You guys did the right thing, I know you were trying to be more patient with him but using the gaff to poke him was the best thing.. They progressively close in closer and closer and the moment they know you take your eyes off, they will grab your kayak... I've seen them come up out of the water and bite on to the back of 40-50' yachts to see what it is.. crazy

I watched a video with the exact same colour kayaks , also off South Africa and thought this must be a different angle of their encounter. Totally different experience....maybe don't go fishing off a kayak ? When your body is only 6 inches from the water...and you are filling your pants to make the kayak heavier.

And the thing is any anytime this shark could EASILY tip that kayak over if it really wanted to. And their is NOTHING they could do about it.

That thing could flip those kayaks into the air if it wanted. I'd be paddling for shore immediately. Of course, I wouldn't be in a Kayak off the coast of South Africa in the first place.

You guys did a great job with that situation bringing the small Kayaks really close together and locking tight with one another, just a bit of advice for future circumstances like this to add an extra layer of safety to give you the best chance possible of avoiding any fatality's you should start kissing and hugging as you are locked up real close, Sharks hate gay's!

The most terrifying thing is the fact: the shark was there the whole time... Just watching... When he shows himself its a goof signal, its like: im not interested in you, just leaving.

The fear that this creature causes... Man, in this guy place i didnt know what to do. Its very easy to say " stay calm or something like that".

Quick story i was kayak off the coat of long beach lauched from seal beach harbor out the jetty to the oil rig islands not the platforms. I was heading about a mile and a half out i stopped about a mile and .8 and stopped to smoke out of my puffco, i was smoking on some hash rosin and was enjoying my morning. All high asf to something in my head told me look back, as i looked back i saw something big boil from the surface i thought it like bonita or a seal lion it was grey sky foggy weather type day. From all of a sudden a 11ft white pops out of now where , my soul at that time was not on this planet imaging be baked and you about to start a cool fishing day and a monster begins to circle me for about 40min followed me about half a mile called my mom and told her the situation she was praying on the phone on speaker saying in the name of jesus you leave my son go on. And i kid you not 5min later it starts to swim off . I honestly ended my day there had my mother on the phone the way back. Don’t get it twisted there not in our home we are i. Theres and they’ll do anything to protect. This shark was curious but not stupid they very intelligent creatures. Becareful everyone stay safe ill be posting on my channel soon once i get me gopro trust me i got some crazy fishing videos of deep sea fishing.

They’re lucky (sort of)… that it’s a “juvenile” white… Because had it been a more “experienced”… LARGER mature Great White… they would NOT had see it coming… until… it breached up from the depths like a HORROR SCENE! 😱 It’s the ocean… be prepared to be “inspected” by the local inhabitants… just sayin’ 😒

Panic, splashing and running away is last thing you wanna do but I get it, until it happens have no idea what you would do
