Good stuff!! I wonder if the word "services" wasn't just attached to it because it was held in a church. Therefore, the funeral was combined with a church "service". Idk. Oh so true about the shoes! (And ironic, because I sent this to a friend who owns a running shoe store! Lol) It also makes me wonder about the "track" ... what would it have been made of? And I remember Grandma had her Tobacco plot up until she passed in 1985.That cash crop paid her property taxes and what few bills she had for the year.I remember all the Flowers you mentioned as well she had them all and I remember zinnias.I don’t know about feeding tobacco to goats though she didn’t have any. I remember her giving lumps of coal to hogs occasionally though. And yes the clothes line never went out of style in our house.I could talk all night long about this. 👍. @ No her tobacco field stayed in the same location every year. It wasn’t that big maybe an acre or so because they were only allowed to grow so many pounds a year.I think this kept the price regulated. I made this comment before but it didn't post for some reason. It's such an awesome feeling when you can connect stories to actual history! They definitely would've reused those big logs if at all possible...was a lot of work to hue those things! I've found out-of-place notches and charring marks on old structural logs at my work that didn't make sense at first but we were able to figure it out eventually and basically prove some stories and discredit some others based off the physical evidence. These old cabins/buildings have stories to tell, we just need to pay attention and listen! Also, that razor is so cool!
