Love the honesty
Wait so does the multiplier for rooms only apply once? Or do I still get the modifiers from each room type. ex. if I had a reactor room, a bridge a cargo room and luxury quarters that would give a 1.6 + 1.5 + 2 + 1.2 would that mean I'm getting a room modifier of 6.3 or would I only get highest room modifier being the 2 from the luxury room.
Only the highest. That's why basically the minmax way to do it is to have your bedroom stuff in a "luxury bedroom" and everything else in a reactor room, since they have the highest multipliers. Kind of a bummer honestly. With that said the biggest boost you get from flipping a ship is a 3x price hike simply for adding an O2 can, pump and O2 sensor if it doesn't already have one.
@@YourAJ1776 I'll just pretend I need to have more rooms and extra parts that don't actually give more profit, that way Im not going full meta, but I can still make a good chunk of change.
If we are recommending random things to each other then i will recommend the game starsector.
Starsector is dope AF!!! As soon as the next update drops, I'm going to binge it.
Oh I actually like the idea of a controlled meat plant considering the weapon can't be repaired and combat weaponry isn't as important so long as you got a gun. Does it spawn meat as an item or meat to fight that can proliferate on its own/can't proliferate on its own? One of the lore entries mentions that meat is especially good at growing with CO2 present. Did anyone try this meat planter in a pressurized room with pure CO2?Or an atmosphere mix with more CO2 than normal? Sounds like it would be much more effective there and a good way to recycle CO2 from your crew.
Do crew kills count to zealot or only the focused character?
@@1Glotzer1 Good question. You can use the console codes in the video to test and find out. Sorry I left that quest way back in the rear view.
Dude HBO's Rome was the gangsterist, so was John Adams.
I found a deitie If -1 crew wear a eva suit -1 crew wear a preasure suit Both work near each other(1 tiles) Crew in pressure suit DETOX his CO2 producted with co2 filtrer of eva suit and it remain at ZERO
LOL that's wild
You suck. I'm just kidding solid vid
Good info, wasn't sure which direction to take, but this seems to be the first rung on the ladder. I seriously want an apartment with my own dock!
Thanks for the insight. I am kinda curious can you tow while engaging the torchdrive?
I believe so, but the use cases are pretty rare. I'm 99% sure I did this to keep my ship and a derelict from crashing into Venus.
A.S.S. Astroglide huh... Yea definitely no innuendo there. I bet it runs real slick.
Clear and concise!
I was thinking of purchasing this game. How game breaking is the bug if I plan to invest my time playing it? Is it ok to just play it and ignore the price bug? I heard other streamers have issues losing or corrupted saves. Also I agree about mission requiring to raid and kill police. I mean if we are going to be criminals, the rewards should be logical in relation to the risk/brutality. Violence should not be the motivation, it is the means motivated by greed or need.
Not game-breaking in the least! The "game" from EA launch up to now has been 99% salvaging ships in the vicinity of OKLG. As long as you can keep doing that without getting bored, you'll be fine. I've done that for like 500 hours total since EA launch. The problem is when you start expecting the game to be more than it is. It's going to be a trading simulation eventually but that was only recently introduced and it obviously hasn't been balanced at all.
@YourAJ1776 are there going to be stuff like exploration, mining or spaceship combat planned in future development? I'd really like to try playing this game but the months between the end and start of every year is a busy time for me. All the free time I have is either to watch let's play video or sleep. Getting older when I'm exhausted I often get headaches.😅
I think they just approach it in a paradoxical metaphysical eldritch horror. Which give the player a sensation, you know it’s there, but is it really there?
Guy is shit at trading and blames the game for it... Spending a lot of time at something doesn't automatically make you good at it champ...
It's a bug, you retard. If you trade enough the price goes to zero and then negative. Some of us know how numbers work. Pathetic attempt at trolling. You'd know this if you had actually played the game.
damn that sucks man this game is so good in its basics but it needs more meat
I like that the moderate route is harder to do. Kinda like the secret ending for some games. Add an extra layer of depth for players imo
If i understood -buy derelict ship -fix and restore it -sell it Right?
