Mass Effect Retribution
Official book summary
Humanity has reached the stars, joining the vast galactic community of alien species. But beyond the fringes of explored space lurk the Reapers, a race of sentient starships bent on “harvesting” the galaxy’s organic species for their own dark purpose. The Illusive Man, leader of the pro-human black ops group Cerberus, is one of the few who know the truth about the Reapers. To ensure humanity’s survival, he launches a desperate plan to uncover the enemy’s strengths-and weaknesses-by studying someone implanted with modified Reaper technology. He knows the perfect subject for his horrific experiments: former Cerberus operative Paul Grayson, who wrested his daughter from the cabal’s control with the help of Ascension project director Kahlee Sanders. But when Kahlee learns that Grayson is missing, she turns to the only person she can trust: Alliance war hero Captain David Anderson. Together they set out to find the secret Cerberus facility where Grayson is being held. But they aren’t the only ones after him. And time is running out. As the experiments continue, the sinister Reaper technology twists Grayson’s mind. The insidious whispers grow ever stronger in his head, threatening to take over his very identity and unleash the Reapers on an unsuspecting galaxy. This novel is based on a Mature-rated video game.

Mass Effect Revelation

Summary Mass Effect: Revelation is a prequel novel to the Mass Effect trilogy, by Canadian science fiction writer and lead writer of the Mass Effect video game, Drew Karpyshyn. First published in 2007 by Del Rey Books, it is the first novel set in the Mass Effect universe. The book serves to fill in much of the background details of the game, such as locations (including the Citadel), the inter...
I remember reading this book. Revisiting really gives Saren more dimension than what we got in the first game and first time reading. I liked it.
Now that i think about it, the quarians might just be my favorite race in all of sci-fi 🤔Cant really think of a more interesting space race. Of course thats aside from the undisputed greatest faction in 40k..... THE TAU 🤭 No im being completely 100% right now🤭 Im serious guys! If you really think about it, the Tau are just such a unique 😅😂🤣
Ok is it just me or are this and Revelation kinda mediocre??? 🤔 I remember absolutely loving these books when they came out. So much so that i read through whole series twice. But coming back to them now that im old and jaded lol, 35, im actually pretty disappointed 😞 There not "bad" necessarily, thier just "okay" 🤷♂️ Though it is entirely possible that if i wasn't already a MASSIVE fan of the ME universe I would consider them bad.... I'm only 2:03:48 in to ascension though, so hopefully it can turn around and impress me before the end 🤞 Also i did just finish the first 2 dune books, after the new movie reignited my sci-fi obsession, came back to ME books for a light fun read after the ludicrously heavy, intricate masterpieces from Herbert. So its possible im only disappointed with the ME books because i just finished 2 of the best sci-fi stories ever told 🤷♂️ Anywho THANKS FOR THE UPLOAD HOMIE🙏😊
About the same age and feel about the same coming back to these 😂 We’re getting old bro and they probably always sucked a little 😂
@thanevakarian9762 Right!😭 Getting old sucks!!!! 😅 Had a similar thing happen when I tried rereading the first halo book a couple years back. Also, I simply CAN NOT enjoy skyrim anymore, the flaws are just so glaring now that I lack the necessary imagination to overcome the shallowness and get immersed. Same, though to a lesser extent, with fallout 3 😔
Whoever you are thanks for the full and complete audiobook read by an actually human being. Thumbs up and have a nice day.
Many Batarians were harmed in the making of this program.
The one negative i think, is this weird romance angle written, between sanders n anderson. It feels weird since with the roles they had in their initial meeting in book1, anderson comes across more like a fatherly guy than a love interest. Perhaps a lil' younger than her real dad but not by much, since her dad already retired at 50. From the games i'd say that is about anderson's age now. She seems too young, by what can b guessed from her story. It also kinda takes away from the impact of grayson's death. Further, it makes me doubt all the times that her possible will to keep him alive against better judgement. In both cases, why would she care that much with her next conquest already lined up? It makes grayson into an inconvenience n also the story doesn't makes it a point, that she's conflicted at any time about this n has to get clear, even if just 4 herself, about it. Since this relationship isn't important to the story in any form it seems a unnecessary idea that is a net - negative overall.
The illusive man, imposing? I could barely keep myself from laughing usually upon hearing his weird speach impediment. It's impossible to take the guy serious.
Wait, wait, wait- isn't the book supposed to b after ME 2? Either that info was off or i must wonder, which collectors? Those u send together with their base into a gas giant? Those who have no longer been under reaper controll n have no need for further kidnapped humans? Aaand if not- how likely is it that those collectors would pay mercs for a job they could easily do without help, as well as allways did so? With what would they even pay the guys? They didn't struck me like part of the usual economy or even familiar with the concept of a deal for mutual benefit.
Nah it takes place like right after ME1
@@bwitters1733 yeah, i see that now too. Was just cjecking some wiki 4 orientation, where to place'em, when i found the books. There they said that books 2 n 3 r each after the games 2nd n 3rd parts. So i guess the 3rd book also, actually plays b4 then?
Allways liked the games' lore n also the author very much so for his darth bane trilogy. Yet somehow i can't get the thought out of my head, that this ip was explicitly started for the purpose, that sony get their own "halo", after diving into it's lore a lil' more recently. I hadn't done this when i stumbled over the ME games initially and tho' neither a renamed copy, nor even the same game genre, their are certain foundational elements the story n world are build on, that clearly were heavily drawing inspiration from halo. It's like a teint impossibly to ignore now, each time certain elements get mentioned in any way. Above all of course the reapers (flood/precursors), their cyclic whiping of the universe (flood's destruction of the leading species as a "test" meant to fail until their contendor species is ready for ut's turn), the protheans (forerunners) who were technically beyond anyone else n disappeared jisteriously, the keepers (huragok - the bioengineered maintanence creatures of the forerunners) who seem not really living intelligent beings n no machines either, being single minded in their intent to repair prothean technology. Since halo started years earlier, it's obvious who copied who. What i must say is that i like the bigger number of species in ME. It's actually weird that their wasn't much more story made in terms of novels with the opportunity that brings. Of course halo's story is limited into n around one galaxy only what excuses the smaller variety but given how many books could b made from that, which also take place inside a single decade of a more than 100000 year window of relevant history, even the main war of that story was 3times as long n the opportunities for stories that were not involving humans were barely started to be evolved. With that mountain of potential even in halo's smaller scope untouched, just imagine how far this ME universe could've been taken.
Really like these books. Thank you. 💜,🐥
I like these books knowing nothing about the game. Thanks 💜,🐥
Bro came out of nowhere dropped the 3 mass effect books and then disappeared absolute giga chad

