Love Satriani! Awesome video guys
@@esunrise9004 accept no substitute, Joe is the best 😁
Great. Thanks!
What was with the cows?
@@Steve21945 feeding time they get crazy
Please ! More Chlorine in the Gene pool.
Even at my best, I was never that good.
@@fredc3543 that was when I was a young 25, now I’m 57
Since this speed run the BOM have homogenized the wind data and republished for that day and you were in fact sailing in 80 knot winds 😂
What was the speed of the boat in those 60 kt. winds? did you guys break the speed record?
We have no idea how fast we went, we never intended to record the boat speed, we were mainly interested in sailing the boat in extreme wind with flat water. My crew that day, Paul Larson went on to build his own custom sailboat called Sail Rocket, he clocked 68knots top speed, he’s held the speed record since 2012. I had another crew jump on board that day, Dave and he ended up winning the Mexico Hobie 16 worlds 1995
@@geoffrowdon 68 kts.is screaming fast for a sailboat. It's cool those guys were able to hold the record.
I like the guitar. Who is that? (And I love Melbourne.)
Stevie Ray Vaughan
That must have been a blast.
Rich People. Gotta luv how they abuse their toys. Doing that to a boat unnecessarily speaks volumes about the character of the entitled rich people on that boat.
😔 P r o m o S M
I have to get one…..
Get a new dash cam!! and stop the distracting "Music""
Those pedestrians 🤦🏻 thoughtless morons.
Need more videos. It’s hard to find friends like that!! Awesome. Takes 2 days to warm up.
Great video! Greetings from Russia! I have the same catamaran, but it's already cold here!
It’s sooo much fun!
Is it me is the mast raked oddly?
wooow, and no comments, likes on this super video ?? so cool, thx😃
Peps having fun wish i was that young again
I dont care what he says, this is NO WAY 60 knots! And he says closer to 70 knots in a comment. Lmao I've sailed a lot! Before people say I know nothing about sailing. The "proof" could've been shown from any day. Just look at the bird flying at 8:26 not a chance it's 60-70 more like 30-40 at very best! Still cool but no point in lying!
Wow! I only just discovered thais video. I was there that day and speed sailing one of those windsurfers in the background. I remember you crazy guys with the Hobie! I think we have you on some of our video as well. We measured the wind over the spit with our anemometer at 30--35 knots gusting over 40. IT WAS A WILD DAY!! Definitely not 60 knots but still amazing to even sail that thing. It's true that the winds were gusting over 60 knots that day at the Wilsons Prom lighthouse where it is far more exposed. 🙂. Here is a day with very similar wind over the spit on 2004. we were sailing fine when it was 35 knots (measured) th-cam.com/video/ZtFJT_UScvk/w-d-xo.html Here is some footage taken on the same day you sailed: At 2.15 you can catch a glimpse of your Hobie sailing past in the background. At 2.30 you can see it in the background again parked on the spit. Definitely no more than 40-45 knots of wind that day. 🙂 th-cam.com/video/tXQtar2EnuA/w-d-xo.html
The guy drinking the coffee at 1:56 cracks me up
Should race to Moona Moona Creek and back to Plantation Point.
As a proud owner of Hobie H14 Turbo I say this video is the shit
Boat is overpowered, not much fun. That day was better for windsurfing
First minutes in and I saw pasta cut in half. Oh my god.
A horror movie, I hope you didn’t get nightmares
Love how they're not wearing helmets!
It was sailing on the beach
Thanks for the tips. Especially where to set the spring tension.
Perfect music accompaniment
3 grown men, 40 knots. Nothing dry about that ride! I've been fast, but never No Jib fast like this! What a ride! Nice!!
At 60 knots, you could have sailed that thing through sand.
I guess other than a "record".......whats the point??? Much better perfomance from the boat in manageable conditions.
This music is fking amazing
Yes a couple of my fav songs
Nice. Perfect music for that adventure. Good idea no jib. Great show ⛵️
40 knots of wind and no white caps?
Shallow water 3 meters deep blowing off shore, so very small waves, wind was over 30 knots so club racing was cancelled, peak wind gust were 45 knots as you can see in the chart at start of the video. We had 3 people on board with no jib, heaps of fun. You might be interested in my 60 knot video we shot back in 1991
@@geoffrowdon based on you sail position and the camera angle you aren’t near the shore at 14 knots white caps form.
ᴘʀᴏᴍᴏsᴍ 💥
awsome!!!
3:50 hahaha
How many knots?
20-25knots, club racing was cancelled, so instead we got the two Hobie Waves out for some fun, having a competition who could sail the fastest out to a floating buoy mark and back.
ha im thinks of join pmyc with my 16
Sure, we would be happy to see you join
Could you add the specs of the rubber seal? Thanks Mauricio
You can use any type of waterproof rubber to plug the mast, Hobie may sell a specific part if you ring a dealer
some poor guy is gonna buy that H16 and wunder why everything so stretched
I sold the boat a long time ago, I really liked the fluro green sail color
Traveller out and mast rotating ! Like riding a bucking bronco
🤘
Awesome great music song playing guitar
Thanks Peter
Thanks Geoff! Well done 👍
No worries Nick, i was stuck on pattern #1 for all of my life until i discovered this simple clue to learning all the patterns. So easy now, very satisfying to cover the whole fretboard using all the 5 patterns now.
Minus the Gib?
Yes, we didn’t put the jib on, sometimes we reef the mainsail too if it blowing over 50knots
And no one on the wire??
awesomeness
Seems like every where else has relatively new boats. Most around my part of California are about 30 -45 years old.... But they are just as fun and cheap too.
These boats are from the 2014 worlds in Australia, we got plenty of older boats too
