    I needed this. I was both a champion surfer, and the proudest City Bus Driver. Until i got upset over a decision and quit my sport i loved,.. it bothered me so badly .. i brought it to my job,.. and quit my job too.. i retired. Immediately i realized how foolish i was.! It hit me. I couldn't believe what I had done to myself. The Stress trying to get my job back, lasted 1 month. I stressed so badly, i got insomnia and couldn't sleep at all. Then the anxiety! I lost it. I couldn't return, my mental health was terrible, as i fell into severe depression. I lost interests in all activities, and unable to feel pleasure or happiness, gratitude or appreciation. My healthy body is no more. I still can't sleep, and i lay in bed all day. I lost interest in living. My identity., purpose is gone. The Stress has taken my eyesight away!!, everything is blurry, and i can't make appointments, because i won't go anywhere. Its like im dying and don't care. I hate being like this..... i don't see anyway 😢😫☠️⛓️

    I did this and suddenly started crying intensely and like got panicked and was almost screaming but nothing was coming out and breathing rapid but eventually calmed down. Is that normal? Like it was a massive energy release?

      it can release some heavy stuff and its risky to do it at home. i do it after practising with therapist and responding quite well. I would advise to do it slowly and with breaks for the breath, also not too long. but in your case i would do it with supervision.

    Interesting. I am doing EMDR and it decidedly is NOT effective for "soothing" (for me, anyway).

  • @macallen2009
    @macallen2009 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    EMDR can be very helpful and powerful, and with all due respect to Ms. Garvey, this is not really EMDR. EMDR follows a protocol in which the patient is helped to develop a frame of mind in which they are holding both the distressing thought as well as being aware of the bodily sensations simultaneously as they are bilaterally stimulated. Most importantly, a trained therapist is there to guide them and help them overcome any blocks / resistances that emerge and to assist them if they have an abreaction. (I'm oversimplifying it.) What is being demonstrated is mostly the bilateral stimulation part.

    • @nata1547
      @nata1547 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      yes, but bilateral stimulation in itself, esp. in slow pace, can be soothing.

    I believe that for small traumas (memories of offenses or insults etc ..) it can also be done alone but for serious traumas (violence, earthquakes etc) then you have to do it with a therapist.
