With all of the external insanity afflicting us on a daily basis, this retreat into beauty and grace is a great comfort.

It’s so strange and disappointing how much the camera cuts out the principals’ feet in the beginning of the piece. Nevertheless, it’s wonderful to see Suzanne Farrell dance. She captures the character of the music brilliantly. The mystery, the abandon, the ferocity. I’m so glad that with Peter Martins now gone at City Ballet, she’s being brought back into the fold, staging this piece, now called “Errante,” on young dancers there.

SUPERB! A joy to watch, not only because of the brilliant dancing, but also because the pas de deux is so well filmed ... no stupid camera angles and endless pointless edits, just magnificent dancing being filmed by people who know what they are doing.

Farrell has a way of sustaining each movement. It's so beautuful. There isn't that softness in ballet dancers I've seen who perform it today.

Balanchine mde Tzigane on Suzanne when she returned to New York City Ballet in 1975 after a 6 year absence.

I saw Farrell many times. She danced like an unfurling ribbon of silk. Flawless.

McBride is a master of course, but… does anyone else feel like her shoes are dead? I’m sure she liked them that way but I can’t help but wish I could see her in a more supportive shoe 😅

Years ago Mr. Martins was a guest artist with the National Ballet of Canada dancing the part of the Prince in Swan Lake and even before he appeared all aglow on stage of the O'Keefe Center in Toronto, the dance critics were offering words of praise about him. I knew several of the dancers on stage, and was told Martins didn't have time even for one rehearsal and was completely unfamiliar with this particular version of Swan Lake. WHAT TO DO? Several of the female dancers accompanied Martins around the stage, acting as his loyal companions and discreetly prompted him to turn left or turn right, or go left upstage, etc. And he diligently obeyed and the audience was none the wiser. And the leading dance critic of the Toronto Star, William Littler, loved the evening, as well.

Whenever I watch these Pas de Deux, I immediately think of DaVinci - how he would feel watching these extraordinary examples of such physical perfection in precise motion. Knowing the infinite number of repetitions it took to perfect the smallest and simplest of movement always astounds me. And then they share it with all of us when they Dance. A humble privilege whenever I watch for clearly, this Couple dances within the sacred Halls of the Divine when they do.

I took ballet from the time I was 4 until I was 15. I spent the better part of my childhood and teens watching Suzanne. I even taught my self to draw ballerinas by tracing her pictures in Dance Magazine. She was always my favorite. She is as fluid as water. Watching her and Peter in this with the beautiful music is hypnotic.

So paradoxical, Misha’s extremely toned, muscular body, hanging in the air as weightless as a feather. It’s akin to magic, it’s otherworldly and completely mesmerizing for that reason.

I've watched this so many times and never tire of it.

very time I saw McBride on stage she sparkled, she outshined everyone on the stage, we cannot find fault in anything that was merely the technique of the time, and Misha is just out of this world
