St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Spotswood NJ
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 23 มี.ค. 2020
St. Peter's has served the Spotswood community and lower Middlesex County in New Jersey for over 260 years. We have seen Revolution, fire, flood, pestilence and famine come and go. We have loved and served each other as the Body of Christ, and with that same love we have cared for our neighbors as ourselves. We are humbly aware that we can never do enough to give glory to God in service to others, but what we can do, we will do.
Most of all, we live our mission: "Welcome Home."

Morning Prayer Wednesday Proper 24 2024
This is one of many favorite passages; especially Martha’s concern about stench (it makes me snicker). I’m always moved with Jesus weeping at Lazarus’ tomb knowing he was giving life back to him; then Jesus exclaims, ‘Lazarus, come forth’. My imagining; dramatic music, with Lazarus blinking in the brightness of the sunlight. I ponder what it would have been like to be Lazarus, to feel life returning, the joy of a new life. I too, use seasonal mugs. It took me a while to return to this ritual, as life had been quite bleak (in saying that, I know I’ve been very blessed, and strengthened with the love of God); I’m happy to be using them once again. Thank you for giving good spiritual food for contemplation. The richest, and sweetest blessing to you.
Ever blessed! It truly is a cinematic-potential moment...
Hello Padre Marshall and blessings abundant. I think the sound has been turned off in the church. It’s not on my end, and I can hear sound through other venues on your site. This is the second time I hadn’t been able to listen to the sermon.
We are working on it. Apologies, it looks like some buttons were pushed by mistake! God willing, we will be up and running again on Sunday!
Looking for a new job as my previous one of 3 years has ended…😒
Prayers are rising for the search...may God guide you to the right place of work, and may they find you!

Yes, we are transformed in the presence of God, and what a transformation. I’m always grateful for the revelation of God’s presence in the calling to accept God into my heart. It does mean struggle at times, discontent with change (but not long lasting discontent), at times, isolation; but, in all that, great, great joy, filled with even greater love. I marvel that Jesus asks his disciples, ‘Whom do you say that I am?’; with a resounding, joyful response, I say, ‘You are the Christ, the child God gave us to reveal the love he has for us, God’s creation.. Thank you Padre Marshall, for giving us spiritual food to grow on.
Many thanks! Blessings and welcome home!
Thanks be to God
We thank you for these prayers for our mom- Anne Carthy!
Prayers rising for her!
Yes, that is difficult to understand. Once heard a perspective; Jesus knew he would be criticized for interacting with the foreigner, put her to a test with that parable. What I do see in this verse is the simple faith of someone with a need; she wasn’t going to be deterred. Now, I was sorta hoping you’d address Jesus sticking his fingers in the man’s ears, then spitting, making a paste, and touching his tongue. I’d be wonderfully shocked if God approached me, stuck his fingers in my ear, spit, and then touched my tongue. Can’t think of a greater blessing then God doing all that to me. I so appreciate your preaching; it’s enriching. Blessings to you.
Praise be to God
Giving thanks that Anne Carthy is back to her wheelchair, having recovered from Covid!
So glad to hear! Fr. Marshall will visit this week!
Greetings from Florida. God Bless
Blessings to all in Florida!
Appreciate the reference to the ancient Greek word for bread, ‘what we need to survive’. Your focus on Jesus giving us himself to survive, move forward, remain focused is the message I certainly need to continue to hear; especially being in the now. Thank you for a sermon of sustenance; a Holy Spirit moment.
Many thanks...so many bread sermons! :)

Guilt does not bring justice... this did not survive well. I wonder how looking back on this and knowing what we now know may have changed this view. What did we learn?
Blessed to have participated in this Holy Eucharist and to have come upon the St. Peter's channel. Thank you, Father.
Honored to have you alongside! Welcome home!

