Yeah there's a lot of ways to win this one. My computer was really starting to struggle towards the end with how big the map was and keeping the recording going.

Yeah this tutorial was actually really helpful for me. I was lost on HD when I got it more than a year ago, and this actually cleared up the basics for me. Great game for sure.

This was probably the most difficult mission I've played in AOE2.

I'm guessing they're trying to strike a balance between the old game and modern technology. Definitely difficult to achieve that. Voice acting has been the weakest point. The interface, I suspect either mods or the developers will make changes eventually.

The voice acting seems to be the weakest link, and the UI as well. I hope those are adjustments they can make going forward.

This isn't a remaster, though. We already have the remaster on Steam. It's called Extended Edition. Retold is a remake. Although, I do prefer the original voice acting and will likely mod it in.

Yeah the voices aren't the best. There are a lot of sharp cuts, too, which makes me think we haven't gotten the full picture yet.

​@@vincida7432I'm sure there will be an in game mod to replace it with the original voice over. In the original she sounds more godly like a higher being. In the new one she sounds like like a tourist that is lost

Yeah I'll play the old one with friends, too. It was one of the first LAN games I did when I was a lot younger. Brings back the memories.

The UI has been messy for sure and the hotkeys for the Norse have been difficult, especially with the military units needing to build buildings. And there were sudden cut offs in the cut scenes. I'm thinking they'll be able to fix those? I haven't played the original AoM campaign in many years, I'm not sure how they compare.

I couldn't tell who the lightning was for either lol. I thought it was being used on me, but it seemed most of my things survived?

Well, sorry, but this game looks worse than Age of Empires 3 DE... How can you tell that these graphics are stunning? I thought they would upgrade all the building models etc, but roofs looks terrible for example, same with the trees. It is not looking great, not even close to stunning. It looks just better than regular AoM sadly...

Been awhile since I've played AoE3 I do think it looks better than the original AoM though. There are few things and unit movements that do look weird though. Still the beta, maybe they can make some adjustments

I hope they improve the character voices

@@elwow4351 I tried replacing the new voice acting with the classic and it worked perfectly! Extract the contents of the .BAR file, replace the new mp3 files with the classic game ones, repack the new .bar file and thats it!

Yes it appears so but they also still have settlements, too. I'm not sure what the difference is exactly.

@@GettingBetter-zv6ok the tooltip mentioned the difference: without a settlement, it's considered a "village center" and doesn't contribute to pop cap + works slower/hits softer.

Ah that makes sense. I think the settlements still add extra max population passed the cap, like it did in the original

I used to use a mod, but they've built it into the game now. If you got to options > game > then set Building Range Indicator to Always Show. That's how I have them set up. Thank you for stopping by and commenting. I appreciate it.
