obsessssssed. thank you for this. these Lululemon shorts? I need. (and I never thought I would say those words) ... Bluets and The Seas, two incredible ones. Can't believe you met Maggie Nelson. and I wish I could read on a bus. Ross, this video was so wonderful. Please continue xx
@benjaminjournal ahhhhh ben 🩶 i think east of eden is so accessible and addicting i want to read it everywhere i go, im not sure if i can read other books in the bus tho haha. i will try my best to be consistent, thank you 🙆🏻♂️

@lawrencemangoe thank you 💗
❤
Was sent this way by Benjamin Green and soooo pleased he gave you a shout out. I’m so looking forward to heading to all the content you’ve put up and whatever comes next.
Hey, waiting for a new video!!!!! When are you uploading?? Sending love ❤❤❤❤❤
great selection of books and love the commentary - never heard Piranesi recommended by an architect before and i'm even more keen to pick it up now =) i didn't get on with the Hour of the Star but i did like some of her short stories. would love to hear more of your opinions bout her writing ✨
Just a little reminder that Mishima was a literal fascist and a nostalgic of imperial Japan who tried to organise a military coup to overthrow the democratic government, and after seeing he failed he committed suicide by seppuku. I don't mean it implying that you shouldn't enjoy his literature, I myself loved Confessions of a mask, I felt it was precisely this dark and twisted character of the writer what made the story so special; I just think it is important to keep it in mind and reflect on separating the art from the artist, as the comment you made on him looking cool sounded a bit weird to me. Very nice list nonetheless!
I’m reading the bluest eye by Toni Morrison. I’ve reread this book like 3x. It helps me get back into reading. Next on my list is a little life by hanya yanagihara
@blythedollluvrxo hello :) I need to read more Toni Morrison! that’s so good that you have a comfort read, I wish I reread more books! please please please be careful with a little life 😭
omg this was such a good haul i remember finding Yoshimoto's Kitchen just fine, but excited to look at her other works for this year. i've got Amrita on deck. to this day i can't believe i got this huge monograph of James Dean photos for $2 at a library sale. it's the perfect coffee table book!
@nathansnook thank you so much, we love a bargain! your bookshelves tour inspired me to pick up more art-coffee table books, because I tend to not browse in that section 😅 i’m so so excited to read Yoshimoto’s writing, I have a feeling i’m going to love her, I might read all the ones I own this coming May. 💚
I found a pristine copy of The Children's Book by A.S.Byatt for 1 Euro very close to when someone had just recommended it to me. Anna Karenina is definitely a good place to start with Tolstoy, but no need to be worried about War and Piece. It's fabulous and it reads like watching a telenovela most of the time.
ross I am absolutely obsessed with your channel. I'm loving the laptop vibe lately as well.
I could listen to you for hours. amazing selection. impossible to leave a Claire-Louise Bennett alone anywhere ....
@@benjaminjournal thank you so much Ben 💚 can't wait to pickup Checkout 19! You might be getting a bunch of notifs from me for posting comments on your recent video + instagram and community post here on youtube, apologies. But no amount of words can describe how much of a comfort your videos have been to me.
I think my favorite thrift find was my copy of the bluest eye-I got it for a dollar!!
@DogEaredMusings I love your username :))) what a bargain! Toni Morrison is a potential favourite author, can’t wait to read more from her.
I recently thrifted Lord of the Flies for 1 dollar and 2 for I know why the caged bird sings. I'm so proud of this I'll take this to my grave
@legaspinaomiannieverc.5180 I really want to pick up I know why the caged bird sings! I’ve read lord of the flies and didn’t have the best time or maybe I picked it up too early and my brain couldn’t handle it! Let me know your thoughts on those 2 books 💚
You're wonderful! Keep making theses videos. I read 1Q84 about five years ago now, so it might perhaps be time to read it again !
@oneoftheghosts1620 thank you 🥹 come join i’d love to have you there discord.gg/NRymhEW9Xn
oh my god, these were beautiful recommendations!! if you are enjoying getting into mary oliver's work, i'd recommend reading upstream. one of my favourite books ever! the love and respect and wonder she has for the natural world is written about in stunning prose. x
@jameskatie okay first and foremost hello i love your videos and taste in literature 💌 Oliver’s work is so healing and heartwarming and it is definitely a NEED for me. Can’t wait to check out Upstream and explore more of her works and feel like a sprite frolicking in the forest. 🧚🏼
@@rosscoronia thank you so much for the sweet words!! i’m new to your videos but already a huge fan! 🤍🌼
Just finished the enchanted april! So charming. I wish you peace and hope you feel better soon
@adevelasquezt it was a great book to kickstart spring right? aaaah thank you so much 💌
"Three Summers" by Margarita Liberaki is one of my favourite novels of all time and is also in the Penguin European writers collection, I highly recommend it (especially in the summer)!
@literaryleila going straight to my summer tbr! thank you i’m excited to pick it up 💓
I like to think of buying used/second hand books as rescuing them and rehoming them 😅
@justheathers exactly
Now THAT's a great stack of books! 😎📚👍
@mildrumpus right?! can't blame me for buying them 😼
Why I avoid the thrift store.
