The green beret have always held such a high esteem with me and my family because it takes an incredibly special human being to not only operate in direct action on that level but then simultaneously have the intellectual capacity and Charisma to train, educate and care for a host population in their own culture in Language. An then with them over in their hearts and minds to be sympathetic to your cause. Am I not destroying my enemies when I make friends of them? - Abe Lincoln. Extraordinary individuals, hopefully they pass something on to all of America's units.

For the record though, 8 of us 4th anglico marines were doing integration training with them in 2003 as preparation for deploying to iraq and afghanistan, we had 8 marines(i was one of them) go through phase four UW phase of training(4 weeks) that summer, actually attending the course as full on fully graded and evaluate students and members of candidate ODAs, as force multipliers. and later fought along side them in Iraq. Best training i ever went through to learn how to fight as an unconventional warrior and guerilla warfare, foreign internal defense, survival/woodcraft, civil affairs, conducting an insurgency within the republic of pineland. we only had two weeks notice in attendance of the course. lost 25 pounds of weight. jumped in with 150lbs Kit and full mission profile from a Casa aircraft, 15 mile infil over 22 hours of North Carolina appalacian countryside. game changer for me as a Marine Sgt.
