Taking shots of a similar long tail at Mid-Ohio, it didn't seem as loud as the 500 inch Chevies at first. When the revs came up it was like a dentist's drill through my ears. Porsche knew what they had.

Trivia: When the first of the Paisley cars arrived at Le Mans for practice in 1970 (the #3 917L which finished second--Larrousse/Kauhsen), it was painted only in the white background shapes over purple. General reaction was: "Fugly". But overnight, the mechanics added the green paint, which they had brought with them of course. Probably still wet the next day, but the car was MUCH more well received. It does seem to have dried in time for what was a pretty soggy race too.
