Hey I’m starting your video right now now. I think it’s great you made this. I remember in 2018, the CEO of the Company I was at said that women often not invited to networking events after work because of our obligations at home. I have no kids. No family obligations. Still that kind of mentality is why it is viewed as okay to exclude us. I’m 36 and an attorney. The only question I get is about my kids. It’s the first thing I’m asked at work, in the doctors office (even chiropractor), and in general. I get paid significantly less than i should and I have to fight my way up.

I know that I am not the intended audience, but I am currently writing a research paper that reflects how quiet quitting is being discussed in the media, with a focus on how members of minority communities are left out of the discussion. Thank you for sharing your insight, experience and wisdom on the inequity in the workplace while empowering women of color to take charge and reject the inequality that is the status quo. I agree that quiet quitting is not an option as well as not the solution, thank you again.

I wish I had known this at least eight years ago. I had that experience. A lot more people need to hear this as you can become complacent in "permanent" jobs. And when you are out, you find yourself with debts to pay, and even if you start a business, it takes time to build a clientele whilst the bills are there.

This is such great advice, Janice! We really are told (by the media/society) from a young age that if it's not going to be perfect, we shouldn't even attempt it. It's only now that I feel confident enough to create and produce my own content (even though it may not be perfect in my eyes). I was only able to come to that conclusion once I realised that no matter how it comes out, someone out there will be able to connect with, appreciate and see the value in my (imperfect) work.

Well done Desi-Ann!! Truly inspiring! I have said to myself that this year I have to pray harder to get rid of that fear and to look for more avenues to grow a business. I have gone back into the corporate world to an institution that is headed by persons that don't believe in working from home, and I have said to myself I have to push to get out of there and that culture. Money is not everything for me. Even if I am not making six figures, I want that time freedom. I am prepared to live in a small dwelling and have a small vehicle that is easy to maintain. My "WHY" is freedom from the rigid hours and working to the bone to show that I have acquired very luxurious items (with a huge debt to a lending institution).