Yep. There are a bunch of annoying sub-tasks but that's it. The main thing people seem to struggle with is to remember to install an o2 can, pump and o2 sensor. That alone triples the end price.
Hey Brother - good video, and good on you for starting your TH-cam journey. I truly appreciate how you gave a 1-to-N step by step guide and actually put it on the screen for the viewer. I just feel like you tried to cover every possible variable the player may encounter. You asked for feedback so I have a couple of ideas for you. First - for video titles that grab attention, study Beluga’s method for how he names Shorts - recommended viewing: "How Beluga Gained 4 Million Subscribers in 3 Months (Genius Strategy)". There are some fun things you could have done with the title of this video. Second - for me a 12 minute video feels a little long, I think you could have done this in about 5-6 minutes by staying on topic and removing extraneous tidbits of knowledge, those tidbits should be turned into other videos. I recommend you think about the best length for your future videos and try to stick as closely as possible to the desired length - basically you need to balance average view time versus if you are going to include ads (and how many) - then match your content and pacing to the desired length - recommended viewing: "THIS Is the PERFECT Length for TH-cam Videos". I hope this helps, don’t give up, keep going!
Awesome advice! Thanks a lot! I'll add them to my watch laters. And Merry Christmas!!! <3
Thanks for this! I gave it a try at one point and ended up down about 100k. Guess I just got unlucky, since as far as I could tell I'd done everything I should have. I do like the brief format though, thanks!
@@IanEdmonds Ooooof! What did you do to improve the rig and what was the original price? Margins are tighter for smaller ships but I've never LOST money flipping 💀
@YourAJ1776 don't remember specifically, but I think purchase price was about 400k for a small 0 room ship (about the size of the starter ship). Added a nav console, bedroom, air, and thrust and got about 250k
@@IanEdmonds Did you make the bedroom big enough to count as one? Make sure to add storage bin? If you didn't see "Basic Quarters" or "Luxury Quarters" on the sell screen then it didn't count. Also you might have gotten a better price for a "closed bridge" etc. Here's the link for reference: ostranauts.wiki.gg/wiki/Rooms Also unfortunately thrusters count zero for price right now. It's total BS and I hate it. Was there valuable stuff on that ship which you took off before you purchased it? That could explain it too. Ship price is based on what's on there originally, not what's on it when you purchase. It's very possible that there's a bug in the calculation formula which screwed you in this instance. Generally... like I said, I wouldn't purchase a ship for half a mil if it was that small. Tiny ships should sell for 200kish.
@@YourAJ1776 It did count as a bedroom, had a bin, was classed as "Basic Quarters". We did also have a closed bridge (yeah, I've got that guide printed out). There wasn't much of value on it when we got it, and everything that was there got taken off. I think it was likely just too high an initial price and with not enough experience we didn't "win" on this one. Will try again, and also review this one since I don't think I actually hit "sell", just checked to see what the price was.
@@IanEdmonds Honestly I'm leaning towards "bug". If the thing didn't have an 02 can and you installed one... and it didn't triple the price... then something somewhere in the algorithm f***ed up. OR another possibility is that the ship USED to be high-value but got hit by an NPC ship in transit and took a ton of damage.
Ver14 is WAY less buggy... Well... Somewhat less.
I find 16x speed tends to bug out my game and saves a lot too.. take care when you use it! I usually stick to using it when alone and away from npcs.
LOL yep! This is one of the things I say in my "how to avoid ragequit" video about ways to avoid bugs... I don't take my own advice haha.
I'm your AJ, I am disappointed in the Internet not one comment asking if you have a only fans. That said helpful video thank you.
How come you see the (approximate) price of items? I can only see 1 to 4 $ signs. Did you level anything in particular for that?
I'm on the Public Test branch of the game. I've been expecting that this feature will be rolled out to the general EA release, but it's not clear that's going to happen. If not, I'll be very disappointed because it is extremely helpful.
Thank you for the quick response and the info. So I guess I'll hope and wait. I would love to see it in the actual game. Maybe even as something you'd have to learn or get good in. 1st day you have no clue if an item is $1 or $1000 and after lots of salvaged derelicts and trades you'd be spot on... Loved your 'How to flip a ship' btw.
