how do you tie it to your mainline?
@notmakai I use QC Swivels on my lead systems to allow me to change the rigs nice and quickly after each cast
@ thanks for the info mate!
@notmakai you're welcome mate, any time
One question: When you put the bait, do you have to turn the hook or do you leave it hanging as you see?
@davidortizgomez752 the bait stays on the hair and just hangs to create a separation between the hook and the bait
Thank you very much, I didn't know if you had to turn the hook around. @@mikesparksangler
@davidortizgomez752 no problem, the hook basically sits behind the hook pointing the opposite way to the bait, this is because it doesn't hook the fish when the fish takes it. It only hooks the fish when the fish tries to blow the rig back out
@@mikesparksanglerthanks you very much
👌🏻👌🏻
Still don't understand that "drop-off" system. As constructed it will drop-off on any drill of a carp. So, how many lead are you prepared for to drop into the water and pollute it? Better show us the sold bag system without the drop-off lead system.
@johanwithag2432 it's specifically for fishing into heavy weed, I use this concept a lot and the lead doesn't eject until it comes into real strain. Hardly ever lose leads on normal takes. But when the fish is in heavy weed I will only just put the tail rubber on so as soon as the fish has taken the bait and shaken the lead off, the fish then comes right up in the water and allows you to clear all the weed for safety.
i use knotless for all my carp🎣 pretty much, make sure your line has no defects and this knot never lets you down 👍
@@dface6447 nice, :) 100% agree
Great video, what solid bag leaders do you use or do you make them yourself thanks
@LucasCoelho-i3o thanks mate, I appreciate it. I always make them myself mate as i find them stronger. I have a video on just how to make them ;)
That was quick and easy

Do u need a membership to fish there or do u just rock up
@RileySmith-dk6lb it's just a dayticket lake now mate. Pay on the bank. Used to be closed as a syndicate for a while and then they opened back up as a day ticket with the option for an annual membership
@@mikesparksangler cheers mate quite new to fishing so I'm just gonna ust corn on the bottom got any suggestions
@RileySmith-dk6lb corn works well mate, can't beat the golden grain. The bigger fish in that lake tend to respond well to pellets and boilies but you'll catch a mixed bag on corn and natural baits. You only need to fish a rod length out on this lake as its very deep
@@mikesparksangler thanks mate do u know what fish is in here
@RileySmith-dk6lb carp up to low 30s and a mixed bag of course fish. Lots of roach, rudd, bream, tench and perch. Also F1s and specimen Crucians
Nice one man, i wonder if these work in a pva bag if i make them short?
@Lakenbeer yeah man it's the only rig I use in solid bags now
@@mikesparksangler sweet, I'd better buy some micro swivels!
Would you rather use a kicker so can be quick change to
@stephenwooding8704 great suggestion, I do tend to use the small kickers these days for close range work but I always use shrink tubing for distance casting as it grips better and stops the Slip D section sliding against the weight of the hookbait
@stephenwooding8704 i use some silicone tubing 0.7 mm it's tight going over the eye the first time, but you can reuse it over and over again. Kickers for me weren't tight enough the d section moved when loading a solid bag
When was this mate?
July 2023 mate. Haven't seen any this year yet unfortunately. Have you had any luck?
@@mikesparksangler Nope. I've been out a couple of times. There's loads of birds in the solent. I think they're feeding off the bait fish. When they move in shore the mackies will follow. I hope
@guessooTube let's hope so mate, they're late this year for sure
Size of shrink tube?
1.5mm wide but as long as it fits over the eye of the hook it's perfect.
Would this also work for chub fishing and other river fishing?
Yes, it works very well for most species of fish, but it will depend on the type of bait you use.
Well done. Couple of nice fish.
Thanks mate, great name too ;)
👌👌👌👌
Simple but effective
I really like the knotless knot for snelling hooks, too. It really is a strong knot that seldom fails via tension
100% mate, I use it a lot for all sorts of different fishing situations

Cheers dude :) have you tried it or something similar?
Fantastic Vid - some great tatics there and nice carp caught also That 27.10 was a beast 🎣
Cheers mate, appreciate it. Was a great session. Can't wait to get back down there 💪
Can you make a surface/topwater rig for carp
No problem mate I can do, also if you check out my video Surface fishing Newlands Farm at around 09:50 you will see my usual setup :) hope that helps
Great video😊 One thing though, please don't lift fish out of the water in the landing net use the sling!
Cheers mate really appreciate that, thanks for the feedback mate. In terms of fish-care either way is safe if you do it properly. Been doing this my whole life and never once had an issue. Just personal preference :) but great to see you're passionate enough about the sport to give it the thought :)
Where did you get the braid for your first rig?
It's the Caperlan tank braid in the dark camo colour. :) it's the same braid I use on all my rigs now.
Good little watch mate!
Cheers dude really appreciate that. :)
Great video pal well done on getting out in this cold weather keen angling 🎣🔥
Cheers mate, really appreciate that. 👍 do you get out fishing much this time of year?
Just found your channel and enjoyed your I’d.. great angling mate, easy to watch …looking forward to your next session…
Cheers mate appreciate that :) 🙏
Like the video mate, just wondering is it supposed to be jerky like jumping slightly after every few words you say? Just wondering if it’s my connection or how it’s edited?
Cheers mate, it is a bit jerky tbh. Probably just a shoddy edit mate🤣 learning as I go. Haha
@@mikesparksangler nah fair play to you for doing it mate, it wasn’t a criticism what so ever. I do a carping channel too and a channel for my work and I know what it’s like editing this stuff. Out of interest what camera and editing software do you use? I use Movavi and use a GoPro 9 camera.
Good video.... what camera are you using at the 2 minute time point?
Thanks mate, it's a Canon 6D Mark 2
Nice vid man 🔥
Cheers dude :) appreciate that

