Broadcom didnt really know how to cover VFL football in it's year as host broadcaster in 1987. A good example is they covered a panasonic night game between Brisbane and Sydney and the camera work was deplorable. They couldnt even follow the ball properly unlike 7 did in it's glory days of covering the game.

Loved hey hey. Watched every episode of the show since 1976. Daryl and Ossie left Channel 9 and went to Channel 0 Melbourne for one year in 1978 which didnt work out in a night time variety show. Came back in 79 and went on for 20 years after that and a bit in the 2000's era for a short while. Cannot see this type of show being bought back now because of the politcally correct "woke" army.

Like Hey Hey its Saturday when in ended in 1999, the ratings for Don's show were still very good when it ended in 1983. Bert did his own tonight show the following year but that didnt last long, The live productions at GTV9 were expensive and that's the reason why so many great shows that came out of Studio 9 ended. IMT, Don Lane Show, Graham Kennedy Show, Hey Hey, Don Lane Show. You wont see a variety program on australian television again.
