In Qld the catfish like that are referred to as either eel tailed cats or fresh water jewfish. I've caught them up here, they are meant to be good eating, I think you got to skin it first though. I'm surprised to see them there in the Goulbourn, I definitely never caught one down there.
As a kid I lived in Murchison for a while. Where you are there, the water looks to have stuff all of a current/flow, is that the Goulbourn R. proper? Or is Mitchelstown close enough to Nagambie that the water there is basically the backwaters of the Lake. I'm just surprised how little current/flow looks to be moving past there. Not that there's that much flow in the Goulbourn downstream at Murchison but the water there always seemed to have visible movement to it. I think I may have driven through Mitchelstown once coming from lake Eppalock to Lake Nagambie as a kid but I never went to Mitchelstown as such. The fishing in the Goulbourn was crap back in the 80's, unless you were a carp fisherman, it was heaven for a carp fisherman. The canals fished better then the river.
Hey. I think it’s backwaters of the nagambie lake. Not 💯 sure. Not much in the town other than wineries and the camp sites 😊
@@Roadtrippinkings I had a look on Google and I think where you were fishing was part of what is either called Mitchells' creek or Major creek according to Google maps... Perhaps its Major Mitchells creek lol looks like it may have been a former route of the Goulburn river that the river ended up bypassing. It certainly explains why the water there appeared so still.
