Unfortunately it’s a story repeated every year, and I’m sure on many popular beaches up & down the country. I do think these rogues are in the minority, and most of us true anglers have a lot of respect for our beautiful shoreline. Just such a shame they are spoiling it for everyone else. @@fleshboundtobone hi there buddy, we seem to have good years with more fish around & bad, but in my opinion I don’t think the numbers will ever recover, the impact from commercial fishing is just too immense. Just my opinion & I hate to be pessimistic, but I think the poor old cod’s days are on a permanent decline… we will still try to catch then though while we can! Thanks for watching 😎😊👍👍

Hi buddy How are you doing. Well Abbottsbury was packed Saturday but managed to find a place & squeeze in to fish. There was loads of whitebait about & even youngsters were netting loads of them as for the mackerel they were really at first small conger bait size didn't get any on the feathers at all but had some sport on my home made float then swapped to a different float I had a few in the end & had fresh mackerel for monday nights tea very nice. @@fishdisco3107 .I love fishing for rays .the undulate is one special fish I've yet to catch .we don't see them in the bristol channel .I've seen a few landed aboard Weymouth and Exmouth boats .never caught one myself.

@@toadfishuksportangling2690 yes, I agree, used to fish the deeps & witches a lot back when I lived in Rhoose, never saw any undulates, strange really, there must be a reason. Hello pal, it took a ragworm bait that had been out around 15 minutes, so there was very little left of it! There’s me throwing out great big fish baits & it took a tiny piece of rag 😂 I’ll take it all the same! Thanks for watching buddy 😎👍👍

@@fishdisco3107 My biggest Undulate came on a small rag/sandeel bait on a size 1 hook .

Well done on a size 1 hook, but funny you say that, when I lived back home in Wales, on my local beach (Rhoose) rag & Sandeel was my go-to bait for spotted rays, it always seemed to get them. Cheers 😎👍👍

Hello there Chris😊 the ray in this video was an undulate ray, they are protected & must be returned safely if caught. Thornback ray, if caught in an area where you are allowed to take them, are indeed a beautiful fish to eat, just tricky to skin! It’s a real shame that the pressures of commercial fishing have reduced stocks & caused these measures to be put in place, but that’s the world we live in now. @@carldawson832 hi Carl, I know what you mean buddy, I think it’s why we all love to fish so much, that feeling you get when your playing a fish in & it breaks through the surf for the first time & you catch a glimpse of what it is, totally priceless. I have to admit, I did think it was going to be a good cod on the way in, stayed very deep all the way, didn’t kite up at all. Hope you manage to get to fish Chesil one day, it’s a magical place. @@fishdisco3107 Went to Decathlon other day have some interesting bits! got some lures. Have some of those green hooks myself. All Cox n Balls gear is all from China! no magic hook companies there as they bought names and made elsewhere. Got some interesting hooks from Christchurch angling for top or bottom hooks! and will be around in larger sizes. Veals do some great hooks for top hooks often use Catfish type with turned out eye.Can't remember all the names/types but have a rummage on website!.

Hello mate just thought I’d give you a little update you on the trip as requested. First day was planning on fishing ferry bridge however strongish SW wind and rain coupled with the sky high car parking fee at bridging camp put a damper on that ( almost like the council don’t want people fishing next to the bird sanctuary) lol . Figured it might be a short session so made my way to checkpoint. Given the conditions clear choppy sea target was bream. However had few decent size Mackerel on the clip down pop up rigs I’d made up instead . Didn’t see anything else caught the weather conditions made getting any distance casting tough. Had some better luck and got few nice new species at Chesil Cove on the next session , Bream and Tub gurnard coming to popped up Rag worm. The rest of the trip was spent on Abbotsbury which is for me hallowed ground as it’s where I’ve had my best days fishing previously and just think is a beautiful mark and place to be . I fished about half way between the teeth and pensioners point . Could see runs of tuna breaching on the last day about 100yards out or so . Managed to get a decent size plaice and a Bull Huss maybe pound and a half. Both new species for me plus more Gurnard and some units of Mackerel that got my heart pumping giving slack line bites ! All in all it was a good trip and nice to be putting new rigs and techniques into practice. We live pretty much slap bang in the middle of the country so don’t get too wet a line as often as I’d like. Already planning the next trip though!
