Would you recommend that CAT air compressor and 25-30 PSI for an xTool D1 Pro 20w set up?
Yes I would - I literally used it for 4+ hours today on a 40W Xtool D1 Pro. I have the 20W also, and it should work great for that too. And if you do decide to go for it, you can use my affiliate link if you'd like Amazon to send me a few bucks: amzn.to/40f3FQr
Have you looked into a way to be able to use the automatic on/off that is in the Xtool software with a regular compressor?
I want build plans. Please
Also I watched one of your videos and you mentioned there’s an area in light burn where you have to set your laser at its fullest power potential. Meaning you can have the cut set at 100% but if the setting was set lower your laser would only use a percentage of the power. Please advise. Thank you for your help! 😊
We are having trouble with a warning error that is coming up. It states the Z-Axis is close to 0. We have it set at 14 as we’re working on 3mm. Any suggestions?
Where to purchase Lightburn?
Love your contend and clarity of explanation it fills me with confidence to turn on my S1 which is now a year old and genuinely never been used, in my defence l do have a couple of excuses but there are only excuses. My next problem is from what l can see Lightburn is your go to. Should l bite the bullet and start to use Lightburn or just use xtool software, or more simply put instead of that being a loaded question, what advantages does Lightburn in general. I hear personal choice etc and software cost, leaving these out I'm at a fork in the road from a learning process.
hey - thanks for the kind words. Regarding XTools software vs. Lightburn, I’m definitely a fan of Lightburn, but I do think it depends on the situation because XTool’s software is also a solid option. My general take on which to learn depends on how far you plan to go with engraving. If you want to learn advanced techniques and eventually use multiple lasers (including at least one laser that is not XTool brand) then Lightburn is a better option in my opinion. on the other hand, if you just want to use your S1 for simple projects, then XTools software should be good for that. Hope that helps.
@asherdiy thanks brother, appreciated.

There's actually Diode, CO2, Fiber, UV and infrared lasers...
Dude, you talk waaaay too fast, so hard to follow along and need to keep backing up the vid
Quick question I am getting the toolpaths engraved lightly on my projects using lightburn and a Foxalien 40watt laser , actually laser is only 10watts . But sold as 40. Anyways what causes the too paths to engrave on my projects?
Hm - I'm not sure. I'm actually running a project right now with a tool path, and the tool path is NOT cutting/engraving for me. To be clear, when I say tool path, I'm talking about the T1 and T2 layers. Maybe double check that you don't have the layer doubled up with a non-T layer on top of the T layer. Hope that helps!
It may be my old eyes or poor glasses but to me the 5/500 (at 11 minutes into the video) is better. This brings up a pet peeve of mine - people who assume that it is "obvious" that something is the best. How about another video where you have 8 dog images, and you go over each one pointing out the criteria that you used to select the best one?
The options on the adjust image settings are fairly subjective, so I'm not surprised to hear that you (or others) might like a different option better. That's where personal preference comes in, and you can choose whichever combination of settings work best for your project. From my perspective, I think the most important piece of the puzzle here is knowing WHAT to test in the first place, and then choosing the results of those tests are up to each person. Anyway, thanks for the comment, and thanks for watching.
Thanks, who is the supplier for the 3M tape?
I buy it off of Etsy
Excellent Merci .
Outstanding! Thank you.
Another one to watch multiple times. Too much to adsorb in one pass for me. You are the best!
Thanks! And you might just be my top commenter, thanks for watching!
I’m glad I discovered your channel! I assembled my laser (and enclosure and ventilation) just this week, and I’m learning not to make things beautiful instead of crispy. 😅
Hey - thanks for watching my channel, and good luck with the new set-up!
Thank you for taking the time to do, and explain all of this. Definitely saved me time and process in my mind relating. Now to figure out some numbers!
Excellent presentation!
Really helpful. Thanks so much!
Great stuff, ha literally in the middle of filming a video pretty similar, loved how you explained the DPI/line interval.
Hey Brandon - thanks! I'm glad you liked my crayon explainer lol
What is the brand os paint and where did you get it?
Thanks!
3:45 Interesting, EpilogLaser has a Projekt on their side where they use Polyethylene Foam. And I think they know about, what is good in the laser and what not.
Can the 10w do materials like tumblers or zippo lighters?
Yes to 201 vid!
When I select what i want to engrave it selects all, cant figure out why - help
For Ocooch you must have priced out a different type of ply because Baltic Birch is WAY cheaper than you have. The site currently reads: 1 piece 1/8" x 12" x 12" at $1.36 a piece. I am not associated or have i ever bought from these dudes before but yeah this is majorly wrong just saying.
Thanks!
No - problem thanks for the tip!
Thank you for this! I was SO lost.
Xtools Air Assist currently on sale for $45. I'm not saying it's because of this video, but I'm not saying it ISN'T. 😂😉
Hi! Thank you for your video! What is the purpose of CH340 driver instillation? I installed LightBurn on my PC without any issues However, I didn't connect PC to Laser engraver.. So, is driver required for Lightburn instillation or it's required for connection?
The best tutorial on light burn 🔥 thank you
This is a year old video... When I was looking at xtool s1 last night they now have one that comes with a 10w
Thank you!!
Really nice and useful video and other videos you made! I just bought a Laser Engraver/cutter (AtomStack A24/X24 Ultra Optical Power 24W ) but have a question. Normally you set the position (different height) of the laser for cutting or engraving. If you use your test file to see what settings to use, do you change the laser height if you are only cutting or do you just leave it at the "engraving height"? In short...do you do multiple test runs on the same type of material you use?
Why do mine engraves on the other side as well where i engraved?
@@wonderworld5489 I had that problem when I got a bit of paint INSIDE the glass. If you make sure the inside of the glass is super clean, that might prevent that problem.
@asherdiy great thank you 😊 ❤️
Very well put together channel. Subbed and looking forward to new content. Doing a great job, sir.
@@donutman3089 - thanks so much! I’ve got big plans for a new series starting probably early next month :)
i'm considering getting the P2S. do u recommend an air compressor for that or is the built in air assist sufficient? i'm a newbie so pardon me if stupid question.
Hi - not a stupid question at all. I suggest you watch my XTool P2 review. it’s the most recent video on my channel, and it touches on your question about the P2S.
Great explainer for beginners. 👍 I use the same air settings as you for cut and engrave, but with no air engraving I find I'm cleaning my lens every 10 mins. Have you tried using very little air assist during engraving just to stop the fumes going up and sticking to the lens? Would that be a huge hassle to switch air pressure settings between cutting and engraving all the time?
Thanks - and in theory, I think it is a good idea to have the air assist on low for engraving. It would probably need to be quite low, like around 2-3 PSI, because even running around 5 PSI I’ve gotten scorch marks on the sides of engravings. Personally, I just turn it off completely, but if I were running a more expensive laser, I might spend some more time tinkering to find a low PSI to run for engraving that doesn’t scorch the engravings. So in summary, I do think running air assist on super low while engraving is a good idea if you can find the perfect setting where it doesn’t scorch, but in practice I just turn my air off completely.
@@asherdiy same here. I might experiment with it one day so I don't have to wipe my lens clean every 10mins.
i decide for the sculpfun 22w, a 40w its too expensive but im trying to start a small business here so i got the max power and work surface i can afford. thanks for the video!
Save time? You can do a lot of sanding in the one month it took you to perfect this.
That's true, and that is what I did before this. However, once you get a set-up like this dialed-in, the time savings compound over time.
But without air assist during engraving you have to clean the lens very often. It's also taking much of the time.
