I loooooved the films so much. Originals are always the best. The teaser has made me 'slightly' interested in it, but I am ready to be disappointed once again. 🥲

There used to be a time when anything coming out from these companies was a must-see, no questions asked. Now I feel like the 'message' has tainted everything and even made it harder for actual good films to be noticed. I get what you mean about not wanting to get the attention of "some nose ring, blue haired, looney" 🤭 but they have to realize that, THAT audience never shows up and if they do, they are a small group. Hopefully, this film, if it's good could be a step back in the right direction. Thank you for taking the time to comment! 🤗

Not really. Apart from Astrid, so far, SO FAR... The rest looks good. I don't like the change, but if they will respect the character's personalty we're going in the right direction. Baby steps. Hopefully this is the only change. We'll have to see.

Whether or not Oda can do anything will depend on the contracts. Oda is a bit unique in that it's such a huge franchise and he's so wealthy already, and he's the largest pillar for Shounen Jump. So when licensing that work to Netflix, then Oda presumably would've had a lot of leverage in negotiations. The US has also disappointed the Manga and Anime industry over and over again, and it's only recently that these international relations has started to mend. From what I remember, I think Oda had a lot to do with the production of the Netflix One Piece (idk why you people insist on live-action remakes, they're absolute nonsense when it isn't a realistic story to begin with. The stories were never made for live action, and forcibly changing the medium is just pure greed and blasphemic) but it's normal for authors to be there as a consultant, and it's practically never that they have any power to make decisions; have only been very few exceptions. So whether Oda has that power, depends entirely on the contracts.

@ well the reason s1 was good was because the writer of ONE PIECE was so involved so if that continues in s2 then it should be fine ( I hope )

@@boomingbob1579 depends entirely on whether the contracts stipulates that what he says actually matters. If he didn't keep decision-making powers in the contract, and was only there as a consultant, then they can ignore everything he says and there's nothing he can do about it. It's normal for authors to only get a consultant role, and there has almost never been any exception to this.

the first season is full of heart, and the cast chosen so far looks really good. But the arcs that follow would be easy to twist into something negative. 😭

@ChroniclingMayhem I tried to watch it. But, when I saw the San Sen Sekai, I gave up. It was so ingrained in my mind that moment, that seeing the actor of Zoro using a giant black club and jumping to attack, that I said "Nope". And also, the Kurahadol arc too. But, yeah. I understand why people like it. But after seeing the original, I feel they changed way too much to keep it shorter. They're gonna do the same with the next seasons. So, I don't have too much hope for the next seasons...

@@Zanzoltan yeah, it's only going to get more difficult. I would be happy with only the first season. It did it's job of bringing more fans in and telling the story.

It's because stories can be tailored to their chosen mediums. For example, a romcom manga in a school setting with students as the protagonists, would be very easily transferrable as a whole to live-action. But stories with fantastical elements, especially one as heavy as One Piece, then it just becomes blasphemic against the original work. Also, there's a bit of a hidden meaning behind why shounen stories lean so heavily into technique names and fantastically depicted fights. It's because realism in depictions of violence in content aimed at minors in Japan, is something they heavily cnsor. Ironically though, sxual designs like Nami after the 3d2y reunion, is something they're totally fine with for shounen demographics.
