Learning Adsorption from Douglas Morris Ruthven
The total potential between the adsorbate molecules and the adsorbent is the sum of the adsorbate-adsorbate and adsorbate-adsorbent interaction potentials. Let us focus on the factors that govern the adsorbate-adsorbent interaction potential, . If we ignore -complexation and chemical bonding,1 the two contributions to the adsorbate-adsorbent interaction potential are dispersion interactions and electrostatic interactions.

    • @rajamanikrishna250
      @rajamanikrishna250 ปีที่แล้ว

      In my presentation Entropy Production & Diffusion on this channel I write the complete expression for the rate of entropy production including viscous flow contribution. In practice, the condition of mechanical equilibrium is established much quicker than diffusion equilibrium. Consequently, it is rare to find scenarios in which we need to include viscous forces in deriving the expression for multicomponent diffusion. As example, in the process of ultracentrifugation for separation of uranium isotopes (watch my video on this topic), the assumption of mechanical equilibrium is invoked in deriving the expressions for the composition gradients within the centrifuge.

    So for the thermal conductivity of a silica aerogel the Knudsen diffusivity prescription says that the low thermal conductivity is a function of LOW molecule wall interaction. Is the DEVIATION based upon Mr. Knudsen using a vacuum sphere as his base model? Is the MOLECULE WALL time interaction a function of electron spin meshing (magnetic or electric) sticky electrostatics?

    A very useful presentation.