@davidnovakreadspoetry 🥲
I am a major thrifter of books like I think 90% of my collection is thrifted lol so I really had some great ones But just this year I bought a hardcover in good condition of Goldfinch by Donna Tartt for only 250php or 3.55 pounds!!
@Bentiladore I love a good bargain, would love to see your collection! 🫶🏼
Thanks for the recommendation on the second hand book store. Does anyone have any other recs in London? I much prefer to buy second hand as good value for money.
@kawaiikitty4569 yes absolutely please ungatekeep the good second hand bookstores in London 👇🏼
the GLASSES! they look really cool on you <3 and also I think the laptop webcam makes this pretty aesthetic!
@emmamoon7756 hello emma 🥹 thank you, i’m gonna try it out in a couple of videos + editing it was sooo much easier compared when I use my phone we’ll see we’ll see
Recently purchased Anna Karenina and was like 😱 no don’t spoil it lol Edit: You have 3 of the ones that I recently picked up. Pretty cool! Anna Karenina, Braiding Sweetgrass and A Month in the Country
@theliterarylayer we exist in an alternate universe 🪐
my dark vanessa + lolita! please check them out
@messymessa6666 should I that will be so interesting but very daunting !
@@rosscoroniayes it’ll definitely be a hard subject to talk about but those two books are definitely worth checking out and comparing!
@@messymessa6666 agree agree
ross… you flatter me too much what the heck😭 so honored to be mentioned🫶🫶 we should def discuss checkout-19 when you read :)
@kailienatsu i am in awe of your videos 💌 i might pick it up this May, have you started it? The writing is… something else
@@rosscoroniai’ve started it! i think i’ll finish sometime this month. writing is deffo interesting.. we shall see! 👀
i really enjoyed anna karenina! levin and kitty were my favorite characters. i got a beautiful copy of east of eden for just $2 and it was in perfect condition.
@gotosleep2876 hello I can’t wait to pick it up, and East of Eden so many classics to reaaaad
hi Ross! heartbreaks are tough - taking on new hobbies & reading has definitely kept me busy and happy during my own heartbreak. Nevertheless, your book haul is full of GEMS, so that's something to be excited about :)
And - the book i can't believe i thrifted is Fernando Pessoa's The Book of Disquiet! I think it was only around $5.00 USD!!
@moodzstay hello thank you 😸 wow I really want to read the book of disquiet i’ve only heard great things
lispector is a slippery slope.. once you get the inkling that she may be a fav i promise you wont be able to stop!! (at least that is what has happened with me, haha)
@kailienatsu I just want to read them all, and watching your vids and nathan's is feeding my obsession. I also want to read Orlando this coming May because I know it's your favourite book. Booktube is so fun 😆
love ur videos sm!!!! altho can u flip ur video so the book title isnt mirrored hehe its abit hard to read bc of it 😢😢 thank u !! keep posting!!
@arsdeng hello thank you ! I will on my next video, apologies 😹

No! Flip the video 😭😭
@onedarcgod5047 im sorry !!! 🥲
@@rosscoronia aah love it's okay 🫠😚📚
I'm glad you're enjoying Clarice. She writes very good stuff. Im on a break from Murakami after reading Kafka on the shore and not liking it very much...but his writing was cool, I have a copy of Nowergian wood and After dark which I want to read next. Excited to hear your next thoughts about 1q84
@Ellen_Seokjin I really enjoyed both Norwegian Woof and After Dark let me know your thoughts when you pick them up.
I adore when people pick up the book copy and show it to us, not just its picture. Love your insights and your calming voice. <3
do you have a favorite book of each genre
I adore your videos, they’re so soothing!
@FreckledFruit thank you so much :)
Sorry to hear that you are experiencing heartbreak at the moment. With time things will get easier to bear. Thanks for the great video, I will be adding quite a few of these books to my tbr and I think I will finally give A Room With a View a read this month. Keep up the great content!
@ReeducationOfTheMind thank you 🥹 let me know your thoughts on room with a view
very smexy list !!! so glad you’re enjoying Lispector! she’s honestly such a gift to this world 💫 gonna be greedy with questions eep! 1) fav bev 2) fav silly weekend drink 3) what book changed the way you move/see the world? 4) what’s a set of words or a phrase that has always stuck with you? 5) fav cheat meal 6) does pineapple belong on pizza? 7) personal fav Murakami book? 8) fav thing(s) to do when you’re not reading? 9) your fav thing about yourself 💛
@nathansnook now that im watching your vlogs from the beginning, I want to throw out all my books and buy all Lispector books ! thank you for the questions 💌
@@rosscoronia Omg start the New Directions cover collection it’s honestly so satisfying !!!
@nathansnook extremely tempted !
my april tbr consists of 1q84 (because of the book club 🤭), resurrection by tolstoy for uni and sula by toni morrison because that’s shawn mccomb’s book club pick for april :)) very book clubby and long-book focused tbr, but i’ll probably read other stuff as well in the end because of my poor self-discipline and mood reading habits 😂
@emmamoon7756 what a stunning stack of books haha I can relate to having poor self-discipline and mood reading habits sooo much 😹
