Im working on a deep freezer and pantry challenge. Finding ways to use up random items- and using those as a jumping off point for planning meals and what groceries I need to get. It is eye opening and interesting what we can make from what we have accumulated. Also trying to do more from scratch baking and cooking- but haven’t really tackled bread yet (except for banana/apple/quick bread type things) with my family’s size I need to bulk bake in order to make it worth my time. Finding that time proves difficult but did like to give it a try. You are doing awesome.

Maybe you could make an inventory of your pantries and freezers? Its hard to see what options you might have. This is a go to recipe for me - 1 c rice 3 c frozen vegetables 1 t garlic powder 1 packet dry onion soup mix (or you can google the spices that are in it) 1 T soy sauce 2 c chicken broth Dump all into 9x13. Bake at 400* for 40 minutes, stirring halfway through. **Optional, add leftover roast, shredded chicken or any type of meat!

I think you still did really good on your budget! I noticed that several of the items you purchased, you mentioned that you missed them in a recipe you made this past week. Are you planning to have those recipes again this coming week? If not, maybe you don't need to replace those items in your pantry right away? Sometimes I keep 2 grocery lists - one for items I need this week and another one for just if I have extra room in my budget. Just a thought if your budget is running really close and some items aren't "urgent."

I enjoy the end pieces as open-faced sandwiches as they are more sturdy

I like making bread pudding with my leftover bread. It’s especially delicious when you serve it with English custard or ice cream.

Or, you could take those croutons, toss them in a bowl with melted butter and Italian seasoning, mix thoroughly, then bake in a slow oven until dried and crispy. You'll have delicious croutons that make soups and salads even yummier.
