How is the RC30 replica coming along? Eagerly awaiting more videos!
gen 4 m8 not 2
did you seperate the carbs and replace all the orings on the connection tubes ?
No. It wasn't necessary.
Great project! Speedo genuine goes to 160 km/h. I have one on my PE250X. Looking for a right side genuine plastic cover.
Good luck.
Sir how did you made your trailjack?
The jack was bought from Colin Bayman at Ride With Me in Perth.
How do you get the exhaust gasket out mine seems to be stuck in there
No longer for sale folks. The thing about opportunities is, they rarely knock twice! I've just picked up some fun, paid work, Spring has sprung, and I quite fancy riding this beast, at least until the market has picked up enough for me to not have to give it away😂
Thanks for confirming the oil filter cover gasket can't be installed in the wrong orientation. It looks like the bolt pattern makes it so it will only allow the bolts to pass through the cover and gasket, if the gasket is in the correct orientation. I was second guessing myself after my first oil change. But it looks like Honda made it idiot proof :)
That's what I'm here for😄
Beautiful clear waters you have there better than uk where I am on the NE coast
Thanks buddy. You'll have spotted from the accent that I'm from Stoke-on-Trent, where the waters are significantly browner.
The water would be even browner if I was onboard that vessel. Give me wind power any day.😊
All that's missing is storage space in the trailer as its all taken up with the tent. That means if you're going camping you'll still need to load the bike up with all the other camping paraphernalia.
I've got a 1m X 1m aluminium platform. Nothing needs to go on the bike. I normally take an inflatable boat and an outboard motor on the trailer, and still have room to spare. I thought I covered it in the video.
Mmmmmm.
They are gorgeous aren't they?😊 I put a tiny scratch in one rim fitting it that now haunts me 😭
looking good
Thanks Leslie 😊
That looked exciting! Thanks.(uk)
I'm not sure that I would call a 12 hour round trip of 1000km 'exciting' but I am excited to get stuck into it. I need to sell another project to fund it though, so other than the wheels (which I see you've watched, thanks), progress will be slower than I'd prefer.
Well thats a first for me. A GS transformed into a Guzzi. But seriously. Is that lambretta going to be ridden or on display?
Definitely for riding. I don't do display bikes.
I am very much looking to future episodes. I still have a D150 that I bought in 1964 and restored when I was eighteen. It won the concours competition at the 1966 International Lambretta rally in Southend in 1966. It is rotting away in a shed at the top of my garden now. Edward
Nooooo! Edward, drag it out buddy! You already have the skills. Keep it as close as possible to how it was when it won in '66. I'd love to see it. Any chance of posting a couple of pics in a message to The Spanner Lab Facebook page 🙏
@@TheSpannerLabI can't do much anymore, I can hardly walk now. My right leg no longer works awfully well although I can still ride. I don't have any photos of it. I have a photo of my British Scooter Sprint championship winning Lambretta outfit If you would like to see it. I don't know how to post it online but I could email to you if you like.
I was offered one of these back in 1964 for the princely sum of £10. I was 16 at the time and still at school. Begged and borrowed but could only scrape together £8 10 shillings and the lad I was wanting to buy it off wanted the £10 so it didn't come my way. Back then this scooter was truly cool. A year later I bought a TV 175 for £80 - how lucky was I. However, if I had bought the first one I would have been very happy.
Cool story. How much did you earn a week back then?
Mine was £20 in 1964 and I bought a series two TV 175 for 25 quid .
My TV 175 was a real beauty. I had a mate that worked in the plating department of amassive engineering company - the only bits not chrome plated were the tyres and the handle bar grips. Sold it for £350 in 1970- last time I had serious money in my pocket.@@edwardwest5035
Not much but I can tell you £1,00 would buy 10 pints of bitter back then.My dad gave me the £80 as i was off to College and needed transport.@@TheSpannerLab
I still marvel at the engineering excellence of these scooters - we were very fortunate I think.@@edwardwest5035
looking forward to seeing this one restored.
Me too Woody! If you want to see progress between videos, hop over to The Spanner Lab Facebook page.
Nice pe400 I’m building a 1981 rm250x I’ live in Albany also , how much were you asking if you were to sell the pe?
Hi Ken. Now isn't a good time to sell. The market is on its knees. Pop me a message on The Spanner Lab's Facebook page and we can discuss.
Did you do anything with the stock turn signals? Mine were hitting the tank so I had to take them off.
I didn't and yes, mine also hit the tank. I rarely used the bike aggressively and sold it shortly after fitting the tank. Great bikes but you can see from my other videos that I'm always changing things around. Thanks for watching.
Shame you couldn’t have ridden it back from Perth!