@@thomast5659 during the 'seek advanture' part of creating your resume, one of the evens can give you a skill names 'Business Admin' (as of version 0.14). This changes the $ rough estimate to an actual dollar amount.
Awesome video thank you!
Do you know there's a different vision modes that you cycle through by pressing F8? I use it to survey the derelict ship I docked with without moving inside it. You can see everything - all installed devices, presence of meat etc. Very convinient
@@SerAlex-k3m Yep! Just figured this out on a recent stream. Haven't quite worked it into my routine yet but it's a very cool addition. In the old days we had to literally mouse over every single tile to see whether there were holes in the hull lol.
OMG! I never knew about the tow hook thing! Thank you SOOO much for this quick guide. I'm going to watch all your in-depth videos now! You've definitely earned a SUB, young man!
Thanks for the sub, Sarge! Next time you're in DC, the first round's on me.
Thanks, I found one but wasn't sure how to use it, only that I really really wanted too 😂
Doors can't be hauled in a dolly but can in cargo bay. The one that is 3×2 tiles size and 3×9 inventory. You drag it along just like a dolly or other stuff.
This sounds right and it's good to know! I wouldn't drag it around myself as my storage solution just because it feels too cheesy, but I'll keep it in mind for sure.
@YourAJ1776 oh, I meant 3×6 inventory ofcourse, not 3×9 %) And yeah, it's awkward to drag freaking container around causing hellish screeching noise, when you have good cargo tray on wheels with handles just for that :D
had to make it a nice even 100 ;)
HOLY SMOKES I DIDN'T REALIZE I HIT 100 SUBS LAST NIGHT WOOOOOOO Thanks! Last night's stream sucked furiously and it was really cool to wake up to this.
what about hijacking pirate ships?
Does not appear to be a thing. Attempting to do so counts as stolen. The best you can do is strip it down to the studs and sell all the gear.
Got randomly recommended this by TH-cam when i had no idea this game existed. Thanks for bejng my intro to this game
Glad I was! Just be warned that it's very EA and there's basically nothing in the game that's stable. If you can get past the fact that there's a brick wall of bugs that you will inevitably run into on any playthrough which will prompt a restart from scratch, you're gonna have a good time!
@YourAJ1776 yeah I'm gonna keep it on my radar, already hooked on the soundtrack as well
It is when EVA Suit ops reaches 100% CTD around 36 mins in
HOLY S*** good catch!!!
Very helpful! Might have to try my hand at flipping ships!
Use the money to fund a vacation to Venus 😂
Hi Fellow The Wire enjoyer :P
Thank you for fixing the Playlist. I've been enjoying your playthrew. Unlike most people you actually know how to play the game
Thanks! I haven't really been looking at other streamers, but I guess I have home field advantage streaming a game I've been playing since EA launch. It's been a very pleasant surprise to me how much new interest there's been in the game. The devs say the additional revenue will fund more time on polish and bugfixing before launch.
@YourAJ1776 thats good. Hopefully they fix the save files being curropted when you do trait changes, like running on the treadmill and doing leisure activities. Hope all is well with ya.
Solid video and great tips. I really enjoyed this one and may actually give it a try once. I really do like the idea of running like a giant mobile renovation barge, big cargo holds with piles of spare parts, especially with a couple crewmates to speed up the process with extra hands for installation/repairs. Can you increase the value of a ship by expanding or is it more about taking the stock design and restoring it? Also on a Sidenote regarding the videos, have you considered doing mod reviews? Even if you play strictly vanilla, doing a mod highlight video here and there would not only be good easy additional content but also I’m sure there’s many players out there that would appreciate seeing the mods in action to help them decide if they want to add it or not (especially if it requires a new save to implement or remove). Just an idea to possibly add more content to your growing library.
Thanks! Great suggestion about mod reviews! I'll give it some thought, especially as I hit the limit of what's available in-game. I'm kinda planning to do a new character creation tutorial using one of the mods that lets you choose exactly which adventures you have. It'll make it a lot easier on me. As to your question: increasing the size will moderately increase the value - I believe by the value of the floor tiles times a multiplier. If you REALLY want to maximize value, you'll want to install as much expensive equipment as possible on floor spaces (NOT inside walls - thrusters and coolers have ZERO VALUE). There may be a limit to the number counted of a particular piece of equipment. Then you'll want to maximize the room multipliers - the current ideal ship layout is one big one luxury quarters with all your expensive exercise equipment etc. and one big reactor room with everything else. The current meta is kind of cringe and I hope they change it TBH.
