    Hello. Are classical musicians improvise vertically? I mean do they just improvise the chord playing and not scale?

    Do I use natural minor key or harmonic?

    • @thepracticeofharmony3956
      @thepracticeofharmony3956 ปีที่แล้ว

      Harmonic minor. Notice that Chord V, the dominant, is Major. For example in the key of D minor, the dominant is A major, which has a C# as the third of the chord. This C# is also the raised 7th degree of D harmonic minor. If we use D natural minor then we would have a natural C as the 7th degree which wouldn't give us a leading tone.

    Hi. Great content! This is exactly what I was looking for. Straightforward exercises for "standard" western harmonization with just the basics of theory. Most other tutorials are for complex jazzy stuff or harmony developement by theoretical approach. I just wanted exercises to make that "mind-key" connection for improvisation. Keep them coming!

    • @thepracticeofharmony3956
      @thepracticeofharmony3956 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Osakki! Yes, these exercises will be exclusively on "Classical" harmony, composition, improvisation, etc at the keyboard. Minimum theory, Maximum practice. We learn by doing!
