XS850 3 cylinder YAMAHA BUILD & SOUND CLIPS
Always wanted a MV AGUSTA triple, but what I had and could afford was a Yamaha XS850 triple, so I built the YAMAGUSTA Y3 900 three cylinder. Sound clips are near the end of the video.

1979 XS750 YAMAHA 3 CYLINDER CAFE RACER. My objective when I decided to build a Yamaha XS750 Triple Café Racer was to make it look like it came from the factory after I was done, and basically..... improve on the looks, cornering, braking and keep it ride able and reliable. The build started out with a Photoshop Concept and a CAD drawing, that way I new what the desired finished product should ...

Beauty.
I sailed on her over New Year's 83-84. A great time.
incredible work!
You gona ride that thing or what..cool bike 😊
How do you convert the shaft to chain?
Beautiful... Triple... DOHC... I've owned a 78 and 79 and now a 23 MT 09. 45 years of yams triples.
What an ugly bike 😂😂😂….
Firstime on Poly 1981, captain was John Green. The Flying Cloud and Fantome
エンジンがカッコ良いから改造しがいがある。
Wow...extraordinary design elements. Beautiful lines! 10/10!
nice! we had 3 of them in our family garage since the early eighties… we swapped them between us 3 brothers… took one with me to university in stuttgart. once I did a ride through the forests around city and took a break… 3 very old gentlemen in hiking gear stopped at the bike, discussing… and pointing at it.. I wondered and asked … turned out that they were retired porsche engineers and the motor and the transmission was once a project of them in the porsche engineering lab…“ ah we helped a bit these friendly japanese to improve the engine and drew the transmission. transmission was then produced at GETRAG near Stuttgart, put in wooden boxes and transported to japan. They do all the porsche transmissions since decades. the engine stood very near to some test samples of our 6 cylinder boxers in the workshop and we loved that it got some acoustic genes from the 911..“ then they hiked on with a smile…😉
Regarding the front end, did you keep the xs fork lowers and only used the bfr stanchions?
Great bike but Kawasaki green on a Yamaha?
Since the rear end components are mostly off an R6, does that mean rear suspension has to be off an R6 as well or does xs750 suspension still fit ??
The XS suspension still fits, only the the top shock mount has been relocated
These old long stroke triples sounds so good 🤩
I bought an 1978 XS750 a couple years ago as a cheap commuter but the longer I have it the more I aspire to building it like this one. Sounds amazing and looks great. I would love to find a build list for this bike.

Where is your front fender from? How is it mounted? Looks great!
Fender is from a Honda CM250
My father bought a 1979 xs750 special when I was about 3 years old he strapped me to his stomach with his belt and as my mom shit a brick we did a 1-3 rip down the block and from then I’ve dreamt of owning his. He sold it (with massive regret later.) and I was indeed heartbroken and retired his later bike a vstar 1100. I plan on bringing an xs back into the family soon. This video brought a good sound and better memories to my night and restarted the passion.
Very nice build but why WHY condnt we have just a tiny listening to that fab Tripple? 😎
th-cam.com/video/-72fbuSqzcU/w-d-xo.html
MIne was dark green. It was only my second bike and I loved it.😎
Hey, I love what you did. I own a XS750 too, did you do anything different with the ignition system?
no, it's all stock
Solid work, really dig it!
what fuel tank did you use?
Gus Kuhn Norton style. This one was made by Legendary Motors from Florida.
Hi could you tell me how you modified the xs400 front wheel to take dual discs. I assume spacers were required as well. Thanks Phil. Bike looks fantastic
The only mods I made to the wheel were, different size bearings to accommodate the VFR750 axle and yes, custom spacers. The XS400 wheel has provision already for dual disc.
Yay!
Hi, can you Tell me If using the Forks and triples from all VFR750s is possible? Or are there differences between the rc24 and rc36 models? Greetings.
Sorry don't know the answer to that.
This is the most beautiful sounding machine I have ever heard Where can I find the exhaust or how much would you charge to replicate that for my 750
Yeah it sounds real good. Thanks for the compliment. I'm not in business to produce parts, I just fab stuff for my own bikes. Sorry
There is a guy in New Zealand that races an XS750 in Post Classic Racing. He has a chain final drive conversion on it.
just got one of these like 5 days ago. I didn't know these bikes were this cool! I was just guessin and really lookin for a KZ. I think this will work for me lol! My last bike was a Buell, and it was difficult to work on due to lack of space for hands, also had to use a laptop for tps resets. If the battery was a little low, it would let you ride for 37 miles or so then leave you stranded. I look forward to all analog and mechanical fixins
What kind of tail light is that? Can you please put up a link for it??! Beautiful build!
Thank you for putting a smile on my face. 😊
@al baljeu such a well-done bike... and that sound! You have me looking for a 750 triple now... ;) Was this a stock tank? The seated angle looks a little more horizontal... LOVE the bodywork choices.
Check out the video I made "XS750 Yamaha build process" it details what I did with the tank and seat.
@@albaljeu4826 thanks. I found that shortly after my post
Really interesting bikes in there, well done!
Where can I get those Bars ? Thanks Del
I really do need to ride the Tail... this reminds me of running up into the Sierras on my old XS750.
Hiya, I'm wondering what you did for the chain drive conversion, kit? Home built? Advice appreciated.
Beautiful !😎👍
Great job 👍
looks great but i cant help to think it sounds like a old riding lawn mower
Same bike, sounds like a lawn mower ? th-cam.com/video/-72fbuSqzcU/w-d-xo.html
great build, inspiring
Actually dig the music...sick bike too
I keep seeing this style of seat on a lot of cafe builds but can’t seem to find anything about how to do it
very nice bike :) which kind of front brake disks did you use? Are there any, that fit on the wheel of the xs 750 and are also compatible with the brakes of the vfr 750?
I would rather take this than Ninja or anything else.. I like this a lot. i dont know why i like it so much though... i simply do.
That thing sounds amazing and looks even better, well done!
Beautiful bike I'm building one right now any info on where you got the rear taillight shocks an digital dash
You have done a reall nice job on that tail, love it, well thought out
Wow man, beautiful bike! Where did you get the fender in tank for that?
Great little slide show Al! I know the guy that owns the TX750 Ice Racer that is in there!
Very good and thanks for posting. I signed up for the 2006 cruise. I thought it would be booked out but unfortunately due to lack of response it did not happen. Anyway, great memories.
