Types of Clusters Clustering Introduction Clustering Algorithms
มุมมอง 16K8 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video, I will be introducing my multipart series on clustering algorithms. I introduce clustering, and cover various types of clusterings. Check back soon for part 2. Credit for much of the information used to make this video must go to "Introduction to Data Mining" by Pang-Ning Tan, Michael Steinbach and Vipin Kumar. I refer to the first edition, published in 2006.
Heuristic Discretization Algorithm, Data Analytics, KDD, Data Processing
มุมมอง 4.9K8 ปีที่แล้ว
For this video, I will be talking about one of the algorithms used to discretize datasets. Discretizing a dataset is the act of reducing the number of discrete values so that it can be more easily analyzed. This method uses heuristics and discernibility formulas.

Decision Tree Building based on Impurity for KDD or Machine Learning
มุมมอง 50K9 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video, I create a decision tree using Gini Impurity to determine the splitting attributes. I originally created this video (and the others in my series) to be used with a specific KDD class which is taught at my home university. I first encountered this algorithm in class there. If you would like to look into this topic in more detail, or read a bit about some similar algorithms, I am i...

    Can this not be done on a calculator? It makes no sense if I use a calculator. Ummmm maybe I’m just slow but as soon as I try to understand it, the logic i’m using doesn’t work in every scenario 😂

    to make this even more simple: how much does 9 fit/go into 4? so 1 1 1 1 + 1 1 1 1 = 8 AND we still have 1 left from the 9, thus 9 mod 4, remaining 1

    I don't see why 3 element rules were excluded here. For sure the rule ACD=>F holds true with 100% confidence, or for example CDF=>A with 75% confidence

    Hi Laurel. Thanks for the video. Using clustering algos, how can I estimate the number of people on a railway station where the person is using a phone. We capture the latitude and longitude of the person from GPS data and want to calculate the number of people on a platform. Can you suggest a clustering algo suitable for the same. Please!!!

    When searching the core.What happen if we need to hide 2 or 3 attributes before we find indiscernibility relation? can we conclude that the core is multiple-attributes??

    • @laurelpowell1398
      @laurelpowell1398 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Regarding your question, sometimes there is not one single indispensable attribute but several. One method to find the core is after trying removing all the attributes in sets of one try removing attributes in sets of two and then three, etc.. This can tell you if the core has multiple attributes. In more complex larger datasets, a multi-attribute core is more common.
