To answer your question, it’s usually just called salsa verde. Which literally translates to green sauce. Some places have a special name for it but usually they won’t use it unless they offer two or more different green sauces. It might just be as easy to ask for the spicy green sauce or the sweet green sauce if they offer two.

That’s very unusual, you don’t normally see one family making tamales with both corn husks and banana leaves. Typically, the banana leaves method is found in Mayan descendants regions; like southern Mexico and Central America. Meanwhile the corn husk tamales are more commonly used among Aztec influenced cultures which are through central Mexico up into Texas and the US southwestern states. Seeing them from the same family is like going to a friend’s house and they make sweet tea and regular tea that they add sugar to per glass served. Why do both?
