to show you? it'smuch nicerto see the whole process with explanations, because it gives you a sense of time too
I asked if I could take some video and told him I like watching the process. Then he started showing me how he does it. Takada san is a great craftsman and a great person.
@@furui5117 seems extremely nice indeed
The knife sharing was cool 😎. And you gotta love food on a turn belt !
Oh and the McDelivery bike joke in this anime? I didn't realise Japan and South East Asian had the service as far back as 1993 and wasn't Uber either! Prior I thought it was some future prediction.
Food delivery goes way back in Japan. They used bicycles and probably walked even before that. When the Honda Cub came out the service kind of exploded.
@@furui5117 It goes back even further to 1800s india with the dabbawalas or mumbai tiffin service for curries (or bento lunchboxes as they're called in Japan for rice sushi or chicken teriyaki). Hot food delivered in recycable tiffins or bentos. But yeah McDs philippines still do the McSpaghetti and have motorcycle delivered it since 1993.
Yeah this was a failed attempt by Helen McCarthy (remember her?) to set up her own VHS distribution company and featured in her own Anime FX magazine (UK) October 1995 as an (ill advised) cover story. I don't think its Moe anime but more "Pokémon before Pokémon" art style of elongated limbs and adhd action. The US release obviously picked up the UK dub before the Manga Video/Anime UK crash of 1997, prior to the internet, DVD/Blu-Ray and streaming bringing it back.
I started getting into anime in 2000 so Helen McCarthy's attempt and the UK crash of 97 is before my time. Eventually I want to research and make videos about events like that in the history of anime. Eventually I want to do a video about the market crash of 07/08 that took down multiple US importers and anime studios. I want to get better at making videos before I do. I'm also working a lot which gets in the way. And thanks for commenting, it made my day.
@@furui5117 Hey no worries I'm 42 this year but a 90s retro kid at heart. You got into DVD as Starz media took over both Manga Video UK and US Manga Corps USA (along with some disputable Macross/Robotech titles). Kiwfarms and 4Chan has a firm grip on ALL copyright updates and news so no contest for me or upstart youtubers sorry 😞
