This is Chiaki Nanami's darkest timeline. She lost her arm, became addicted to drugs, saw Hajime get swiped by _Hiyoko_ before he died far away, fell in love with Teruteru, stillbirthed his child, killed a panther (!?) got beaten nearly to death by the Ultimate Imposter, basically had to fight in the Normandy Invasion against psychic robots, watched most of her friends die in battle, and died suffering from wounds with no medical attention. This is genuinely a worse end then she had in the Despair Arc.

I heard that Gonta wasn't a caveman trope in Japan, plenty of characters refer to themselves in third person but Gonta was the only character in the franchise to keep it in the English translation. Still doesn't redeem the character that much, still kinda forgettable among the rest of the characters. Could be wrong I only watch youtube videos so don't take it as fact.

Why does it seem so in character for Kaito to grab a bow, go try to hunt an animal, and then sprint back into camp an hour later, getting chased by a partially-pincushioned Muffalo, shouting for Gonta and Tenko to help him?

Honestly looking back at this chapter, I’m pretty sure these detectives were always throwaways from the start just from their fortes. Zange’s is the most unique, but as said in the game, it’s really obsolete when compared to a hidden camera stowed on someone’s person. Pucci’s and Aphex’s are practically the same, Aphex can detect human bodies just from a limited radius, while Pucci can detect all noise that happens in her range. Zilch and Melami’s fortes are absolutely useless, like what the fuck are you gonna do becoming a disney princess to solve a murder, or straight up Maya Fey except you need someone’s clothes that FIT PERFECTLY on you, to bring back someone’s soul from the dead.