1hr 08min…
Such a great sci fi universe! It sorely deserves more content, another trilogy would be great.
I like how the action sequences are consistent with Mass Effect's gameplay. Even the character editor has a role here - so to speak (when a charakter takes melanin pills).
Batarians gets slaughtered in this one. Gela is basically a stump after Skarr's attack.
It’s so refreshing to get more lore to consume from this universe we love so much
Scar was a badass, really liked him… them wise Krogan be lowkey smart asf
I really like Goyle but it’s still dumb to study AI tech
Fuck this needs to be a movie LOL
Anderson’s female squad mate, the one he saved (forgot her name) definitely caught feelings for him… shame she goes unmentioned throughout the most of the story tho seemed like an Ashley Williams esq character
You say shame but shamelessly forget her name 😂
@@HakuYuki001it’s an 8hr e-book bro 😂
This type of story is what we’ll be getting for the next Mass Effect game imo… lower level espionage 🔥
It’s cool to link the details in this to ME3 where Sanders works at Grissom Academy and how there’s obviously history and interest between Sanders and Anderson
I feel like there’s an alternative timeline where Anderson and Saran could’ve gotten along… kinda like a Shepard x Garrius thing
New found respect for Anderson, he was always a homie throughout the Trilogy but with this background lore he’s goated asf… definitely gives off Shepard vibes (in the best ways)
You've been watching the Tier list vids too I see. Anderson is everyone's dad. All time S Tier.
Yep! I love the research base bit at the beginning. Anderson and his team feel like Shep and their team. The firefight is soo badass that it always gets me hype to play ME. Usually the 3rd, because the combat can feel tight and tactical, just like Andersons squad
This could easily be a movie… so good
Even commander Shepard at 100% reputation points can’t hold a candle to ambassador Doyle. As far as I’m aware she’s the only mass effect character in history to pull a speech check on the council.
Saving the galaxy is lesser than annoying the council. I think it’s time for you to grow up and learn that rebelling against your elders is not the accomplishment you think it is 😂
@@HakuYuki001 One: The council is not humanitys elders. Two: Doyle is saving the entire human race from being crippled by council sanctions, not annoying them. Three: Shepard would most likely not become a spectre, let alone an N7 without Doyle defending us years before. Four: I think we just found the councils youtube channel here^
It would be amazing if the codex actor read this
Ch.14.- " like chattle." Lol
💀 ☠️ 💀 ☠️
It's the biggest shame in the world that Lemm was essentially forgotten after this! I would've loved to have seen him in the video games!
Congratulations on the beautiful nation by this narating hippie thank's for sharing this fun naration by you appreciate it's fun stuff that you did great work.
Some stupid comments here Great audio, thanks 👍🏻🙏🏻

Pretty bad book to be honest not as good as I remembered. Definitely not to the usual level of stuff by Drew
It drags on in the beginning. But I think towards the end on the Migrant Fleet was pretty good. Really did a good job of describing Quarian society.
I'm having the same experience so far at 3:21:24 So disappointed. I remember really liking these back in the day. I remember the Migrant fleet part being one of my favorites from the books. Hopefully it holds up better than the rest of it so far
Man these are awesome
Thank you so much! Love these books
Your story line is flawed... enemy ships would not be received with open arms or open doors.... I'm done here
They weren't enemy ships.

So, where is the book that has the story in-between Revelation and Ascension?
There is no novel that falls between Revelation and Ascension instead it's a few comics and mass effect 1 & 2. I posted a link to a timeline in the description of this video and the Revelation video
this is B.S.
why
@@harko2441I think because of the alliance opening up for the enemy when they did the exact same thing with Sovereign.
Why?
I normally don't care for this type of storyline but actually enjoyed this very much
Poor after book 1 hope the rest are not this bad
It's not but the mass effect revelations isn't bad compare to part 4 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤

why doesnt this have more views
Thank you so much for this upload. Waiting for the next part🙌

Thank you very much for posting this. Great quality and great book!
Awesome narration, especially Saren and Skarr. Very immersive
