Is it always the brain disconnecting from the body? Is it the mind connecting with the brain causing what appear to be physical problems? How can fnd as a diagnosis properly cater to the needs of those with some physical problems and also those with what psychiatrists believe is a mental health problem? Are we now supposed to believe that disorders of the mind as we used to understand them no longer exist and at the same time prevent patients from having an understanding of such mental illness from which they can recover?

Would you bite the bullet Dr and tell us all why patients would feel stigmatised by what used to be considered a mental/psychological illness. Is it simply because some medics were not cared to care appropriately?

I was a very fit 68 yr old walking atleast 6000 steps each day. A few weeks after my 1st astrazeneca jab i lost my sence of balance and 3 yrs later i am now totally reliant on a walker and diagnosed with FND. Could the jab - now banned or pulled from use in most countries, been a contributory factor.?

My Daughter developed FND 16 months ago. The NHS in the UK can be a postcode lottery and access to capable neurological specialists was next to non existent. We ended up getting a private diagnosis and paying for private physical rehabilitation and private CBT. All whilst paying my taxes for the above. Yay

Thank you so much! This is so crucial. There is such a terrible lack of awareness and resources and care and treatment options for people with FND in Australia. And few neurologists in Australia who are interested to research or be involved in FND clinics, unlike a greater proportion in England who are often leading the pack on their understanding and approaches. Thank you to this amazing neuro-psychiatrist. I hope every state in Australia follows this model and provides similar publicly available clinics. The only worry is, there is such huge need for thos that clinic wait times will be several years long i imagine. But currently there is NO public health clinics for fnd to my knowledge ( utterly disgraceful), so thos is a brilliant start!!!!
