Schindler Smart MRL Lift in Houghton
This lift is very rare and I have never came across one of these before. I am unsure how to select the basement on these lifts, so if anyone knows let me know! Also sorry about the lack of uploads recently, this will change over the summer!

This lift is awesome, complete and original. The logic has been kept the same too as it can only take one call at a time. There was also a goods lift in the shop but I couldn't film it as there was too many staff. 1960's Pickerings Lift without inner doors at a Hotel in Newcastle

Probably a Pickerings, or maybe a 60's generic. Was very surprised to find this lift, as I thought Health and Safety rules meant car doors had to be added. A very nice, efficient Otis Atlantic lift here, very American style, and traction which is good to see. Never heard of Otis Atlantic before though, but it seems just the same as a Elevonic. This is a very nice, 1930s lift. However, the COP has been replaced with generic buttons which is a shame. Nevertheless, a great lift fully original other than the replaced buttons. This was originally a Woolworths store. These escalators have since been replaced as part of a store refurbishment / expansion
Utter c..nts they sacked me for being spotted at hexham station going for an interview in Newcastle. Thank god I got the job & got the hell out of sheep shagging , farmers wives , jam making , inbred country. I hated every minute I spent in this narrow minded town!!!

Yeah, I'm not sure if this lift will still be here as I've never been to Durham for a while and BHS is long gone.
@@liftsandescalatorsofenglan1602 Yeah it's a TJ Hughes now I think but I've never been in so I am unsure about this lift. I have just done the lifts to the car park which are similar. I will try and see what has happened to this one next time I am here.
@@kalifts Ah okay, TJ Hughes are usually pretty big so there's a decent chance it will still be here I suppose.
@@liftsandescalatorsofenglan1602 It's still there but doesn't go up to TJ Hughes and now has a metal blanking plate over the S button.

Great Video! This is one of my favourite lifts! I filmed it this year and it is still original! The only change from this video is that floor 0 is no longer labelled inside the lift for some reason and looks like it has a different key now for 0.
I’m surpsied it’s still there to be honest, it wasn’t in the best of conditions when I visited last! Great videos btw!
@@liftsandescalatorsofenglan1602 Thanks very much! It seemed ok when I was there earlier this year, I am not sure what it was like before that as it was only in 2020 that I first saw it but I hope it will keep going for a while yet as it is getting harder and harder to see an Otis series 1!

I think when BHS closed down they were removed.

This lift (along with the other two) are still here, the floor that goes to BHS is still there but locked off. These were originally Express! Edit: Nvm they aren't Express as they are too new, not sure what they are though

@@MichalM Yeah, two which serve the odd floors but not BHS and one that serves the even floors but used to go to BHS

Amazing find! I was wondering what the other green lamp would say when there are 2 of them. The one I saw had them both burnt out! :-)
The escalator is slow since they expected visitors to be looking around at the display. When it first opened, the Earth model revolved around the escalator - but they had to stop it, as it was creating a vortex tunnel effect making people fall over on the escalator!

I tried safety braking but it just slowed down and kept moving really slow
Most newer Gen2s run on inspection speed after they are safety-broken. I tested this on the new glass Gen2 at the blue mall

Lifts and Escalators of England yeah they are Otis ones and the lowest one keeps breaking already :-/ but the other 5 work great :-D take it that store only has a car park on one level, rather than both underneath and top of the store?
Yeah it's underneath the store. Has 3 lifts for one car park too!
UPDATE: This lift is now gone as the centre is being refurbished into a new cinema/dining complex. Such a shame.

Yeah it's very similar to the Elevonic 401. They are very nice lift sadly most of them I come across are hydraulic and are not as good.
Atlantic is same than Elevonic 401 but in Europe.
