Hi - I am a mechanical engineer just uploading to youtube if I think others might get inspired - and for the fun :)
DeskTop CNC 3018 - Z upgrade + SATC setup
In this video I will show how I upgraded the Z-axis on my little Cheap Desktop CNC 3018. And in the same time I made some other small upgrades, so the use of the CNC would be more easy. Especially when it comes to tool change. I call it Semi-Automated Tool change (SATC).
Also short presentation of g-code sender Candle, latest version.

Simple RouterTableFence
In this episode I will create a simple router fence - with the primary aim of collection dust and chips created from the bit working. Mostly just need this for handling edges on different wood projects. If larger projects I will probably use the router handheld.
Simple Router lift hack for Router Table
In this video I will show how to hack an old router with a simple lifting system. May not be the most precise work, but kind of "Proof of concept". I have seen a lot of fantastic router jigs created in different ways and in different materials on TH-cam (and thanks for that :). But why bother build a jig or system, if you have an old router laying around anyway - which can be modified as needed...
Bandsaw circle JIG
I want to try make another kind of circle jig to my little band saw - I have seen some similar jig for band saws like the one I have, but still I think it can be done as shown in the video. The band saw is mounted with a 6 mm - 6TPI - and 1826 mm long blade.
Table saw - Finger joint jig with Stepper motor
How to mix stepper motor and table saw for cutting finger joints. The video shows the process from the first idea to finished working tool jig. Table Saw is a Holzmann TS250.
JET wet grinder, JSSG-10, sharpner
Replacement of my Tormek T-4 wet grinder / sharpner. A small review of JET wet grinder - model JSSG-10. It turns out the universal support from Tormek fits fine into the JET. And all Tormek jigs can be used as well. The JET wet grinder do have some small issues, but the quality is quit good.
Woodland Mill HM126e (2018), Modified with Adjustable Blade Guide
This video is about mounting an adjustable blade guide on a Woodland Mill HM126e from 2018. The blade guide is only attended for the 2020 Jubi. Models - but it can be done on the "older" models as well..
Thanks very much for posting this. I really like the setup you have here with the combined tool length probe and fixed XY position for stock on the bed.
Thanks Don :) - I always try to keep it simple. The setup with the end-shaft for probe electrical circuit is changed - didn't work properly, though... I will change to a tool-setter somehow next time I will optimize the design :)
How did you get the springs out? Does having the springs out make the router plunge further? Or come through the table further than with the spring in?
Initially I took out the spring in the router - It doesn't affect the plunge, since the plunge it controlled by the plunge dept wheel. Only advantage is it moves more freely. When I converted the router to a fixed table-router I mounted the spring again, since I needed the spring load to get more precise adjustment of the bit height.
Tak!
:)
cool build one change that you could do is to change the "adjusting nut" to an Allen socket bolt (you can get "coupling nuts" to join the all thread and bolt ) also change the center plate bolts to the same Allen size to be able to use the same tool for simplicity again nice job !! have Fun from Oklahoma
Hi "Oklahoma" :) - thanks for your nice words ... I originally planed to use Allen sockets bolts - but it was a Sunday afternoon build, and the local "bolt pusher" had closed .. I did promise myself to change to Allen - but since it kind of worked well anyway I decided to keep it for now.
that's the way it works sometimes!! as a retired farmer i have an old card file cabinet full of bolts and such course we are 45 min away from any major store :)@@thimtools7538
Nice solution very clearly described in very nice English! Definitely better than my Danish! Well done. I wish you a lot of fun with your future projects! All the best, Rob in Switzerland
Hi Rob - thanks for your nice words :) - I have already used the router setup for many small projects, and it works just fine :) - I actually use my channel here to try improve my English - so really thankful for your feedback... and guess what: My Swiss German or France is probably as good as your Danish ;-)
The electric model sounds like it runs way slower than the gas model does
That might be correct - I haven't measured the RPMs on the Mill .. but I will do and let you know :)
Thanks its given me some good ideas 😊
Always great when someone can use my ideas to work from... thanks 🙂
Really good job! And very similar to my router, so I can pretty much copy you… Thanks 👍
Thank you for your feedback :) Glad you can use the idea for you own project ... and my the router mod still works really fine for the small projects I am running.
