Thank you Sun King, this is fascinating to observe! The footage is from Hamburg on June 26th '66 - due to language problems, foreign accents speaking English, ridiculous questions (at one point John shouts "Any journalists here???" or similar) and just the sheer boredom of it all...the band had clearly outgrown this kind of format, and are well-aware they have much more of this to come until the end of August...it would tire anyone out.

This was the last stretch of Beatlemania. Too much fame can be tiring too. But I loved how open they can smoke in public in this press conferences one after another in those days.

1966? All the males in this video are coat-and-tie (or very close to it) and neatly-coiffed. Now look at the covers of the two 1966 albums. That's a disconnect that is hard to believe. I think this concert is more like 1964, maybe '65.

Just about anything the Beatles did was fantastic. But their version of Shout is very tame. Contrast with Johnny O'Keefe's performance of Shout - made you hair stand up and very much better.

I saw a Carpenters concert in Japan here on TH-cam. I don't see how English-speaking groups can draw crowds like this in countries where people don't speak English.
