Perfect Apache: by James_Bond On the Workshop! steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=657928629&searchtext=Perfect Apache I hope you enjoy watching. If you are thinking of using clips of this creation or the machine from the workshop when I get around to posting it there, then please post a link to the original video OR the workshop item. Music: "Wandering" from Gunnar Olsen
A massive and complex machine in action is pure poetry.
please do more besiege man! I'd like to see whatever contraptions you're making lately.
I'm soooo busy of the late! and I was playing vertix.io for a while. But i'll do that within a couple weeks rest assured!
James Bond that's great to hear. Btw, what's vertix.io?
James Bond that's great to hear. Btw, what's vertix.io?
it's an online site where you play 2D character fights with tdm or ffa. It's not a magic game, but it's a gun game with a few different classes that are set with one weapon type. there are no upgrades or anything but it's fun to play other people and compare stats. (it keeps track of your KD and world rank if you make an account). my world rank got to 73rd at one point in time and my kd is 2.63 lol. It's all in the luck of the lag
James Bond luck of the lag XD well that seems interesting, I'll try it out if I ever one day get a computer.
Apologies for the windowed screen. My recording program cannot record full screened as strange as that may be.
It ok bro lol
Holy shit, you fuckin good
Assassinator1232 Thanks mate :)
tutorial?!?!?!?
+jackson schumacher what type of tutorial would you be interested in? how to use the creation or how to build in general?
James Bond how to make it. Thanks if you will do it.
jackson schumacher I'll be thinking about whether I will or not. Thanks for the suggestion!
Looks cool, seems good to. Much better than my copter, Mine can fly but it crashes like a drunk maroienatee after a few seconds.
Thanks mate, just keep messing with it and it will work just as well too!
+James Bond Thanks!
video looks really good. wish i had the patence to do this type as well. keep up the good work dude
Thanks! you don't have to make videos like this to be satisfied. You have a style of your own that is funny and cool in its own right ;)
Sorry about the low frame rate when I sped up the exploding ram scene!
It's up on the workshop finally!
Nice job. But I would recommend using the standard wing blocks instead of what you're using as propellers now, you can hook braces to them and they would be better overall.
+Ludwig The Great Thanks a lot mate. I'm curious about your suggestion since i still haven't posted it on the workshop. Do you mean the square wing blocks with the connection points? If so, I was of the opinion that they look bulky and maybe a little tacky. The two reasons i chose the bat wings combined with propellers was because the propellers look too strange by themselves but the bat wings don't have enough lift by themselves. There really is no perfect option, but I'd love to investigate other options even if they may seem tacky in theory.
James Bond Yeah honestly, the bat wings are the most visually appealing, but the square wings will give you the best results. They give even lift in any direction perfectly, and have connection points for extra stability. The only way to make those look good would to maybe use beams/braces to point or enlingate the shape of the propeller.
Ludwig The Great Good point, I'll try it out. There is also the possibility of taking off the bat wings and sneaking on an extra length of propellers by sticking a small block out there that isn't too noticeable. This could look the most realistic of all of the options. The issue is that I have tried to do this twice (and it worked) but it had more stability issues than my present design. The rotor will begin to "knock" if the helicopter sustains too many G's in a pull up or several 360 spins which will snap off the wings, and this happened much more often when I used this elongated method to make the apache look better. I'd be open to try that again and your suggestion before I post it for good.
I'll be posting this on the workshop in the next couple days then i'll work on another video for Saturday. Most likely I'll keep to that scheduled from now on. I'm still full of these contraptions that i'd love to share!
James Bond Ok, sounds cool. But I also just had another idea. You know how parts can be resized now, like stretching them and such? Well you could take the square wing blocks and stretch them possibly make them look like skinny long propellers, then you could still hook braces on the for great stability.
