Tama County Against Turbines
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 27 มิ.ย. 2022
Tama County, Iowa, USA is home to some of the world's most productive farmland. Citizens are concerned about the impact industrial wind turbines can have on the land, quality of life, public safety and public health for people, livestock and wildlife. That's why the Tama County Against Turbines coalition educates and informs the public on the potential risks of industrial wind turbines, and to advocate for more stringent County ordinances to better protect people, land, wildlife and livestock. Tama County's ordinances regulating Commercial wind energy projects were first created in 1998, and separated from the master zoning ordinance in 2010. Supervisors reapproved the outdated ordinance in 2022 without a single change from 2010, despite strong calls for needed changes to update it. This channel features videos designed to educate and inform, including public meetings with Tama County officials. For more information, follow the TCAT coalition on Facebook @Tama County Against Turbines.
12/16/24 -HR Mgr Tries To Secure Contract Status & Massive Severance, BoA Vacancies Filled -Full Mtg
An innocuous agenda line of "HR-Discuss/approve contract" turns into a much larger discussion and citizen concern as it becomes know that the contract the HR Manager wishes to discuss is for herself -- to secure her job and/or severance package in the event that the incoming Supervisors wish to remove her without sufficient cause.
Another major issue that is voted upon in this meeting is filling the two vacancies on the Board of Adjustment after they had been vacant for 4.5 weeks and 1.5 weeks respectively. Considering the last vacancy on the BoA was left open for over 4 months, these appointments were done at lightning speed to try pushing through final decisions by a Supervisor Board whose majority is not returning after December 31.

-Engineer (skip to 0:38:40 of video; mostly roads & bridge updates)
-Economic Development-Discuss/approve Relinquish of local government status Department of Cultural Repairs (skip to 0:42:20 of video)
-HR-Discuss/approve contract (skip to 0:46:55 of video; the contract in question is to change the HR Manager from an appointed position to a contractually-employed position, including a weighted severance package with paying out significantly higher amounts of money if she is let go without cause within certain timeline points after the contract is in effect, and setting her salary and yearly pay increases. The length of this contract is currently planned for 5 years, which would put the renewal past ANY of the incoming Supervisor terms. The only other contracted department currently in the county is for the Engineer and Roads department, with contracts only at 3 years. One supervisor asked to push this decision to the following week since they had only received this multiple-page contract when they arrived for that day's meeting, while another supervisor continued to push to approve the contract the same day. Multiple questions were asked of the HR Manager, including who had created this suggested contract. The supervisors ended up tabling this vote for one week, and will likely vote on this during the 12/23/24 meeting. The HR Manager claims the copy of the contract, even before it is approved, is not to be public information.)
-Discuss/approve appointments to the Board of Adjustment (skip to 0:57:10 of video; out of 5 applications, only 3 were selected by the HR Manager to have an interview, for filling 2 openings. Interviews were held after the last meeting from 12/9/24.)
-Act on Central Iowa Juvenile Detention Center Agreement
-Approve claims
-Adjourn
**After the adjournment, the Supervisor Chairman decided which Board of Adjustment Appointee would be getting the shorter 6-month-remaining term and which would be getting the 4-year-remaining term. This decision was made by a coin toss, and the process is shown on this video. Skip to 1:01:20 of video.

I also seen this yesterday.. it was like stranger things lol
The front of the room might get a little crowded.
i hate these stupid lights with a BURNING passion.
Yes!!! I’ve heard of Robert Price, and have learned much from his research and podcasts. Your due diligence Carol and going down rabbit holes was very interesting!!!
Not cool. It is horrifying foreign invasion of our shores. Avangrid, you have whale blood on your hands! STOP THEM NOW!!!
Thank you for the great information you included with the video!
It’s like a scene from the Mothman Prophecies. It is creepy when all of a sudden red lights appear in the fields. Just had this experience yesterday for the first time.
🤦
Where’s the transparency?
So I came back and watched this again. Take a look at the expressions on their faces.
So a position that is appointed by the supervisors is filled without supervisor Hilmer knowing? When the position was filled last time all three supervisors were involved. It does not matter where the interview takes place all of the supervisors need to be involved unless they opt out themselves! This was not done correctly. Supervisor Hilmer said he did not approve of Tammy making that decision. Would it be wise to open up the position again and make sure it is done with clear communication?!
