Hi great question! I guess it all depends on why you are canning. If it is for emergency preparedness then that means you may want this food if there is no power. For me it is also about the quantity I can. I would not be able to freeze everything, it would take up too much space. I don't have to worry about freezer burn, freezer space etc. Its not really that much work I suppose. It all depends how you look at it. 🙂

@@serojasadourian7704 Hi. Not sure to be honest. But I found this. Canning Relishes and Pickles Sweet relish and pickle recipes do not adapt as well to sugar-free canning as do plain fruits. Try recipes that call for artificial sweeteners, but don’t be too discouraged if some batches are disappointing. Finished products often are mushy or have an unsuitable flavor. When canning pickles and relishes, use the boiling water bath method and processing times that are adjusted for altitude.

Hi. You are right! This is one of my first videos and to this day I am still learning. Here you go : For each 4 cups of prepared juice (raspberries crushed and strained) you will need: 5.5 cups of sugar and one box of powdered pectin (57 grams) I hope this helps and thanks for the comment. I updated the description. ☺

Thanks for this! I just picked up a bag of dehydrated vegetables with seasoning from my local Amish store and was trying to figure out how to use them. I have some leftover smoked pulled pork and a can of hot Rotel that I'm going to add, as well as a tablespoon or two of cider vinegar at the end. That's a trick my mother-in-law taught me. It wakes up , the flavor and adds a little tang to any soup or chili. Will let you know how it goes!

@@LivingOffTheLandit was FANTASTIC! Smokiness from the pork...heat from the Rotel...bright flavor from the cider vinegar. My family loved it! Thanks for the inspiration

Oh the possibilities!! You can put all kinds of things in there. Beans, sauces, vegetables. I have a whole channel dedicated to canning and the pint is my most used size. You can also use them for storing food, freezing food. 🙂

Wow that was a great video. One thing I wish you had added was whether or not the 45 minutes is enough if I'm in a high altitude area. Will I be able to steam can my tomatoes?

@@pjerxleben1251 Hi ! Thanks for watching. Great question. Every area, country, state, province can be at different altitudes so it’s important to know the altitude where you live. The maximum time you can steam can is 45 minutes. If you follow the link below scroll down a bit, it will bring you to a table that has the time adjustements based on your altitude. I hope this helps answer your question. www.bernardin.ca/docs/bernardin_intro_to_canning_eng1.pdf.
