Fantastic watching on this December 22, 2024, two days after Southside announced his retirement. It's been a great 50 years, Johnny! Thanks for the memories!

Southside needs some barrettes, or a hairband or something. Those sweaty bangs are driving me to distraction. And he's just not that good or unique. His band is (but Steven arranged them). I don't think Johnny had much to offer. I look at the album credits for "I Don't Want To Go Home" and no songs are attributed to Johnny. He's dispensable. He's a poor man's Eddie Money.

A DIVERSITY of NJERSEY musicisns coalescing , not born in a cornfield !

Southside Johnny played at a club near my campus circa '79-ish some gals and I dropped in special occasions (queens birthday, ground hogs day, st paddys day, valentines-of course) for liquid lunches we dubbed 'elmo' .. At that time being truly flat-broke walking out from an underpaid before walking out work experience in a factory in our fashion district daytime (coincidentally south of mr Southsides night venue) and soon after a longtime beau and I split from being 'paired'.. I liked "talk to me' tremendously .. woulve liked talking to mr Southside but shy to approach him (from where I below was having a few in pawns section than prawns upper crust stage not having cover) standing atop staircase leading to upstairs playing section where i missed the stones surprise performance one night thru being patriotic to canadian talent.. tho other group april wine presented the club with good sets despite being 'east coasters'_hope things are fine_

I saw Southside some month ago in Utrecht (the Netherlands) Still a great singer with a great show.

I saw them at the El casino in Montreal in 1978. I have a tape of that excellent show!!!!

In the 1992 European tour I saw the three venues in Italy. Milan at Rolling Stones discoteque; in Scandiano (Reggio Emilia) at Corallo discoteque; in Rome at Palladium discoteque. In Scandiano Richie La Bamba Rosemberg go out in the middle of the performance because he drunk too much beers. The bass player was David Yates!

This was my band. All I could remember is High School was Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes. From the first time I heard "I dont want to go home" I was hooked , Thanks guys for giving me reasons to spend my money on Albums and Concerts

Criminal that Springsteen and the E Street Band played the Agora earlier that month (August 9, 1978) and they did not run the in-house video system. Would have been the greatest captured show in Rock history.

Seems like it would be fun to be there but the music sucks!

Cleveland and The Agora have both of these guys their breaks into the music industry. Never forget that.