Excellent rig bro the best by far 10/10
Cheers dude means a lot, love this rig! :)
Do you class this as a winter rig
@thecarpfather5757 it does seem to work well in Winter but I think that's because when the leaves fall in Autumn there is a lot of debris on the lake bed so the chod lends itself perfectly to these kinds of situations. But equally I will use it in the summer over any heavy weed
@mikesparksangler did a day today with a buddy he's a sit and wait guy I like to roam my rods every 45 to 60 minutes single high attraction bsits and I had a fish he didn't I was using the multi rig wich is my go to rig in winter but I'm definitely thinking of using the chod as its something I've never used I don't feel confident in it but on the other 2 rods there were dead leaves and twigs this being from the middle of a silty lake so I was left thinking would I have had more had I used the chod im off the weekend for a roam with chods
@thecarpfather5757 good angling mate, it's always good to be thinking ahead. Got nothing to lose by trying :) best of luck for your trip
Bass because the # says bass fishing
That does give it away 😉
Cracking little rig vid pal 👏🏻
Cheers dude, means a lot 👊
Decathlon port solent. Sure you worked there. Nice fishing
Cheers mate appreciate it 👍
Good video mate, shame about the iffy cap 😂
Cheers mate, leave the hat alone. Its a good hat 🤣
Hi bud is that the fox straight point stiff rig hook? And what size do you use?
Yes, mate, I always prefer a straight point these days, i find the hook up ratio to be much higher. I nearly always go for a size 4. But as of this year, I've been using the Caperlan Chod hooks in size 4. They're crazy sharp, really strong, and a bit lighter
Question... how do i fit a pellet into the loop? Is the size adjustable or something?
You need to use a baiting needle and either a pre-drilled pellet or drill out a pellet and pull the hair loop through the bait. So the hair goes through the centre of the pellet and then trap it in place with a bait stop
What line is that?
It's the Caperlan Flow Braid in 25lb
Well done mate 👏
Cheers mate 👍
Mike Sparks, you look awfully familiar…. Sure I’ve seen you somewhere before. Cracking session mate.
🤣🤣
Quality session mike, my favourite three rigs are, blow back, chod and stiff hinge.... wish you every success for your channel and your fishing adventures, cheers 👍🎣🙂
Cheers dude, appreciate this! Great Rig choices mate. All very strong choices 💪
idk how to tie the overhand loop knot. i have tried so many times and it won’t go
I'll make a video for you mate 👍
Mate that's the hardest way I use a 360 bait screw with a swivel built in to the screw and tungsten hook beads and tungsten chod bead the swivel on the leader is a QC swivel the chod bead slides over the swivel to stop the loop coming off 1 figure of 8 knot 3 and a 3 turn grinner knot to tie the hook on
Sounds practical mate, I'm sure all those bits work but the reason I tie this is to reduce the metal components and make everything lighter and more sensitive. Cute fish are certainly more sensitive to metal, their lateral lines are finely tuned.
@mikesparksangler I have the same amount you do you use a swivel on the hook same as me but its a plastic bait screw that has the swivel you use built in to the plastic bait screw so no need for the D part and you use a bead try tungsten beads they are rubber impregnated with tungsten no need for putty or shot
@aarondavies8486 ah nice, sounds good mate. Cheers for the idea. I like the putty because it covers the knot and the "perfect loop knot" because it sits dead straight. Just a preference but I must admit I've tried a lot of different ways in the past. 😂
Do you use alot of decathlon tackle mate
I'm an ambassador for Caperlan mate so yes mostly. Have you tried any of the products?
@@mikesparksangler yeah mate I use a lot of the flours and meals they sell for boilie making
@Aaron Davies Nice mate, the bait ranges are great and the boilie ranges are really good, my favourite is the new flavour Crustacean and black pepper.
@@mikesparksangler I don't buy the boiles I but the corn meal hemp meal and a few other to roll my own boilies
@Aaron Davies yeah that's fair enough mate, I used to roll my own hookbaits but now I only use Caperlan or DNA Baits
What bag is that in the background
It's the new luggage from Caperlan mate, it's from the All in one range and this one is size Medium. Fits my tackle box inside and a load of other bits plus it has the rigid table top. Brilliant bit of kit.
name of the box please ?
It's the Korda Tackle Box, I love it and it fits perfectly inside one of my luggage bags as a whole rig station. Maybe I'll make a video on it soon :)
Stop doing what everyone is doing mate be different
Get yourself some triggerlink brother best thing for this ring
Got some Triggalink and got some hooks on order too, Cheers guys. 👍🎣
The best thing for any rig is using components you have 100% confidence in. I have caught hundreds of Carp on this exact setup. If ain't broke don't fix it 😊
@Shane King best braid going mate no one uses it and with the new nash running leadclips its devastating them new leadclips are a game changer no lead to use to get rid of the rig also please soak your triggerlink in warm water befor use to get rid of all the pva other wise don't work as good brother
@Mike Sparks true but they will wise up to rigs the bungee cord of triggerlink carp have no clue what to do with it and that added to the running leadclips no matter how weary the carp just have no clue what to do as no one uses triggerlink only person I have ever seen use it on TH-cam is Jim shelly
@Aaron Davies do what works best for you mate. That's one of the joys of angling, it's the very personal approach that give the best rewards
What brand of Hook did you use for this rig?
Caperlan is the brand mate. The hook pattern is called 900 Wild X
@@mikesparksangler ok thanks, I like the look of them, cheers for the prompt reply.
@Shane King no problem mate, I'm actually out on the bank right now using them. They're great hooks, really aggressive, and strong 💪
@Shane King its off decathlon
@@aarondavies8486 yep, it's the decathlon fishing brand
