How to Crochet a Ribbed Border Easy Single Crochet Ribbed Border
#crochet #crochetforbeginners #crochettutorial
Hi crochet friends!
In this video I'll show you how to make an easy and beautiful border. This blanket border is super simple, all you need to know is how to make a single crochet, placed in the back loop. I put this border on my Cluster Stitch Baby Blanket. The original blanket had a single crochet and double crochet mixed border. Honestly, I think I like this one better!
This ribbed border can be used for all kinds of things! You can add a border to your sweaters, hats, scarves, you name it! Learning to make a crochet ribbing is a foundational skill that will be a game changer for your crochet projects!

How to Make a Classic Granny Square Throw for BEGINNERS! Step by step Crochet with Me!

We had granny square afghans and granny square ponchos, you name it! Still, I was never a fan. I finally caved and made my first granny square a few weeks ago, during hurricane Helene. My power was out and I was bored. I had a HUGE stash of yarn...

This is so helpful thank you. I’ve been struggling with the same border for a baby blanket. Your instructions are clear and precise. Again thank you 😊 💓🧶
@@dpenikas2520 You are so very welcome ❤️
That's lovely! I love the rounded corners! I will try this. Hello from Germany!
@@steffimoreau6787 H Wow! Germany! Hello! Thank you so much! 🥰
Im cracking up at the sound of your dog tap dancing in the background 🤣 ❤❤❤
hello! I used this method just last night and now I don't know how to close it...? like how do I end the circle to continue to the next (different) pattern😭?
Just make a slip stitch into the next stitch. Cut the yarn, then pull it through. ☺
What size needle are you using for the double scrubby’s?
Size I, 5.5mm
How much softee baby yarn did you end up using for the baby blanket?
@@stasya6154 I bought five skeins. I also made a baby hat and still had some left over.
@maggiemaycrochet thank you so much! I'm going to be following your tutorial for my brother's baby and I cannot wait to gift it!!
@@stasya6154 I know they'll love it! It's incredibly soft. I'm making another one with a ribbed border. I'll post the border video probably next week <3
@maggiemaycrochet AHH I CANT WAIT!! Enjoy your stitching! :)
@@stasya6154 You too!
I'm going to try making one for on my swiffer. Think I'll attach it with a button on one as ide and a loop on the other. May try 4 buttons and 4 loops. Will probably need to do some trial and error to get it right. Should be good for mopping.
Oooh! I love this idea!! Let me know how it works!
Just starting to learn ‘how to’ crochet a couple of granny squares & have no idea how to join or what else I can do with these, other than a blanket (baby, starting small 😂). Thanks so much for the tutorial, very easy, clear & informative (after watching a few others tt hv some confusing instructions). This gives me the confidence to continue doing all my squares, join them up simply & give it away before Christmas 🤞❤ Subscribed!
@@acooi1 Yay! This makes me so happy! 🥰
Beautiful work
Thank you so much! 🥰
Do i just keep using the back loops on each new round or does it go back to using both loops after round 7 I no understand
You crochet in the back loops through the whole thing :)
@maggiemaycrochet Okey dokey, thank you so much
How much yarn and what is the yarn weight for a M size had using a single strand?
I imagine it's half of what is used using the two strands as in the video.
You answered my question for the "curling" issue, as I used the 1-1-2 increase pattern and had to start all over from my 3rd row
@@atlluvdemhoops1534 happy it helped! 😊
Thank you! Understanding how to work out that increase stitch is turning out to be a game changer! Yes my pattern says it’s beginner friendly but it wasn’t feeling that way! At all! 😅
@@MoneyMonroe91 happy it helped! 🥰
How well does it Wash up? I was thinking about giving it to a grandchild.
@@robbindohm3767 honestly, I haven't washed it yet. I think it depends on the yarn you use. Just check the label. The pony bead label says not for kids under 3 due to choking hazard so you won't want to give it to little ones 🥰
Thank you 😊
I had decided that if I am doing a pair of socks, from now on, I will be doing both at the same time, each with a new roll of yarn, so I will make the same mistake on both! 😂
@@olindaboulding7136 😂 sounds like a good plan!
I love the bucket hat yarn! Beautiful color. Would you mind sharing which it is and where I can buy some? All your creations are beautiful. I also crocheted during the hurricane. Such a great way to pass the time smile😊
Thank you! I used Lily Sugar 'n Cream 100% cotton yarn in the color Hippie. It's one of my favorites! Here's an Amazon link: amzn.to/3AalYLJ I can usually find it at Joann's too 😀