You need to drag Kang by hand. Not in dolly not at ship. Quest worked for me
Nope. Tried that too. Timestamp 3:50:11 Didn't work. Quest is just bugged. Probably a time limit I exceed. If I remember correctly the option to attempt to turn the quest in should still be there even if you aren't carrying any.
Could you reverse the playlist please?
@@entusiast2000 I have no idea how that works but I'll try 😅
I think I did it. Let me know if that worked.
@@YourAJ1776 Looks great now. From #1 and growing. Thanks!
Great video. Your editing and narrating technique is excellent for a newcomer. I think this video is very useful for players and hope @pr1vatelime manages to see it for his playthrough. He's _almost_ at the point of being ready to flip ships.
The trash and cloth was probably from one of your EVA suits degrading and getting destroyed, the game put a note in the console at 24:10. They really need to add important events like to their updated alert system whenever it releases.
Subbed for this, and then bought the game
Thanks!! Be warned: It's a combination of extremely addictive and also very unstable. It's one of my favorite games and I've been playing literally since launch... but it's a game I play every 6-12 months for a few weeks until I ragequit. Each time I've dropped at least a dozen bug reports. If you can accept it for what it is, it's amazing. For a more stable experience in the same universe, I highly recommend Neo Scavenger - Sseth made a hilarious video review for it. Make sure to install Neo Scavenger Extended mod by Chico which makes it infinitely more playable.
@@YourAJ1776I’ve played neo scavenger for years but this seems up my alley, can’t believe I’m just discovering my it Only played about 1 hour before I had to prepare for work but the vibes are immaculate
@@yanniz_the_iron I made a video about character creation that may be useful. I think the audio may have sucked. Might do a new vid like this one since people seem to appreciate it so much.
Dude I love the strait forward style. Volum mixing is prety on point! And the information is tealy strait and to the point!
Pulls into spaceport "so that guy is dead with indications your occult looking club caved in his chest and you took items from his ship. You a pirate?"
@@MorteWulfe Anyone not running a transponder doesn't have human rights 😉
2nd time hearing about this game first time seeing gameplay, very interesting style of game.
Good job fighting them off.
This is a great guide, man. I am really looking forward to the next one.
It was fun to hang out and play Ostranauts with you! We'll have to do it again sometime.
Flipping ships is a only real way to make money sadly... When you realize that base 4C Intermodal Coffin (very same that you can start on) with just full repair and addition of 2 floor tiles (on outside) for cans 2 pumps and 2 cans (o2 and n2) will give you 430k for selling - game will never be the same. And on a start of the game you can buy (if you lucky) said containers (as container or as coffin) for 30-60k and have a decent chance that they will be in "relatively good" condition. My personal record was to buy 4C Intermodal Container for 15k that were missing 1 wall, 1 floor and having 3 damaged walls. And i sold it for 440k or something like that.
Yep! I bought a mostly-intact Myna Mk1 nuclear courier for $800k as my 2nd-stage main ship... It's worth over $2m now. As I discovered in tonight's streams with Cirne, the pricing equation has TOTALLY changed from before. Now the only factors in the price are the cost and condition of the equipment times the room multiplier. It's super frustrating. This means that any equipment not "in" a room - including thrusters, coolers, walls, conduits etc doesn't count. The most optimal setup now is almost always 1 reactor room, 1 towing room and 1 luxury quarters.
Umm. If i understood -buy derelict ship -fix and restore -sell it Right?
@@AntonioCerullo-e6d yep. Start with small ones, especially if you dont have EVA. Also "pro-tip" you can install stuff 1 tile behind the wall, you just have to stay right infront the wall to your character do it.
@@helldvan it s a good usage of option for buy derelict
Nice job!
Hooray, thanks for the video, and for the shout-out! ♥