Low compression😂
Well it looks like it’s seen better days but you if anybody will turn it around what are you going to use it for just riding round the neighbourhood to get a pint of milk or going to travel across Australia while making a travel video that be good to watch and how is the vw camper coming along take care mate
It would be nice to do a tour on it. I reckon it could pull my little trailer, or ditch the rear seat and butty box and fasten a crate on. Mind you, have you seen those little single wheel trailers? They're gorgeous. VW is going well. Got to catch up with my editing!
Awesome! Glad I stumbled across your channel. Excited to follow your journey. I have also purchased a cheap Careel 18 completely stripped of all parts and I am now fixing and piecing it all together. Cheers 🤙
Awesome! I'd be delighted to help. Message me through The Spanner Lab's Facebook page and I'll be happy for you to use my set up as a reference.
Couldn't you have dropped the keel down horizontally instead of in the vertical position? At least the pivot pin was accessible and could be removed, on some trailer sailors this pin has been glassed over during manufacture. Good job in the end you got it out.
The rollers on the trailer are too close together to allow the keel to drop horizontally. Apart from that, I reckon I have been fairly lucky.
You've given me a great idea for a feature on the replacement trailer I'm building: removeable rollers will ease keel removal and refit! Thanks😊
My father owned Careel 18 number 95. He would replace the centre board cable every couple of years. The original one broke when I was a kid and and the old man went bananas
I have been known to go bananas myself!😂 I'm planning on using some of that synthetic winch rope.
You Tube has De-monetized this video for me, and instead, given all revenue it generates to Rush, the band I was listening to, playing softly in the background. I can either edit their music out, which plays throughout, quietly (because it was on the radio) or give them the less than $1 I might have made from this! Insert swearing here!
I came here for the Rush music but couldn't hear it lol.
Perhaps you could complain to TH-cam on my behalf. I love Rush, but I need the money more than they do.@@reviewsandprojects
I nearly keeled over with relief that it was galvanised 😂
Going by the vid it sits great on the road no over bouncing. The tent is a winner, set up was so quick.
Thanks Woody. I have an awning too. I haven't tried it yet and it will take significantly longer to erect, but should provide great shelter for cooking etc.

Can’t wait to be swanning around the sound on New Year’s Eve , party boat!😂🍷
For sure!😊
Which Albany? Is it in western Australia?
Yes mate. Western Australia.
Careels are a great little boat with a big association. The price is a steal, inside looks good, outside needs a bit of work but lots of small jobs. Lots to learn. Have fun!
Thanks. Looking forward to it.
Thank you for sending the link to your channel from Facebook ❤
You're very welcome. Thanks for visiting.
Water looks beautiful
Doesn't it? It's heaven.
The timber pole in the cabin with the roller on it looks like a gin pole for single-handed mast stepping. Lots of fun ahead and you can sort a trailer sailer for very little money - good luck!
Thank you.
Well. You’re in it now and I salute you, Lozz. Enjoy and for goodness sake, when it’s finished, make sure that it’s watertight from below.
That's the plan!
It's a hole in the water you will pour money into. Bikes are bad enough but boats are another level....don't ask how I know.
Did you end up selling it?
What rack is that? I like it. Nice video! Thanks
Thanks buddy. The rack is B&B in Australia. Fab quality.
I like it
Thanks 😊
Love the innovation 😂. Practical indeed
Thank you.
Do you have instructions on how to put the boat together. I picked one up but no instructions.
Sorry, I don't.
Did you see my outboard transom?
Just subscribed, Going to make this out here in the Philippines on my 300L. Im seeing 3 sizes here, Just out of interest.... What is diameter of the tube?
I'm so sorry buddy, I have sold the bike now. I don't know what size the tube was other than 1 litre.
I realise it’s necessary, but hadn’t considered it. The rotation of the tow hitch, so you lean and the trailer doesn’t. Neat.
The swivel tow hitch isn't my idea, or even my construction, what's possibly lost on or even overlooked by you, is its lightness. I know it's not news to you, because of your cycling and flying experiences, but nobody makes camper trailers for mid sized bikes!
@@TheSpannerLab Cześć ja sam zbudowałem podobną przyczepę i szukam takiego zaczepu. Podał byś linka do aukcji z takim zaczepem? Dziękuję i pozdrawiam .

Great demo. Thanks for this.
Glad you liked it!
What a fantastic idea I’d love that on the back of my rocket 🚀 bldy amazing and only 60kg’s but you could pack all your clothes and bits and go camping still very lite even then take care of
Good one Lozz!
I'm out here in north idaho. My 95 also has a staintune
I love my Staintune. Great quality. Great sound. I wonder what an Australian exhaust is doing in Idaho?
I've been wanting to do this to my KLR 650 since I got it. Have just come across your channel and love it! 👏
Thank you so much! I've just been fighting off idiots on Facebook and really needed to hear this!
It looks to be very over engineered to me given the weight of the trailer. If you absolutely don't want it to fail then that's the way to do it. A different mounting option would be needed here in NSW though. It'd be a statutory write of for damaging the frame over here.
Thanks for watching.