In a hill that is near where I live there are wind turbines but their lights are white, greetings from Mexico.
this reminds me of the scene in naussica and the valley of the wind with the swarm of ohms in the dark
164 near waco? Drove for like 10 miles with the whole landscape blinking red. Thought it was a dystopian matrix human farm. Looks insane.
Well that was very informative and eye opening. Thank you to the members of the public that voiced their concerns and thank you to the current supervisors giving honest answers. Most of the members of the public managed to conduct themselves very professionally.
At least make them out of sync so they look twinkly. That would give me a seizure to look at!
So will they do the moratorium or not? What are Anderson and Faircloth so afraid of?
They have not discussed the moratorium possibility again since the meeting when this video was filmed.
This was a very interesting discussion.
What a refreshing change for the county! So nice to have a Zoning administrator that follows up on requirements! Shame on whoever is off to the the side and ignoring the courteous request of quieting down so she could listen!
Ok, I just have to say that after listening to all of the meetings and public comments this sounds like someone got hurt feelings about the article in the paper and jumped right into "pay back" mode. I also caught a comment from the lawyer in one of the meetings about "personalities" and it sure sounded like he had an axe to grind with someone. What in the world is going on?!! I sure hope after that lawyer retires things can calm down and get back to the best for the county! It does sound like the current sanitarian is getting certified and doing a good job.
OH! A Go Fund Me?! Well it's nice to know there is somewhat of a heart showing?!
Very well said!
Banana Republic right here in Tama County. So sad that two of our supervisors want to stop listening to the people they serve.
There are some very good points brought up in the public comments here!
This is worth a second listen! There is a lot going on here that needs to be talked through and discussed.
It's a good thing the county currently has a sanitarian in a stand alone position.
I don't understand why the lawyer couldn't find the minutes from the Board of Health. I went on line and found them without any problem. Thank you supervisor Hilmer for starting a process to open communication with the Board of Health. Just listening to this meeting shows that open communication is a must!
Thank you for amending your action item. This is how a democratic process should be handled in my opinion. This can be adjusted in the future should the need arise.
Thanks for asking such great and important questions. They are what I would consider subjects that should be taken care of in a timely manner.
That's so cool looking but also mildly terrifying
Is it cool-looking enough that you would be happy seeing those blinking every night, even miles away through the windows of your house? Also makes it hard to enjoy the stars. Lean towards the "mildly terrifying" part of your statement!
For people that can’t make meetings every should be recorded & posted on a township site. Then everyone knows what’s happening because some board members don’t share some info.
Thanks for an honest answer Mr. Hilmer!
Does not appear that the taxpayers are getting much for their money from this group of public servants. Wonder how much they are paid by the taxpayers for their positions on this board?
Wind turbines can pull upper warm air columns down to the ground level and destroy vegetation.
Hope you get the attention this matter requires. Most of the time windmills don't pay for themselves and breakdown. Have you seen the videos when they fail? Flaming debre goes everywhere
I agree with everything she said.
Keep fighting the good fight. You have neighbors in Kansas that fully support your efforts.
wow
It would be great to link the video that she showed with this one.
Currently the video she shows to the supervisors during the meeting is available on our Facebook page, linked in the comments of this video posting. You should be able to find and view it at this link, even without logging in: facebook.com/groups/455131749695230/
A l'arrière-plan..........La recette n'a pas très bon goût!!
Pardonnez-moi, mon français n'est pas parfait. Je suis d'accord, ce n'est pas une bonne chose. Leurs bases perturberont les terres agricoles.
Awesome. Well said!
GOOD QUESTION….!
Thanks guys for posting this…..
Holy crap.. they did approve without proof
The outreach for open seats, is VERY suspicious. I have never heard of open seats
Awesome. Thank you for posting this
Thank you for posting
Ive seen them in multiple states, covering thousands of acres ...at night they have red lights on them like cell - radio towers so planes dont hit them so you can imagine hundreds of red blinking lights in an area at night...I think they are an eye sore , I do not think they produce enough power to justify all the land required to install them , same with solar panel farms in the southwest US
It's what you can't hear that hurts you. The infra sound put out by the blades can adversley affect the human nervous system, cause structures to resonate and cause anxiety, insomnia, in severe cases blood vessels, capillaries and internal organs can be damaged. ntp.niehs.nih.gov/ntp/htdocs/chem_background/exsumpdf/infrasound_508.pdf#:~:text=Most%20studies%20reported%20some%20effects%20attributed%20to%20infrasound,to%20infrasound%20at%20levels%20generally%20above%20110%20dB.
