I received this filter 2 weeks ago and I’ve been having a lot of trouble man when I plug the filter it makes a rattling sound then I open the lid ontop add water then it proceeds to work but why do I need to add water for it to work man this is driving me crazy I really need someone’s help any body send me their number for we can FaceTime or I can send my number dosent matter I just need help at this point and it’s driving me crazy

The little piece it call the vertical adjuster. And put it in bottom part of the filter,in the hole 🕳️ between the rubber under the filter

Thank you so much for this video! I have it all set up and it seems to start to work but then the water in the tubes on top goes down and it starts to make a grinding noise. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong?

The small thing is for the bottom of the filter just insert.

No one can figure out what this little piece is for 😂

Update: just had to finally replace this filter, so they last about two years from my experience.

That small piece every one keeps wondering what’s it’s for, it goes at the bottom. It’s two holes on each side. It’s for when you put the filter against the glass it’s a wedge adjuster it’s keep the filter leveled on the glass

Hey what's up, you do really good job at explaining how to put this thing together. I think I figured out with that little flow control thingamajig goes it fits perfectly into either of the two holes at the bottom of the canister. The tention or resistance/tightness of it, proves to be a vibration control or something. I could be wrong though, I'm just reaching here.

Thanks, it was really easy putting it together with your video. Now I have an issue, like a week after it began making a noise. It sounds like something went through the tubes and got stuck. I took it apart cleaned it up but I can’t find anything in it. Put it back together, worked for about 3 days and the noise is back. What I’m missing?

That little piece you said you didn’t know where it goes, it’s a vertical adjuster that goes on the canister itself to keep it straight against the glass of the tank, it just clicks right into the bottom and you can spin it

Any ideas on why this filter isn’t filtering properly? I set it up about 4 days ago and my water is cloudy and green

So after turning it on i see that it barely sucks up any water and barely spits it out of the waterfall. Any ideas on what could be the problem? I seen you said suck on the outake tube but how? Which tube?

Helpful but infuriating

The vertical adjuster goes under the filter,it's not a flow gage.

Uhh so the water thing that comes out the last hole is squeaking is there a way to fix it and make the filter quiet

Hii! I watched your other video a couple months ago and my filter was working! However after I cleaned it, it stopped taking water in? I’m assuming this is a common issue lol, but I was just wondering if maybe you might know what’s wrong? or what I can do?

I just want to say I appreciate the second video and thank you Skishy Reptiles. The second video you presented was very helpful with the FX 350 External Canister Filter setup. The only issue I had was at the top inside of the canister I did not pull the bottom part of the flow tube out of the hole so that the water could flow through the tubes into the aquarium so it just made noise with no flow when I plugged in the filter canister because I missed this step in the setup process. Also, I did not add enough water to the canister so once I filled it to the top, the water flowed through the tubes into the aquarium with no problem. At that point, I learned that the amount of water that you pour into the canister does matter. The vertical adjuster was an issue for me as well because I didn't know where to insert it. However, after reading Aquarian Inker's comment, I was able to locate the hole at the bottom of the canister and level it vertically against the aquarium glass...Cudos to Aquarian Inker...Thank you for your input.

Anyone have excess bubbles blowing out constantly. Idk how or why mine keeps getting air trapped and spitting it out. Other then that it's running fine.

The "Vertical Adjuster" goes to the bottom of the filter so it doesn't rub

Wait I got a question where do I put my intake and outtake,inside the water?

FYI...the little plastic funky ear shaped piece that noone knows where it is supposed to go Well, look on the bottom of the filter canister and on each side there are small holes that piece actually fits in to adjust your filter to a total vertical position off the side of the tank...to level it up in other words... If you read or really look closely at the pictures in your instruction pamphlet u will see what I'm talking about. Just so you know...lol.

Hi I watched both of your vids , I just got the filter I followed all the instructions and the filter sounds like a tractor and doesn't want to pump any water... Can you help ?

I just recently bought this and your video was very helpful. I do have a question though.. Where do you buy the foam filters after it’s time to clean out the canister? I tried to find answers online but nothing really came up.