Wouldn’t that scratch the paint on a vehicle?
I use it for the tires, rims, and any metal. I have used it on pain without any problems but I guess it depends on your vehicle, how hard you scrub and if there's any sand on the sponge.
Hello, I'm trying to understand increased rounds. When either using single, double, or half double crochet. Do you have a chart of regular size heads S,M,and Large? When making hats randomly. I'm confused about where the increase counts goes. I'm hoping you understand my questions. If I'm not following a pattern . I confused crocheting a regular brim. Thanks 😊
You can Google hat size charts to get regular sizes. To make an increase, you're just putting two stitches into one space. Any pattern you follow will tell you where to put the increase. Hope that helps :)
Wow! Just found you. Gorgeous!!!
@@kathylovely1035 thank you so much! 🥰
I used a safety pin as my stitch marker, is that okay?
Absolutely! They work great! 😃
@@maggiemaycrochet okay thanks
Thank you so much! I’ve watched the beginning of dozens of videos for this stitch and your video is the only one that shows where to work the stitch in the second and beyond row!! I really appreciate your attention to this particular detail.

Hello, When crocheting bucket hats. What if you're making different size hats. Why not use the adult circumference chart sizes for S,M, and large?
@@murielfields7445 you could. This is how you can customize to ensure the right size for the recipient. Not everyone knows their hat size
How many chains for to do a tea towel
You can make it any size you like! Find a tea towel and measure it. Then, create a chain the same size! Just remember to make it an even number :)
Hello those are very nice what would you sell them for
@@barbarafrye8049 I honestly don't know. I've never sold any of my projects. I just crochet for relaxation and as gifts for family and friends 😊
Idk why but mine is kinda turning into a bubble. It’s not staying flat and I’m only on round 2. Is there something I’m doing wrong?
Make sure you're counting your stitches correctly. You should increase stitches with each round, that is what keeps your circle flat.
Looks really cool and useful 👍
I'm wondering could you help me with a size 16 thanks
Size 16?! Wow! I've never made any that big before. Have you Googled crochet slipper sizes? There are charts that tell you how to convert a size 16 into inches. If you aren't making them as a surprise, you can always measure the person's foot and crochet until they proper length.
I just made this and even though it wasn't perfect (it still holds a can), I am still very proud of myself for my first time crocheting. Thank you for this simple tutorial and I will definitely keep practicing and making more!
That's awesome! Congrats on your first project! It gets addicting :)
THE YARN ISNT YARNING
Omg so helpful!! The only tutorial that tought me !!! Love the channel x
Thank you! That means so much! 🥰
This is a nice pattern. Thank you for sharing this tutorial with us. Do you know how to size it for shoe size 10? I'm still fairly new to crocheting so I'm not sure how to do sizing on slippers yet. Thank you so much
I used a conversion chart that I Googled to find out how long to make the slippers. The charts will tell you approximately how long each size is in inches. Hope this helps! 😀
What will be the multiple for the stitches please
You can make your chain as long as you like, as long as it's an even number. It's a two-row repeat :)
How did you do the zig zag border on the single layer purple scrubbie?
It's actually two layers, just both are purple 😊
I'm gonna start crocheting soon and I want this to be my very first project!!! Just a quick question, how many koozies can you make with one ball of Sugar N Cream yarn? I too will be using this brand because it just looks so pretty.
You'll get two for sure. If you have a kitchen scale you can weigh your finished koozie. Then, divide that number into the total weight of your yarn. That should tell you how many you can make 😊
@@maggiemaycrochet I will remember that for future reference! Thank you 😊
OMG English thank you!!!!!! I subd.
Thank YOU! 🥰
What kind of yarn is that?
It's Lily's Sugar and Cream, 100% cotton.
Totally using this for a fathers day gift, since my dad uses OliPops every day
Yay! Hope your dad enjoys his Father's Day and his gift from you!!
Thanks for the tutorial. I like the two different sides. Just wondering, why are you hiding the magic circle yarn ends when you can just do a knot and they will end up in middle after the two sides are crocheted together?
Just habit. I like hiding my ends so they don't work their way through the outside as easily.
