In the real world there is no rule. You can use whatever movement you want. Interestingly, the moves that make Silat effective are illegal in this competition format, so the matchup was pointless.

I would suggest that the Silat fighter is very influenced by kickboxing in the way he moves ,in his guard...especially around the end when he starts to bounce with a traditional boxing guard. The Silat I've been taught was very little, just a few techniques but none so flashy as a air scissor takedown or all the leg hits. A lot of the competitive motions I was taught were closer to wrestling and grappling (compact movements ). My favorite is the stiff arm throw that I even show kids because it's so much fun to do where you basically put your hand behind someone's neck and the other hand on their wrist and kind of twist them around into a cute little circle. Double knee to the Head after somebody is down by simply twisting your knee like a disco move was kind of fun too.

The guy onle has one move, "baseball slide into baby prone position.

Sorry but the silat guy was kicking once on the ground. For me that didn't deserve the win. He has a few good sweeps but so did the karate guy have a few good hits. I didn't count the blows if that is what you are supposed to do. I think the karate guy was the winner having stayed on his feet.

so lets be clear they switched his sensei to judge. Ill admit he got i front kick and a turn side kick. but then the judge reprimands the qi kid to not strike the other kid in the face when he counters the kid kicks. and doesnt looks like he rewarded and of the strikes. The kid is wallowing around on the ground and kicking at qi kid long before the ref call break. I wont claim to know this tournament rules. There were quite of few red flags there.

Listen this might be a disliked comment but has someone who spent most of younger life (up into sophomore year). I think the only ppl who should wear a chest protector is a female. Now that being said they dont have to and I have fought many who didnt. But no man should be wearing a thick ass chest protector. Ive said it am im not turning back
