We didn't expect anything different from el Vasco Aguirre as that is his signature style plus México's transition to no longer being top dog in CONCACAF changes their approach to matches against Canada and the USMNT.

We all hope that is the case! Aguirre needs to start using those matches to try new players to find replacements for them vacas sagradas.

This is what Canada is doing. In Canada there is so much immigration over the last 30-50 years and beyond, with families from countries where football is king. That means something. Canada is a country of immigrants so you can see how football is becoming more important to our country. It's not just players. It's parents, coaches, fans etc. from all over the world. Literally. Our landscape is also quite collectivist which means even if your family comes from low means (as many immigrant families do), you can still find a path to success. The country is smaller too which means you can be seen. This creates the fabric necessary for football to thrive. Mexico has a built in fabric of football of course, but it certainly explains some of the reasons why Canada is seeing more recent success and can regularly compete with the Us and Mexico.

@@mdca8773 Short term, have to allow some of their players to be sold to Europe at much lower costs, and give a lot more minutes to young players in league. Long term is similar answer. Also give ACTUAL opportunities to dual nationals with national team.

@mdca8773 PPG continues to preach that line of giving dual nats a chance. In these times where homegrown talen is scarce, why not take advantage of all the great talent the MLS is developing and poach a few of those players from the USMNT talent pool? Fortunately/Unfortunately, a spot in the main USMNT will become more challenging as more players play in Europe. This is a prime chance for México to lure those who feel disappointed or unappreciated by the USSF while Doña Fede finally makes some groundbreaking changes for developing homegrown talent in ligaMX

Yeah, man. It was an extremely poor display from the USMNT. It felt as if they didn't care whatsoever knowing this was a worthless match for them and the WC process...

Lmaoooo, it is for sure frustrating to see this "golden" generation settle for the bare minimum effort and thinking they will win matches in CONCACAF by default cause almost the entire squad plays in a Top 5 league in Europe... Hopefully Poch will put an end to this disdain from the likes of Pulisic and co.

Agreed. If they knew this match was as irrelevant as January's camp cupcake, then at least use the minutes to either cap tie players or to test new tactics... I guess everyone is waiting for Poch to come...

we'll keep our fingers crossed for that Poch's signature as it has been three weeks since the unofficial announcement and USSF has yet to formally introduce him as the USMNT coach... On the other hand, Scally continues to waste every single opportunity he gets to prove that he can pick up Dests' slack, SMH.

Very good lineup but I would replace lainez with Marcelo. I think Marcelo is playing better and younger

@@Tonynotsoprano I like Marcelo off the bench right now. Think he has super sub capability right now, which is important. Diego can take defenders on and create chances for scoring opportunities which is needed. Either way I hope they both get reasonable playing time. I hope they line up to something close to this. We really need more of an offensive setup

We were full of MLS players in the gold cup and got crushed. Implying the team was horrible because it didn't use enough players from MLS is very disingenuous.

@@bryseisme2 fair point, but my point was that it won't matter where we pull players from. Euro snobs tend to believe that more euro players will improve the USMNT, but that just hasn't happened. 2014 WC had several MLS players and did really well. I'm just saying, maybe don't just write ppl off because of where they play. That is more disingenuous.

So where are the good American MLS players? The only players I can see getting call ups are prospects. I don’t see the need to call an a veteran who’s average in MLS? Now if it’s a player on MVP level then sure , no issue

​@@yanzehro1437how often do you actually watch or follow MLS? Be honest. The media doesn't do great coverage. MLS isn't getting call ups because ppl think only euro players are good enough. There's plenty of players that are no longer rookies that have talent, most of the veterans of MLS have retired, but the veterans wouldnt be fit enough for Pochettino anyways.

Like I said if there’s one who’s performing like Hani Muktar, I’m all for that player being called up but the American players don’t really stand out. Look at the players who were called for last year’s gold cup Roldan, Long, Shaq Moore. No way they’re good enough for national team level