Isaiah 14. Assyria. ²⁴The Lord of Hosts has sworn: As I have resolved, so shall it be; As I have proposed, so shall it stand: ²⁵I will break the Assyrian in my land and trample him on my mountains; ²¹He shall pass through it hard-pressed and hungry, and in his hunger he shall become enraged, and curse his king and his gods. He shall look upward, but there shall be strict darkness without any dawn; ²²He shall gaze at the earth, but there shall be distress and darkness, with the light blacked out by its clouds. ²⁵Then his yoke shall be removed from them, and his burden from their (the Chosen) shoulder. ²⁶This is the plan proposed for the whole earth, and this the land outstretched over all nations. ²⁷The Lord of Hosts has planned; who can thwart her? Her hand is stretched out; who can turn it back? Isaiah 28. Against Judah. ¹⁴Therefore, hear the word of the Lord, you arrogant, who rule this people in Jerusalem: ¹⁵Because you say, "WE have made a covenant with death, and with the Netherworld we have made a pact; When the overwhelming scourge passes, it will not reach us. For we have made lies our refuge, and in falsehood we have found a hiding place,"--- ¹⁶Therefore, thus says the Lord God, SEE, I am laying a stone in Zion, a stone that has been tested (a song). A precious cornerstone as a sure foundation (Ghavam-Yuengling as songbird); he who puts his faith in her shall not be shaken. ¹⁷I will make of right a measuring line; of justice, a level,--- Hail shall sweep away the refuge of c lies, and water shall flood the hiding place. ¹⁸Your covenant with death is canceled, and your pact with the Netherworld no longer stands. When the overwhelming scourge passes, you liars shall be trampled down by it. ¹⁹Whenever it passes, it shall take you; morning after morning it shall pass. By day and by night: terror alone shall convey the message. ²⁰For the bed shall be too short to stretch out in, and the cover too narrow to wrap in. ²¹For the Lord shall mount up as on Mount Perazim, bestir herself as in the Valley of Gibeon, TO carry out her work, her singular work, to perform her deed, her strange deed, ²²Now, be arrogant no more, REPENT! lest your bonds be tightened, For I have heard from the Lord God, the God of Hosts, The destruction decreed for the whole earth. 🌎 May 4, 2023. 8:48. We are so happy to welcome you home to St. Peter's! Joining in prayer and praise for your healing, and for the opportunity to walk alongside you in this life and Eastertide!
Make sure you have 2 + pair of sneakers for your walk and extra socks. Being in a family of athletes, the feet are most important for endurance and need to be comfortable and protected. Good luck!
Working on toughening up the feet, and auditioning socks along the way! Thank you for the luck, and keep us in your prayers!

Please pray for Anne Carthy who has “failed”. She’s now in a wheelchair. My sisters and l visit her together on Sundays. She’s not able to express herself much. Her caregivers say she does have moments of clarity from time to time. She knows she’s loved and we sing many songs and hymns with her. She sometimes hums along. Thankfully we are fairly certain she’s not in pain. Thank You!

You are most welcome! Hope all is well with you, Abbie!
I wanted to say that I've been following along for a few weeks now and the daily office videos have played an important part in my process of reconstructing my faith and reconnecting with Christ. I'm very grateful for you all. I moved from Tennessee to New York as an ex-evangelical turned atheist and have yet to connect with a local church here. To be honest, until we're mostly free from masks, I will probably continue to do the best I can to grow through virtual offerings. I'd rather not share much more in this public space but would love to chat with someone about such things as good study Bibles and commentaries. Thanks again for being a part of my new virtual church family.
Rob, thank you for giving us this blessing. Welcome home to St. Peter's. Our intention with that welcome carries with it the blessing that we know flows from you to us, and we welcome the transformation that your presence brings into our common life. Feel free to contact our rector through our parish administrator ( admin@stpetersspotswood.org ) so we can continue to extend that welcome. We appreciate the gift of your journey, and your discernment. Our prayers are with, and for you, in this pilgrimage.
