Find Your Perfect Modern Metal Tone - NOW!
In this video, we demonstrate how to dial in a perfect modern metal guitar tone every time. Demonstrations are made on real amplifiers and cabinets, as well as on virtual amplifiers from Neural DSP using a Halo Merus 6 Evertune guitar in drop C. The video takes a comical approach using a old timey narrator to instruct the demonstrator. The practices taught here are applicable to all guitar tunings and guitars ranging from 6 strings and up. Viewers can expect to have a full comprehension on how to set the microphones on the cabinet, where to position the knobs on the amplifier, and how to ensure a proper input source.

@@ericryngksai1919 get lost in that sound my dude. That whole genre is just a massive vibe! Mark (from periphery) writs his best stuff when he’s just vibing with the rest of the band. He talks about it in a couple interviews. That guy has got to be one of my favorite guitarists. He’s insanely humble.

@@sonmyster3705 yes this is studio one. I’ll do a beginners guide to studio one just for this kind of production. I’ll start super simple with some of the cheapest vst instruments and plugins out there so anyone just starting has an easy starting point. Keep an eye out for that one!
I use a digitech drop pedal to play sleep token songs. You have to play around with the eq but it helps massively

@@Leon_Maarsen thank you so much my dude yes! There’s always a time and place to sync everything but I try to make it just feel good you know? I reference my stuff a LOT against my favorite artists to find what works and I always seem to gravitate towards that real ebb and flow pattern. Man that means a lot to hear, thank you again 🙏
they use a transposition pedal, you don't need to tune that low.
@@zabtej1645 I’ve used the transpose on other projects. This was just something I wanted to do. Plus, it feels better when the acoustics match properly with the playback. I’ve also found the transpose feature sounds a bit more artificial as well.

@@KeinBierVorVierAlter for real my dude. I had to swap the bridge, fix the crappy rear barrels (even though one wasn’t big enough for the bass string end), and swap tuners just to keep it in tune. Plus the neck setup, fret leveling/crowning, new wiring/pots/switch, AND pickups… a $200 guitar turned into an $800 guitar so fast 😂

Just finished the whole video the vocals are great man keep doing them most people I see doing this only write the instrumental side of things it’s a nice change of pace to see someone do vocals! I’m hoping to be able to do the same one day lol. I’ve played off and on since I was 16 but have no theory knowledge or anything like that. I recently picked up everything to start recording last year and I’ve been picking up plugins and things here and there. I get inspiration from seeing you and other people create, it makes me want to get up and go write. Keep it up!
@ Hell yeah! You don’t need a ton of theory man. Honestly the biggest factor in improvement for me (and a lot of others) was picking apart other artists songs. Learning parts all the way through even if I think I’ll never be able to play them. Actually getting guitar pro and downloading proper tabs. Tabbing stuff out yourself. Theory is a language for translation. If you just look up the 7 modes and memorize the patterns, that’s a HUGE benefit for being able to quickly write your own stuff. You’ll probably find you gravitate to certain ones based on what you like. I really like Ionian. When you down tune, it sounds really pretty and everything else just stems from it anyway.
Thanks for the advice! Yeah I like Phrygian and Phrygian dominant a lot I just think I need to dive in a little deeper to what you’re saying! I definitely agree with the picking apart songs. Since I’ve started messing with writing more production layers and learning about all that I’ve definitely began to notice things in other artist music I wouldn’t have before.

You can transpose directly in Studio One without spending CPU/RAM resources on running VST plugins. Just select your audio track, press F4 and look to the bottom of the inspector where you can pull a bar up. It reveals more settings - also "Transpose". Nice vid! Great to see someone else using S1!
I know 😂 I just make so many additional adjustments while I’m writing and my pc doesn’t hiccup at the usage so I just leave everything on. When I do a final mix I usually bounce everything down first anyway. S1 is goated imo. I left cubase for S1 about 9 or 10 years ago and never looked back