🤮🤮🤮🤢
👌😊
I made a similar router table for a similar router too but on the electrical side rather than adding a separate starter switch, I changed the wiring for the table saw to add a socket to plug the router into the table saw and added a switch to change over between powering the saw or the router and used the same press switch/emergency stop
Sounds like a good idea, too - I anyway had the extra electrical switch in my workshop - so it was fast and simple to install :)
Very nice design. You could also print an insert without a hole to prevent sawdust from falling on the router while using the table saw
Thanks - and thank you for your suggestion :) .. and you are right - a good idea 👍
👍👍👍.Thank you
Thank you for the comment :)
Others have probably suggested using a small cordless drill to lift the router. But maybe not. I think I would try it to replace the ratchet. Thumbs up.
Thanks for feedback :) - and yes a cordless drill to lift would be faster .. maybe I will try find a 10,8V for the purpose ...
Hej Thim 😊. Wow.
Great video.
Thanks :)
The best lift I've seen so far.
Thanks - why do it hard - when you can do it simple :)
clearly havent seen many then
Interesting idea.Well done
Thanks :)
cool idea. thank you.
Thanks :)
What a crap video. Very unhelpful.
My JSSG-10 stopped running and a local shop want $335 to diagnose why it stopped running
Hi William - sorry to hear your Jet grinder has stopped working. My Jet grinder is still working perfect. $335 sounds a lot - only for diagnose ? Have you tried another rep. shop ?
Good attention to the details
Thanks, Mike :)
Did you find this modification actually produced better lumber than without the adjustable guide arm ? I have a mill like yours and I do cut mostly smaller logs. Average 12 inch diameter. Thank you
Hi Bgj - it's a little hard to say - it depends on the quality of the blade itself. I didn't bought blades from WoodLand, and they are maybe not the best. For these blades I use now, I will say the cut is better with the blade guide on the saw. Also the tension on the blade is a parameter for a fine cut. Where I see the benefit is when you cut hard wood with a lot of branches - here the more narrow blade guide alignment insures the blade is not "wobling" every time it passes a "branch". Hope you understand what I mean.
@@thimtools7538 thank you for your. Help.
Amazind job, Thim (: Works like a charm!
Thanks, Erico :) - yes, the final version works really fine.
I have this model and I like it
Yes - it works fine - and only thing I want to change, is the grinder wheel - I will properly change it to a Diamond wheel K400 later.
Which one did you order the one for the 2020 or newer 126..? Thanks
Hi Billy - sorry for late reply - I don't come often on my youtube canal. I ordered the kit for 2020 jub. model.. HM126.
Excellent review. I'm curious when you bought this? The JSSG-10 I believe is the older model number for the newer JWS-10 that is on the Jet Tools website now as of December 2020. I looked on the Jet website at the beginning of 2020 and they did not at the time carry the JSSG-10 or any wet grinder. I think the JSSG-10 went out of production for a few years at least. I have the JSSG-10 from about 2004 I think, and it has been a good machine. I'm at the point now where I need to replace the motor brushes having only used it a handful or more times each year on chisels and block plane blades, and my kitchen knives. Jet has the brushes on the Jet Parts website which is a good thing. I think the wheel is comparable quality to the Tormek stock wheel. You should put "sharpener" in your title for more hits.
Hi Pool Pro - thank you for your comment :). I bought the JSSG-10 on a sale here in DK - and your are right, it's an older model, but still doing sharpening fine. My experience when compare a Tormek and Jet grinder wheel - is the Jet wheel is a little more "loose" in it's compound. It's easier to get a groove on the wheel surface. But I plan to get a Tormek diamond wheel (grit 600) as replacement, anyway. And thank you for your tip - I will put sharpner into the title.
