The LAR’s legally acceptable / authorized representative consent is required in case a participant is incompetent (medically or legally). 5.9. Electronic / online consent may be obtained for research involving sensitive topics while safeguarding information and data and also if required for regulatory clinical trials. 5.10. Individual consent is important and required, even if the community gives permission for participation in a research study. 5.11. In studies using deception a true informed consent may lead to modification and may defeat the purpose of research. Such research should be carefully reviewed by the EC ethics committee before implementation.
