    What Genesis red color did you use for this mottling? I really like that Mottling color.

    • @carrieperkins133
      @carrieperkins133 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a mixture of parole red, purple, blue and white. I will add a bit of each color til I get the shade I'm looking for. If I want it more mauve I'll add more blue, if I want it more red then I'll use more of the red. Adding the white last gives it the creamy color. Basically I just play around with those 4 colors til I like it. Just go easy with the blue or it will turn purple instead.

    Most high end prototype artist still open the nostrils... and alot even do the ears

    • @carrieperkins133
      @carrieperkins133 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually I wouldn't say most do because most actually stopped doing the practice of opening up the nose and ears because it can allow moisture to enter causing mold. It was a practice way back when kits didn't have the details like they do now. Now the sculpters are making sure that their kits nostrils and ear canals are deeper than they were in the past to do away with unnecessary drilling. Opening any part of the kit is not recommended because it compromises the vinyl causing it to split.

      @Amandahugginkizz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@carrieperkins133 nope most prototype artist STILL do, like Alexa Calvo, Bianca frank, Jacquelyn Kramer, alit of Russian artist... they all still do this, I have been in the reborn world since the late 90s way before doll kits (except apple Valley) when berenguers had to be stripped and used. I follow hundreds of artist and yes almost all the prototype artist I follow still open the nose and ears, I just saw 1 make a tutorial about opening the ears not even a month ago. And that's a myth, I've redone many reborns with no openings that had mold, and I've done reborns with openings that have non, it's all in how you treat it, and most people getting high end aren't pretend baithing them or even risking that, they keep their hair in wrap most of the time..... its the cheaper ones that have no openings that are more likely to get mold from being mishandled. If you pay 2500 for a doll you are going to treat it better then a doll you paid 350 dollars for.

    • @Amandahugginkizz
      @Amandahugginkizz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@carrieperkins133 you know what compromise the vinyl? Baking it...... baking it multiple times..... that's funny I always hear the same 2 reply "mold and compromises the vinyl" as if baking it 45 times doesn't. It wasn't made to be baked, yes that's how artist paint them but it's not what the vinyl was made for. Look at belly plates almost every one cracks after baking....

    • @jamiejamerson15
      @jamiejamerson15 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Most artists don't open nostrils or ears anymore. It allows moisture and mold. A few sparce artists might do it, but in the community of reborn collectors most will pass on a doll that's been compromised.

    How many layers you do? Do you bake in between??

    • @carrieperkins133
      @carrieperkins133 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      How many layers depends on how dark of a skintone I'm aiming for. It could be 5 layers or up to 50. I also bake every layer. It can be time consuming but worth the effort because if you don't bake between each layer you can end up with a muddy looking skintone. As long as your baking it for right time and temp it will not harm the vinyl with so many bakes.

    • @carrieperkins133
      @carrieperkins133 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! The colors I use depend on what color mohair I will be rooting. Usually a mixture of burnt umber with ultramarine blue and ill add Mars black if I want a darker color. The key to lighter lines is to add more thinner. Less thinner and the lines will be darker. Here is a video of me kinda explaining it. Hugs! th-cam.com/video/wM3fsFiVJxc/w-d-xo.html

      @rebornlifeandlittlegizmo8991 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@carrieperkins133 thank you 😊 I normally do red, blue, yellow and purple mottling. I'm not sure about the mottling colours for an AA baby. Would I just use the same colours?

    • @carrieperkins133
      @carrieperkins133 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually do a purple and a mauve red. You can do the other colors too but they aren't necessary. Any color of mottling will help give it a 3D effect under the skintone. Adding the other colors will add more detail if baby is going to be light skinned AA. If going for a darker skintone the lighter mottling colors probably won't show. If I know I'm aiming for a darker skintone I'll make my mottling more concentrated so it shows up still after all the flesh layers added.

      Both sizes feed the same way. Occasionally you will get a needle maker who puts the fork in the same direction as the tail but not often. If you get a needle that wont root cross wise from the front just twist the front to the side a quarter turn and it should catch.
