I can't express how star-struck my kid self was more than 20 years ago when I discovered that _you could exit the car and enter other cars_ in this game. The feeling was of a total freedom, it seemed impossible at the time. It has since become a staple of the action/driving videogame genre. The gaming industry surely did came a long way...

My step dad bought me this when I was like 7 and I couldn't figure out how to play so just ended up playing it as a driving simulator. Stopped at the lights and stayed on the right side of the road. 😂

as i remember that mini was easier to acquire by driving over hole and jumping of the car (regular one), i dont remember this tunnels

When i first played this, i would just cruise around Chicago. When i saw the police car, i would get in and see the max felony. When i saw a cop passing by, i would exit the vehicle and wait for them to pass to get back in. Eventually, a cop came from behind and i couldn't get back in without being wanted.

I am reverse engineering Driver2 and have managed to enable access to a police car. Fun fact: When getting into the police car, a regular pedestrian exits. It's not a cop inside.

So many good memories of just trying to figure this game out. I'm sure there were walkthroughs online back in 2001-2002 when I was playing it, but I never looked them up. Fun to try new stat combos to see what digivolution I'd get, and constantly exploring to try to figure out who i could get in the city. I never did beat the game. Also never discovered that you could recruit Frigimon. I tried replaying it as an adult. Bought a used copy and played it on a gen 1 ps3....but it freezes every time I go to Freezeland....such a troll. Lol

You missed a secret. There's a secret pit stop in the game.

Those are some nice details. Car engine starts when you get in, proper door opening, acceleration and stops.

Me and my cousin were so hype for driver 2 because you could actually get out of the car and run around. Then we discovered that we were able to sit down on chair and benches and stuff. And at that time during this ear of video games THAT WAS GOLD TO US!!!
