Hi sis! Hilo isn’t like other cities where everything is walk-friendly. However, the main shopping areas are a short drive away (about 5-7 min away from campus or 1.5 miles) The school does offer target shuttles and Safeway/Walmart are in the same area.

I just applied to University of Hawaii Hilo and I’m so excited! I was wondering how long it takes to hear back if you’ve been accepted? Also, how far is the campus from the beach? The reason I ask is because I’m planning on majoring in marine science and love being near the ocean.

Hi there! Does a Loft- Double occupancy mean that there are 2 people in one single room or is it two people in one room with the shared roommates in another (similar to your tour) with the shared living space/ bathroom and kitchen
kathy rangel double occupancy means 2 people in ONE room. However you share the whole unit/suite with 4 other suitemates, that totals to 6 people in a whole unit!

Hey! I just want to ask if what does a Quad Occupancy Bedroom looks like at Waterfront Lofts or a Studio? Also, I was looking at the rates for housing at HPU, for studio with quad occupancy, the rate is $4275 per semester, is that per student or is it divided by 4 students so it would be $1,068.75 per student? Hope you can help me because I’m planning to live in dorms this coming Fall 2020. Thank you!!
Ashley Grace hi hi! A quad occupancy means 4 people in one room! And the whole loft houses up to 7 people. The $4275 per semester is to be paid by you only. I had a double occupancy, so it was me and another student in one room, and in the other bedroom in the loft, there was 4 people. The waterfront lofts are two levels. A bedroom on top and one on the bottom. The studio is smaller! Hope that helps you!

GarnerTV Hi! That’s so exciting! I have a few suggestions: 1) Haunted Plantation 2) Hallowbaloo in Chinatown! 3) Waikiki Block Costume Party (as shown in this video) Are just a few things I know that are pretty huge in the area. Definitely check them out if the dates work out for you!

Ive been trying to decide between UHH and HPU, which campus do you prefer?
Treasure Moss hi! It really all depends on what you’re looking for. HPU is quite a small school in comparison to others but the dorms are beautiful! However, the campus isn’t its own, a lot of the classrooms are amongst other business buildings and very public. I like UHH a bit better because for me, the education offered at UHH was better for me for the price difference. Also, UHH is a bigger school but since it’s in Hilo, it doesn’t really offer the city lifestyle Oahu offers. Hopefully that helps! Feel free to DM me on insta on anymore questions😊
How are the 3rd floor quad rooms at waterfront?
Alexandra Samuel hiya! The 3rd floor quad rooms are usually bunked. The common areas are very nice and there are study rooms, too. It’s fully air conditioned and if I’m not mistaken, there is a kitchen for everyone to use. The bathrooms are VERY nice.
