Legal Walls Graffiti - ROCHESTER NY 2016
มุมมอง 1.1K8 ปีที่แล้ว
the "legal walls" in Rochester NY right near the Village Gate. People have been coming here for years to show off their art legally. This also used to be somewhat of a skating area. Some skateboarders had build some concrete ramps and quarter pipes though those are all gone now.

How about one for Park Ave and East Ave.
This place is now 2 drainage ponds. Fun fact. The land was donated to hacamo from nalgene the plant right next to it back in the 50's
Why is nobody commenting?
Flat one horse city no tall Bldgs
My sister was a lunch lady there for a summer while I babysat my niece. She let me and my niece (her daughter) visit her and hang out with her for a few hours a day or so a week. It was a nice place. This was when I was 16 so back in 2002 or 2003. Then after it shut down me and a few friends were wandering around at night and ended up there because apparently her trailer park and the camp had woods that connected to each other, both in Penfield, I knew where we were but they didn't, place looked super creepy at night, so sad it's gone.
I went to this camp from 1989 till about 1992. Great memories there
0:19 there are eyeglasses on building on right where I got my first glasses from Welply and Paul in 1966. Still there... Damn
I loved it. I drive on it every day and I still loved it.
I went to School Without Walls in the 90's and I remember Monroe Ave and I have many memories of the area around Monroe Square and further down toward Alexander.
I went to this camp with the center for disabilities right before it closed . God I wish they'd bring it back
Ok 6 years later , there are only junkies and drug addicts and violence and drugs on Monroe Ave , the same people who grew up over there , that's who
At 3:38 is the pond the student , Set Him Self on Fire around Halloween .
Gitzis, Country Sweets, all changed. But used to visit there often.

I was born in Rochester in the '60's, moved to Houston 2009 and came back for a short memorial day weekend visit in 2012. Haven't been back since but want to come back for a longer visit soon. I read gas and electric meters from 1999 to 2009. I know just about every street in Monroe county and most of the surrounding counties. I love to watch these videos because I can see if anything changed and where I used to read the meters and the memories of what happened there. Thanks for making these.
This is the worse 6 minutes of my life I'll never get back.....boringgggggg
Yep..lost forever..proving how stupid you are..i just came here to harass you..thanks!
Im a West side gal. From Chili, Gates, and now im in Greece
Hello. How is Grece about criminality? is good? and Rochester?
Great video about time somebody made a decent video of Rochester instead of all this negative things about Rochester I visited there around 12 years ago it was very nice there and the people were so friendly and we drove around I liked it I'm from Queens new York queens is very crowded and very expensive to live there Rochester still has decent apartments with low rents and more peaceful living
There's a huge difference in going to Rochester, and visiting a nice neighborhood and an impoverished one. Which one did you have the pleasure of visiting?
Rochester is also better than several cities in Iraq.
th-cam.com/video/ZUHaLQOkQPg/w-d-xo.html
It gives me the creeps thinking Arthur Shawcross was all over that town eshhh
Nice and so clean
Thank you, very good video . Done , ne sub here + hit the bell. Thanks
that area is probably the only thing I miss about Rochester
There's also Cobb's Hill, Durand Eastman park. It's a bit out of town, but Letchworth is nice too.
I left Rochester in 1965. Milk was 35 cents a Quart. Gas was 35 cents a GAL. In Ohio, Milk was 59 cents PER GALLON. gas was 17 cents. Best move I ever made.
ohio can never live up to Roch NY
I guess your life revolves around the price of gas and milk. Tell me, does drinking milk give you gas?🤢
At 5:34, that Otis Lumber was there in 1930! Then a bit further are N.Y.State Armory, Corpus Christie School and Church. Opposite that is the old Masonic Temple. To the left, on Prince St. is the old U. or R., which became the Ladies U.ofR. Off to the left is a Latino Center, 817E. Main. St., where i used to live 1930-1935! Next bldg., on right is Eastman Dental Dispensary, where, twice a year, you could get teeth cleaned and repaired, for just 5 cents. On the left, just past Alexander St., used to be a car dealer, later operated as a roller rink(1932?). Just up Alexander,to the left, is Rochester's oldest High School. the former east High. I am now 96, but remember that neighborhood well. Just before Alexander, to the left, is Erion Crescent. Was a gas station there which folded and became a Miniature Golf Course. The other corner had the local candy store, when soft drinks ,ice cream, and candy bars were still only five cents, for ages! same bldg, still standing!
Have a Happy 100, J! Cheers from West Henny!
Do that man live at camp haccamo
There's a trailer park up the hill from old camp haccamo, there's atrail thru there that leads to plaza that's where he prolly was coming from. camp is torn down now and being turned I to 55+ age home, strip mall and a hotel
Really enjoying your videos. I'm home sick LOL. I've lived in South Florida for 30 years now but Rochester is my hometown and going on your little trips are bringing back so many memories for me especially of the downtown and Park Avenue and Monroe Avenue areas where I grew up and was almost everyday in the 70s and 80s. Downtown used to be like our New York City and it is so different now. But thanks really enjoying this.
4:36 - the building on the right (Hollywood Video) was the old Village Green bookstore in the 80's, right?
yep, I haven't been to rochester in a few years, but I can't imagine Hollywood video is still there. They should make it a book store again.
Yes, it is. So sad to see it gone. I'll never get over it. I loved that place. I grew up in the neighborhood, I was in that place ALL the time when I was a kid. I did after school stuff at the ymca across the street. Now it's gone :(
@@peterbelanger4094 Someone in my high school had the same name as you. Did you go to Brighton HS by chance?
Good riddance to that place. The carried gay and lesbian porn, but not a Playboy?
Two years later, the immediate downtown area had changed, with new street fixtures. Thank you for capturing the city at a moment of time!!!
7:56 Crossing over the Inner Loop. That had to have been one of the final recorded views of that before it was filled in!
Are you going to make more videos of Rochester
It was really great, like someone mentioned before you should video driving all over Rochester, you should video all seasons as well.
That was really great and it's so nice to see Rochester again since I moved to Florida 10 years ago, miss home.
I agree about missing home. I moved to southwest Virginia in 91' and have lived here since, it is home but Rochester holds a special place in my heart. So many memories. At 7:15 is the Monroe Square, it used to be the Sears building. In 1977 mom bought dad a Sears Ted Williams 500 model Mossberg shotgun, the hunting dept. was in the basement I believe? In 1979 at the age I 12 I got to shoot it, the first big gun I ever shot. As dad is no longer able to shoot it, I shot it last fall and have it in my possession and it still shoots well. Rochester ought to have a slogan "Rochester, My City" with shirts and stuff and try to make Rochester great again, yes I see where it's gone. Have a favorite or good memory James? Please do share.
Would you ever consider moving back? I moved south and honestly hate it. Miss Rochester every day but I’m so frustrated the city I want Rochester to be is not what it is. There’s so much crime, poverty, decline. But also so much potential. The problem is the people who live there don’t believe in their home, yet in all of my travels it’s still one of the greatest places I’ve ever seen.
Wow they shut it down
